EDFL Division 1

Gday FootyRUs, I might have to take a look at the highlights but if I can add one thing, this is what I like about the EDFL they do NOT yellow/red card or report players for a bit push & shove and maybe a few "fair" punches if 2 players are going at it. BUT agree the umpires need to be firm to control the situation to ensure it doesn't escalate. Things like players running in with swinging arms, king hits, late hits, elbows etc should be reported and suspended. I rarely see reports in premier league or the div1 games I've seen.
However div2 (and div1 - div2 reserves) needs to be watched closely, and this is where some older experienced umpires should be officiating at. There's still a few "heros" & cowards running around in the rare times I've ventured to these games. It's a shame because some of these teams have some younger kids (probably homegrown) running around and it's not acceptable to be ruining there afternoon with something untoward. You will find most of these "heros" are not tough one out, but hope if they get belted back there mates will run over and allow them to back out and come from behind or something worse. This is a major reason why players leave and play div1 or premier (if good enough) but really it's a shame as they are trying to help the clubs that bought them up.

Anyway that's my say!!!

Now that would be a smart idea and a good new topic. Surely the edfl cant allow div 1 to have the 2 byes again! Regardless of if a new team comes in or not next year we need to have 10 teams in this division. If it becomes 10, 10, and 7 so be it but there should not be relegation this year. But hopefully there is a new team or 2 that do come in so this definately happens

Just throwing it out there. Anyone think the league media could be boosted by a few more personalities and a bit more character. No offence to Teo cause he's great but the others are like boring as hell and we deserve better. Just throwing it out there, plus I also reckon they call the games ok but actually give you no real access or good insight because they not footy smart. They try real hard and it's much better than a few yrs back but just think they could do with some spark even if it a special comments but not the same ones they tried over the yrs as they been no good too.
You know what I mean, just some insider thinking hey?
Ps. Have they even played the game.

Yes there was some issues with a particular club early season which has been corrected by the club from what I know. No need for me to highlight them though. I think you get my post.,

From my limited exposure to her she does a fantastic job.
I think it's good that they give some of these uni students some experience which will hold them in good stead for their future careers, even if there are some teething issues along the way.

Can add the Barton brothers into that group too. All up there's about 50 clearances for the club. They've done well, but the great challenge is to get depth below the 1s and 2s.

With no 18s 2 years in a row and no 16s this year they have done an awesome job to be in the position to fighting for a finals birth.

Leyden has done well because he has bailed the club out of the shit they put themselves in. Why did over 20 players, the coach, reserves coach and both assistants all leave? To replace 25 guys has been a great effort. He has prob had to pay overs for them to get where they are at but he had to do it. Club still has no 18s, 16s or 14s so maybe the club people u r congratulating haven't quite got the club flying that well, but like all clubs it takes hard work.

Wouldn't surprise me if Tulla ended up in a similar situation to KP eventually with the lack of kids coming through it takes constant recruiting and paying overs to get blokes at the club

They've done well to be in finals contention when most of us had them relegated. When the league doesn't seem to care if they have juniors or not, then there's not much you can do about it and it hardly encourages them to fix it, meanwhile clubs like Glenroy, EK, Hillside this year and Craigieburn last year who have good junior programs and who promote their youth into senior footy end out fighting for division survival. Just doesn't seem fair to me.

I agree it's in the water down there has been for years doesn't matter who runs out they always around the mark
