Watched the Hillside v Lakes game. Ferraro out with an ankle in the first part of the first quarter. Strong wind to the road end. Hillside after a good start failed to kick a goal until the last quarter.
They lacked composure with the footy while the lakes played all over them. It was men against boys.
Was disappointing as I was expecting a bit more from Hillside. Stocco had no real influence on the game. Would have been good to see him up the ground to try and get him involved.
Memedi played well a very underrated player, Xuereb was allowed to roam around the half fwd line, morelli, m.desouza and Ragusa again played well. Hillside seem to lack tall strong defenders and with a young list need to inject a bit more experience to reach the top 4. Having said that they have a good coach and should only improve with their young list. I guess one should never write off Taylor's lakes. Have always been there when the whips are cracking.

Was also at the game, first time I've been to strathy's ground, I've never seen a ground with a hill so high in the middle of it, in saying that, strathmore did look the better team and hunted the ball in numbers, poor disposal by foot really cost them, sloppy contest, but round 1 is normally the one you get the ips out, will be a cracking season I reckon, good luck to all teams.

Bad result for Hillside. I would have expected them to win this if they were going to be amongst it this year.

Should be an interesting round. Cannons and Jets players available for two weeks for clubs which will help some sides.

I would expect my Eagles to get up by at a minimum of 10 goals over Glenroy. Having their Jets players available should make all the diff for Hillside in their game against Oak Park and they will secure their first win of the season by 22 points. Huge game out at Lionheart Reserve and despite a first up Lakes win I expect Westmeadows to win by 26 points. Last game of the round and Douttas should romp it in over East Keilor. If all their Cannons boys play it could get really ugly.

Tulla get the bonus 4 points.

Hillside to beat oak park in a tight game - oak park never easy to beat at jp Faulkner. Couldn't imagine hillside 0-2 could we?

Craigieburn to beat Glenroy comfortably as I don't think Glenroy will have the midfield depth to stop the ball advancing to the power forwards. Perfect start for the Eagles.

Taylors Lakes to defend home turf against westmeadows I'm not to fond of counting out Taylors lakes two weeks in a row. 2-0 and there experienced heads to drag them over the line.

An old rivalry renewed! East Keilor and EDS. This will be a hot contest early but EDS should prevail and prevail quite comfortably with or without kite and Ronaldson.

For what it is worth lads......
After going to watch the Good Friday game at Lakes Westy v Lakes looks to be the match of the round in terms of pure contest. Lakes are hard to beat on their home deck and they really looked to kick into gear in the second half last week. This will be a cracker Lakes by 4 points only because it's at Lionheart
Hillside on the other hand have it all in front of them. One can only hope that's the game they needed to work their stuff out. Oak Park are tough to beat at anytime and playing at JP Fawkner this isn't ideal for Hillside. Not a lot mentioned about OP over the break but as we all know they are tough OP by 24. Danny Campbell and his men won't just roll over and this will be a very good game but with all of the recruits at CB you would expect the CB boys to eventually get on top and defeat the Roy boys by 30 points. It will be interesting to see if EK can make an early statement as Hillside did early last season. What a task they have first up this could be the biggest margin of round 1 EDS by 70+

Glenroy v craigieburn match of the Day or TL v WM? I feel the TLS v WM might be a closer scoreline.

No clearances in for Kite or Ronaldson so does that mean EDS have given up and if so, are they staying at Glenroy?
 
I'm tipping some very one sided games this weekend

WM to beat Tl by 9 goals
Craigieburn to take down Glenroy by 13 goals
EDS to have a 15 goal win with the match of the round to be Oak park in a close one over hillside
