I heard a whisper that Steve Kenna is a good forward.

I had a look at the results from last year and saw that Kenna kicked 12 against Jacana!! That's pretty good return for a forward. He must have not been playing against West Coburg and Pascoe Vale I guess because he doesnt feature in those results.

Can anyone confirm the whisper about Kenna leaving?? Also his reasons??

Has an injury and looked at the new forward line this year in terms of his position and decided to move on. He NEVER played well against good sides anyhow and yes did play against WC & PV. Marcus Kenny is on board again in 2012 with 2 other proven guns.

Chris....oh sorry l meen whispera, your an idiot. You go on every thread and bless us with your " l heard a whisper " bullshit. Get a life mate and let people talk footy rather than read your dribble:eek:

Agree mate, more like take the Pisspera than Whispera.....
He knows much more than it looks..

Hey Whispera, i got a rumour for you that not many people know......
Lance Whitnall is coaching Glenroy & also.. brace yourself.....
i heard that Daniel Harris & Simon Wiggins have signed at AW..

That is HUGE news snax..that is worthy of being broken by hutchi on the footy show..........

But seriously, the issue re. C Grade is far from dead in my opinion. There are still many clubs who are determined to stop it. Northern Saints, Hadfield, Glenroy, Moonee Valley and East Keilor lead the charge.

A letter was written by a senior coach stating his/their concerns with what this will do to many clubs in our comp. From where l sit, it just seems that the edfl are hell bent on doing this regardless of what clubs think. The edfl seem to forget that they work for the clubs and not the other way round.
The fact that 6 b grade clubs are unfinancial is a joke and its not the clubs we may think.
Edfl havnt acted in the best interest of all 24 clubs, but only in the interest of clubs with powerful people involved. They are basically bullying the lower clubs into submission and there are a few clubs on their knees who are basically begging the edfl to give them a break.
Its more than just seniors guys, its killing junior footy as well. They have 8 divisions and that is bullshit. They keep allowing power clubs to add more teams while others struggle for 1. Dont blame the clubs either because its up to the edfl to set guidelines in the best interest of the WHOLE comp, not just top clubs.

Here is my predictions for the next 2-3 years
- Jacana will fold
- Moonee Valley have no juniors and their seniors will get worse
- The new teams will be winless for a long time. Just ask roxi and hillside how there going atm
- Keilor Park will merge with East Keilor again / or get eaten by Keilor. Keilor have approached brimbank council and demanded that they take over KP adjoining ovals

Sorry to rant boys but with all the great things happening within the edfl, there are also sad things going on.
The league is changing dramatically before our eyes so good luck to the lower clubs.

By the way, l personally endorse c grade as long as its done properly. It should of happened 2-3 years ago but the edfl were, and still are unable to do things right:(

Perhaps keilor park should consider relocation as a second craigieburn club?? Would then have no problem attracting juniors... Mt Ridley devils?? West burn devils??

Keilor park is a shithouse location for a footy club

This nonsense the EDFL continues to promote is BS. What do they want? KP and EK to fold while Keilor have 8 teams at every age group?? Get serious EDFL and wake up. Junior teams should be capped at 3 teams and 75-80 kids per age group. Once they exceed the the overflow play at neighbouring clubs. Like the school system, once classes are full. This is junior footy we're talking about. All the EDFL are doing is turning kids away from the game. Who wants to play for a club that gets belted by 30-40 goals each week. The EDFL needs to stand up on this issue and not bow to the power clubs. I just hope Turri and Co have enough guts to do the right thing by all of their clubs.

A club is not going to move 30k's away. Kelior park wont be going anywhere kelior would fit more ppl at there club in kelior around the ground than if the moved to kp in its current state. Not sure how kp is a shit location? If true why would kelior "apparently" be trying to move there? If u took everything on here serious. Sunbury, sunshine, & coburg districts would b playin edfl b grade atm. The joys of alcohol + chinese whispers

Read the post properly mate. Keilor want outside ovals for all their junior teams, not to re locate their senior team

Closer to 20km than 30. The point is KP have a heap going against them mainly location, strength of keilor.
Craigieburn could easily handle another team and huge new estates are going in just up the rd from there.
There will/should be more mergers like Northern Saints happening soon. Clubs just won't survive if they don't. The money required to be successful will force the hand of some clubs.

