[QU AussieOTE="theaussieone, post: 42555915, member: 123010"]I think your right Bissa. Crazyburn on top from the Roys, Westy, Windside & Oakers IMO.[/QUOTE]
Hey Aussie, why r u so keen on Windside mate? They r coming from a long way back surely not in the same class as OP, CB, WM, Tulla, and now Roy boys? Have we had this discussion previously? CUB might be kicking in!! Bloody Big Bash! Lol

hahaha Outback. From what ive heard Windside have picked up a lot of good players. One is Thomas Drake from West Coburg, he made the EDFL team of the year in 2014. They werent as bad last year as the final ladder reflected. They will have a young, fit side in 2016 and will be hard to beat IMO.

Happy new year all!!

new year new players who would be your top 5 in comp at this stage?

for mine it would be

Shannon Broadbent best player in div1 you have got to be kidding.

Closing in on 40 yrs of age and was struggling to make an impact in premier before his departure imo, granted that was premier

Hey KFC, Shannon will win the competition medal by a good margin if he stays free of injury. That's a Monty mate.

Tamar not close to the top 5, wouldnt have Broadbent either. Im sure we all bias on here though as i could make strong cases for Cam Cloke Page Young and Jason Cloke to all be in there which is not that silly a comment. Dulic is a jet! Winter a beast, mullins best small forward. Top 10 would be easier but everyones would be different of course. In terms of a ladder ill go with

Craigie
Westy
Oakers
Roys
Tulla
Hillside
Lakes
Haddy
Saints

Just for the record I'm not biased towards Broadbent or any div1 side but his record speaks for itself. His different to some other players who go from club to club for money in that Broadbent gives you value for money, hence why a number of clubs chase him each year. Young, Tamar etc are good players but Broadbent is a better player boys.. Will run all day, and continue to put his head over the ball every time as his an inside mid not outside mid. If WestMeadows can get some outside run from players like Wilcox, Church etc and have a good game plan they will get plenty of ball into there forward line.
I'm not going to say anymore on Broadbent but at the end of the year you will all have him as no1 in this division.

PS: His record in EDFL premier, GV, WRFL div1 speaks for itself. Take some time to read it boys. He would get a game in Abers best 22 if he went there. Inside mids are not easy to find!!!

Cheers

You sure there Turbs? The bloke was a gun in GV footy for Tatura but no league medals in his prime in Goulburn Valley footy. Won Club B&Fs to his credit. Agree with everything else you described about his ability as he plays both in and out.

Fair point but 'closing in on 40' is not a fair commentary on the blokes ability. We are all closing in on 40! He must be only 35-ish surely ...

Cheers Silver. But EDFL div1 is a lower level than GV so he will kill it.

I'm not sure on comp medals but Broadbent has won a lot of club B&Fs which says a lot about his ability and what clubs think of him. Add to that he gets involved in the club and gets players involved either in good or bad sides. His a good get for any club..

I think Abers are happy with Blackwell, McLean, cubillo & patak

If you made an interleague side just from this division it would surely be the strongest 2nd division side in metro footy, would be a stronger side than a league like riddell district and they are 1 tier comp!

Hey there Larks, very interesting observation. Would make for any interesting game and debate. Even though EDFL div1 has improved, I also think the Riddel league has vastly improved over recent seasons.

My opinion is only based off the handfull of games i've seen over last few years of rdfl footy and 2 of them were GF's, I am sure it has improved! But this edfl division has some terrific talent running around. I think with out even going to far into the debate that edfl div1 would have far to many talented bigs for an rdfl side!

The Clokes, page, dulic, kite, winter to name a few!

Agree Shan has been a very good, consistent local footballer at all clubs he's played and has a great record - personal and team success.

However I can assure you he wouldn't get a look in our midfield or our starting 35.

Like I've said here before it was smart recruiting by DC and Westi to lock him in this year as he'll be great for them.

Tamar and Shan will work well together.

Only practice matches but practice match results over the years have generally gone to RDFL sides. Romsey beat Craigieburn by squillions in 2014 even if it was a different side to today's Craigieburn. At the very least that shows it's very close.

Another way to look at it is comparing players who have played in both leagues. Someone like Ryan Pretty from Tulla has almost identical stats in both leagues. I'm sure there is other examples.

Starting 35?? Fair enough each to there own mate that is what this forum is about I wont go into it but very interesting comment especially from you.

Completely different scenario, not talking team head 2 heads im talking about full strength rep sides. Irrelvant comparing teams especially in practice matches and for the record didn't crazy almost get relegated that year and romsey win it!

Maybe need an opinion of someone who has either played or wathced a lot of both leagues, but my initial thought is like i I stated before the quality bigs of the edfl, u could potentially have j.cloke at chb with dulic and young off half back, with a fwd line containing c.cloke, winter, kite! Would the rdfl have the depth of bigs to cover these blokes?
