I think that's what is disappointing. Round 1 is always an exciting time. Hope not having a game Saturday deters players from staying

I think this will happen to more clubs over the coming years mate. Some clubs having no under 19s is probably worse than no reserves. I like the idea off thirds footy as long as players have played at that club previously as it gets them back involved however if your recruiting seconds players from other clubs then it does create issues.

In closing just great to see Keilor Park back rather than get swallowed up by neighbors Keilor..

Will Sunbury Kangaroos wear an away strip against Coburg Districts? Also next season if they play Oak Park As identical jumpers.

Im not a fan of clubs having indentical colours and emblems. Think the EDFL need to look into this..

Anyone willing to have a crack at this weeks results?

Burnside by 24 points over Jacana
Sunbury by 40 points over Northern
Districts by 10 points over East Sunbury
Hadfield 80 points over KP


I think this divisions going to tighten up again this year. Northern Saints to be the big slider back down the ladder. Sunbury aren’t going to come in and have it as easy as some people on here are tipping them to.
Jacanas outs are going to make it difficult for them to bounce back up to div 1.
There’s about 6 sides for 4 spots in the finals race. Should make for a good year of div 2 footy.

this situation has nothing to do with Rocky leaving the club....

He was originally going to retire. The body isn’t holding up too well now, maybe Moonee valley enticed him with some nice incentives???

They’re putting together a nice side this year....

This comp will be very competitive I look forward to being on the other side of the fence now and watching a few different games throughout the year

No incentives from what I've heard which isn't surprising for a Div 2 club. And I don't think Rocky had made the decision to retire just yet but then saw an article that apparently officially retired him which I think shocked quite a few including him and kicked the competitive side of him in the arse. I *think* - and don't quote me on this - that he went to MV because him and the coach have a good rapport and the coach always reinforces family first, work or school second and footy way down the list. So someone at the stage of a Rocky or whomever who has a young family, etc it's ok if they can't play every game because of family or life stuff. This isn't life or death and I suspect it's a bit more of a welcoming place for people in that spot. There are so many people who would love to even get a match payment in Div 2 it is phenomenal...you can only hope each player appreciates where they're at and strives to do better and the supporters/observers strive to do the same.

Huge win for BH last night.

How good was the broadcast stream on Facebook. Cast it to your tv. Excellent quality so well done EDFL.

Burnside did look impressive. Very well balanced side and very fast head over the ball footy. Plus a gun div2 full forward helps. Sullivan is a gun in this comp..
On the other hand Jacana could struggle this season. Cloke, Shannon and #31 McCawley all stars in this division but I didn’t see much else out there. Looked slow (or maybe BS showed them up) and to reliant on Cloke up Forward obviously, and he had to be used in the ruck to combat the height of BS. Cloke appeared to be limping at times so that’s an issue..

If Burnside put in a shift next week against The Fog like they did last night (be it a W or a small loss) do we have to reconsider a lot of the opinion that they can’t make the 4? Or is it just early season energy?

The 6-6-6 and signings of Newport, Peterlehner & #28 Sapountiz (although I think he was there last year) could see Covelli kick 100-120. Commentators eluded to multiple times and was clear on the stream their ability to lead hard and fast at the ball carrier making their own defender accountable and following them in allowed Covelli a 1 on 1 & he had a field day kicking what I think was 8 in the end.

A lot to like about the Bears this year and would be great to see a big FF kick 100 in the comp.

Covelli isn’t even half fit. Spent the pre season on crutches due to ankle surgery and had his knee strapped last night. Imagine if he was fit.

He’s not that old. Around 24ish? He played premier U19s at Marby. That’s all I know really. He’s got a child now so priorities probably aren’t playing premier.

Haha. He would go alright at premier reserves level Survey. What about when big Bloomfield made a return a few years back.


If Covelli got fit could easily play div1 but would need to be superfit to play premier league. But definitely have ability and still reasonably young.