Kp not a shit location?? No schools near the area... A tiny housing estate with an aging population... Essendon grammar now have a junior club running which will get stronger due to school ties. Ground is in the middle of nowhere... Windy as hell... And now they have keilor fc wanting to move in on them... Yeah you're right great location for a footy club

No idea why you're so sure kp won't be going anywhere by the sounds of things if they keep going the way they are they'll be folding in the not too distant future

agree... A roxy jacana merger might be the only chance for jacana to survive in some form if they lose many more players... A Few outgoing clearances and none coming in at this stage

Its 32.2 kms according to google maps from kp to higate. Nth coburg saints merge with fawkner park? Fawkner park didnt hav a team 4 a season sonth coburg used mutton coz it was not getting used. 1 in dvfl 1 in edfl. I apoligise i didnt read the post fully. Where do kelior jnr's play when there 4 or 5 teams playin at the same time & they all hav home games? Theres only 2 grounds at kp and 1 would need a bit of work to get upto edfl standard. But does have merit.

Can somone please tell me before the nth coburg move, when a team folded in the edfl? Theres been just on 10-15 yrs that i can remember of the same sides + rp and sharks + jacana. Who was the last to fold?

Meadow Heights was the last I think.

It Will never ever happen but I'd like to see the edfl and NFL merged into a 5 tier senior competition... Would result in much much closer games... A bit more travel for players/supporters but a better competition

Amateurs have a similar structure and seem to do ok without even having to pay players

23km via Paco Rd.
Yes, it was a merger. A lot of the Fawkner boys played with North Coburg in 2007. The committee was a pretty even split between the two. Still plenty of people from both clubs involved in a fast improving club with a solid facility.
Here's the main point.... More mergers will make the comp stronger, not weaker.
Going back a lot of years I know, but aren't Tulla and Marby results of mergers?

I remember and Ascot Vale or Moonee Ponds team playing in the late 80s. Horrible ground down off the freeway from memory...

Junior team capping is the only way to go. 7 and 8 year old kids wanting to play footy will go to a club up the road if their first club choice is full. They then settle into their club and within a couple of weeks wouldn't want to be anywhere else. They then are inclined to stay at that club long term and provide a development structure for the club's senior and under 18 teams. At the moment, we have some clubs with 70 under 16's players going into one U18 team (Abers are an example) that is 45 players from one club gone from footy as they can't get a game and they won't change clubs after 8 years of juniors at that club. Capping teams will even out competition. EDFL MUST MANAGE THIS LEAGUE. There are so many clubs struggling to survive. Never has this league been challenged for survival. The $$$ is killing the game by paying so much for senior players. Structure the junior competition and clubs can rely more on home grown talent. Has the league carried out an investigation as to why clubs are struggling financially? NO? Well they should. Look at the top clubs in senior A Grade. Keilor, Greenvale, Strathmore, Marby, Abers. They are the 5 biggest clubs in juniors. B Grade clubs need to be able to strive to make A Grade and then enter it with a chance of being competitive. The AFL protect their competion with salary caps and the draft picks. Without this, 5 AFL clubs would have gone by now. At least the AFL are managing their league. The EDFL need to even out competition by capping junior teams, unless they want an English Premier League result with two or three teams only capable of winning competition.

Agree with what you're saying but...

Marby isn't exactly a massive junior club... Hafield have had a bigger junior program longer than marby and are looking like playing C grade this year

Craigieburn have a massive amount of juniors and aren't dominating A grade... Hillside also have many junior sides and have struggled in B grade

The big A grade clubs with multiple junior sides subsidize their seniors though their membership fees... kids all paying 300 dollars a year to play say 80 kids per age group $24,000 per age group

That was 1984-85? So 28 years without a senior side folding in the edfl & if ppl on here are right mv & jac & kp will be gone by next year?

Moonee Valley aren't in any trouble at all from reports I've heard, will be pushing hard to stay in B grade with a lot of recruits but even if they went to C grade the club has a solid group of people working behind the scenes to make sure the club will stay viable

Any other news heard on Tulla? I've heard they most likely won't be fielding an U18 side this year due to lack of numbers, this must be a massive worry considering they played in and almost took out the U18 grand final 2 years ago

Marby had 9 junior teams last year to put them in the in top 8 out of 24 clubs in terms of club size. They happened to have a guy with a fist full of dollars buying senior flags so they are not a good example. Hadfield had 8 junior teams for the 5 years up to last season may have had an extra one last year so they are not a traditional large club. Hillside are trying to establish a senior team in a new area so you cannot expect much from them.
Look at the flags over the last 10-12 years in A Grade. Strathmore make 150,000 k from junior memberships. The league must take control as it's out of hand.
