So if this is true and seen by umpires and or any vision, then must be last warning issued and then removal of sides, which in this case would mean ALL senior teams including 18.5 for a period of time which could be 1, 2 or whatever years. WE must stamp this out, and sick of the excuses from all clubs of racism or we can’t get volunteers. That’s BS as better to have no one that someone who potentially can cause trouble.

But unfortunately its been allowed to happen far to often and bit like our state government they do nothing which encourages it. Seen that incident in 18.5s div2 last year and the league didn’t do anything and allowed that particular club to actually keep playing. So people just continue to do stupid things without any consequences..

Imagine if there is vision and it’s get out onto the TV screens. Oh boy..

It’s all about the $$$$$ more clubs more teams more $$$$$$ They don’t care!

Roxy have worked very hard to improve their images from many years ago. You will find barring cards/reports the club has been ok. But definetly not condoning what occured to be acceptable. Sounds like plenty happened on Saturday at Craigieburn. Both clubs have been fierce rivals over the years, which I find funny considering most players of both clubs would know each other.

And that water person will cop it pretty hard from people at his club as he’s brought shame to them with his actions.

I haven’t been around for as long as some but I’ve definitely found Roxy to be good overall. The bald guy who umpires their reserves games can be a bit challenging though. Then again there’s probably no club in div 1 that I’ve found to be a problem club. Obviously div 2 is a bit different but div 1 clubs seem to be ok from what I’ve seen.

A few comments regarding this.

Any water boy/runner etc who gets involved in punch ups on the field is very silly. I’ve seen a few do it and end up on their arse and nobody felt sorry for them.

Regarding Turbos comments about throwing the club out- I’ve personally found Roxy to be a decent club in my dealings with them. If the EDFL tolerates Northern Saints, then Roxy certainly won’t have anything to worry about.

Regarding the u/18 player reported for striking an umpire, as you’re already aware, the EDFL tribunal can be very disappointing and will have no problem taking the players side if the umpire cannot provide proof. There’s plenty of umpires out there who will just pretend they didn’t see it because they can’t be bothered going to the tribunal and don’t want to get involved. Hopefully that’s not the case and the Craigieburn player gets a lengthy suspension but overall, a lot of umpires are not team players and the tribunal won’t necessarily take the umpires word over the players word.

This I agree is a valid point you make. So my thoughts are the offending player/club who if found guilty have to cover costs of umpires attending. If found not guilty then no costs. As some umpires study, work nights or maybe the young ones have part time jobs and rely on parents driving them in. Maybe $100 per umpire costs or something like that.

Now that would get clubs to act rather quickly I would assume.

Plus any attempted strike of an umpire could result in police charges so it’s concerning if in fact true what was reported.

Seems like Roxy will go down, the run for the remaining 4 spots inside the top 5 (OP are a lock) seems wide open. Should be a great finish to the H&A season.

That’s horrible as it’s a rare thing to see someone under 18 get over 16 weeks. If all weeks were from time at one club then surely the leadership needs to be looked at.
