Great to see such a close competition in division 1. Last quarter fade outs have really hurt Northern Saints the last 3 weeks. Could be very costly.

You make some very good points that I agree with but "aspire to be as good as a Greenvale or Marby". Greenvale yes, but Marby give me a break. The money is drying up quick and they will be back in B Grade in the next 5 years where they will stay. Their success was purely based on paying big $$$'s, that model or plan cannot be sustained, so who the hell would want to be as good as Marby Park????????? Strathmore, although spending huge $$$'s at the moment have been in A Grade for years, so aspire to be like them, possibly Keilor, but not Marby

Why so hateful towards Marby ? Plenty of clubs are doing nowadays what Marby did 6-7 years ago ( Airport West, Pascoe Vale, Abers ). I smell a bit of jealousy.

Not Jealous at all, just stating facts. I was happy to see Marby win the flag purely to see a Club who hadn't one one before take it out. All I'm saying is it's not sustainable, I think you'd agree with that. I

I don't think anyone is remotely jealous of Marby,
They won a couple of well deserved seniors flags and are now on the decline.
Their u18s/reserves are poor and are a fair way behind the top 3 teams in seniors.

It is great to see a close comp. Northern will have to be on their toes this week against Haddy,with Hadfield being so unpredictable, knocking off Airport West & now a draw against West Coburg.

King hit behind play from a player who has history (kicking I was told). APW from all reports absolutely filthy with EK and the EDFL. The bloke took the two weeks offered whilst the EK coaches behaviour was even worse following the incident. Not the end of this by a long shot.

Surley it would have made more sense to allow East Keilors Under 18 to finish this year in Div 1 that tying them to the Seniors in Div 2. They are sitting second on the ladder with an 11 and 2 record and now there is a bye in both Div 1 and Div 2 U18. I know it would cause some logistical problems for the away games but I am sure EK would put up with that and they have done it with Sunbury not having a senior side. Go back to your format next year but give these kids a go. BTW I am not from EK but have been involved with U18 in the past and know these boys would be very dissapointed. Hopefully EK start playing a lot of U18 in the seniors for the rest of the year.

Whilst I am in favour of the split of Div 1 - I am extremely disappointed with the lack of vision shown by the EDFL and all clubs in not separating the U18 competition from the seniors. Come up with a stand alone U18 competition!! Forget the argument of clubs wanting U18 playing before the reserves and certainly forget anyone arguing that canteen sales are critical at that time of morning. Take the East Keilor group how good would their development be playing against the best on a weekly basis rather than go to div 2. Surely East Keilor FC would be far better off in a coupls of years both on the field & financially in that home growns come cheaper. Not as stupid as it sounds!!

Saw Northern v Hadfield game today, Hadfield by 10 goals in a very convincing win. Hadfield play very good footy and you can see that they are one unit, one team, they all play for the jumper, a young bloke from 18s-full fwd number10, played very well.. Potts maybe? Anyway hes a gun.
Best wishes to the player who received a pretty nasty concussion in the first quarter
Great win by Hadfield, i dont think Hadfield had a full strength team in with a few guns missing

Northern Saints looked undisciplined later in the game

Must admit that the umpiring, only the one umpire, (if you saw the match im sure you would agree)
was absolutely on another planet, dont know which planet, but he was not on earth...
Tried to take over the game with very questionable decisions, clapping to the crowd when questioned, talking back to the crowd,and giving away 50s like lollies , had no control of the game whatsoever...

West Coburg v Glenroy - This should be a top game, Whitnall one end & Grainger the other, also top effort to Grainger for kicking 100 goals already this year.West Coburg are very hard to beat on any given day especially at home. Although it wouldnt surprise me if Glenroy got up in a close one

Airport West v Taylors Lakes- Airport West to demolish Taylors

Westmeadows v Hadfield- Hadfield starting to play quality football without their VFL listed players from Williamstown & Northern Blues. Westy has had a few injuries this year although a few might be back this week. Will Singh start to find some form? who know$

Northern Saints v Tullamarine- Heard Tulla have a few injuries atm, & a bloke with a Tattoo & toupee. Northern has dropped off the last 4-5 weeks im betting they have a bit to prove this week and Derek Shaw's boys will come out firing imo

Div 2

Hillside v East Keilor- Could well be the Div 2 Grand Final preview. How will Hillside go with the week they have had? who is interim coach?

Keilor Park v Moonee Valley- this will be a great game both will want the 4 points in this one

Roxburgh Park v Jacana- Roxy should get the 4 points but Jacana i think will give it there all

Glenroy got up at west coburg today showing good form at the important time of the year.Both sides had a few players out but was a good phisycal contest with Glenroy winning by around five goals. Should be a cracker next week with Glenroy v airport west.

Had a good look at this game
T/Lakes took the game up to AW right from the bounce and were 1 goal up 1/4 time. AW made up some ground 2nd 1/4 and were 1 goal up at the main break. AW in the 3rd & 4th quarters dominated the game with approx 11 goal to 1 2nd half. AW were undermanned in their top 12 but still found a way to win both seniors & reserves.
