Div 1 is just a mercenary merry go round!! Keep swimming in that pond gents. At least you’ll be able to tell the kids how good you were in “DIV1” back in the day

Totally agree, you play to win premiership, you win one and then all jump ship when you get promoted.
Leave the club that you helped promote and then chase $$$$ at another club
No loyalty at all

Hearing ridiculous amounts of $$ for Josh. But he would want to see at least 1/3 on sign on, and getting paid each week. Can see the club not affording to pay otherwise..

You just worry about pumping all your hard earned money into Talbot to try and get DC that flag.
You went out in straight set, in the worst competition in Melbourne after spending big.
Chase your losses this year you might get there one day.

Thought Hillside were in a good position to go up. But they gone backwards. Very sad, teams are just going to keep getting caught in this cycle.

He has signed at Tullamarine, was never ever playing premier and I said this months ago.. Will be announced tonight or tomorrow. Wunhym and Covelli have left hillside to Tulla… big $$$ and they will be a big improver next year as a result.

Looking at their GF winning side, quite a few came from Premier Div. sides or their junior club is in Prem.. (Covelli, Castello, Caruso x2, Lojko, Wuhnym)
They had chosen to not play at the level previously so it shouldn't be a massive surprise that some may not want to now.
Hopefully for the clubs sake, they have some reinforcements incoming.

Any word on Craigeburn? No signings or re signed players.
They finished the season off very well. But still looked like they had a few holes in their team. Yes there kids will improve again if they are staying. But you’d think they will still need to recruit to compete with the top teams.

Pointless recruiting players if they are going to walk out if they go up a level. Is it worth winning a flag and then struggling in premier?

Totally agree, mercenaries ruin clubs but clubs ultimately make the final decision so full blame goes to club as well.
Egos definitely come into play, win look at me and then leave so the diehards members and supporters have to pick up the pieces

Doesn’t that free up $$$$ which allows said club to use those funds on the right players for the level they are moving into? If HS have lost 4-6 players surely that’s a lot of $$ free for the players that won’t go up. The young ones stay on and you now recruit for the Div you are in. I can only assume the same people that were questioned 12-18 months ago on HS on direction and recruiting of “older players” delivered a flag and now they pivot and go agin. 2026 for HS is to be competitive and stay up anything more is a bonus. Juniors and their self absorb parents now have a premier club so hopefully don’t move to Keilor and the likes as years gone by.

Hearing Oak Park have added a couple of very good players. I think they would have been much better suited to go into Prem. MV have also added some talent, expect them to make a big push for finals.

Next step is too get the juniors into the highest divisions possible.
Being in premier obviously attracts kids but it’s more where the other clubs juniors sit which is mainly Div 1.
Hillside needs to now get the juniors into teams to follow the seniors

Highest division possible above anything else has to be the goal.
They do have some great footballers at under 12 and especially 14s level that they have to keep around
