So, who are the recruits to look out for in 2017?

I know a lot has been said about Cloke, but it looks like CD has brought in a few and I'm sure MV will have a few more - they seem to be the quiet achievers this time of year.

From what I've heard..
Jacana- Cloke,Barry and Collis.
Northern- Magegbor, gray brothers.
Burnside- Covelli
Roxy- Elliot and Farrell
ES- Braddy
CD??
MV??
KP??

I'm gonna go against the trend and back northern saints to give Jacana a real red hot crack. Sure they have Cloke and he will dominate but there is a lot of good players still down at the saints with the inclusion of a few more.
Not as sold as most people on Jacana, alot of their recruits bar a couple are nothing special.

Nah, the goss is that no team, will get within 10 goals of the jaccas...
We might have to go to a div 4 to stem the ensuing 100 point margins that are coming......

They'll be very good mate. Personally think they'll win it, but it won't be easy. Have recruited a lot of older guys, so a youthful team full of running will be the best option IMO.

Jaccas will win it you say?

Northern still awfully young but have great spirit amongst all the young blokes who are new to club. They all want to have a serious crack at whoever. Watched them train at Parker reserve last week unbelievably young! Only lost 3 blokes I'm told, one to Greenvale now full of ex northern people, tulla , nice kid and one probably to Westmeadows, but have at least 10-12 new faces

Jacana have only lost 2 or 3 players as well and have recruited 13+ not all ones players but some quality and also hear that a couple more are on the move back to Jacana (Mitch Day from Doutta, Arnold , Smhal now staying not going to reservoir .

Can't see Mitch Day dropping 2 divisions although I do know he has links to Jacana. His a more than handy player in premier league so I hope Douttas are looking after their own.

he played all his junior footy at Jacana and has a few mates playing there again now and I hear is traveling overseas with a few boys halfway through the season his old man was still playing thier last season and is heavily involved with the club .

That's my opinion at this stage.

Then they'll be well placed to compete with Jacana who I think will be a tad on the slow side, but probably very physical.

Yeah mate that's true but I just don't think younger players should be going from premier to div3 (sorry div2) and Mitch is clearly in Douttas best 22. However is Douttas looking after their own (Mitch bring a 1 pointer) as they seem to be buying plenty of players. Maybe they are the reason his looking at his options.
I could understand him moving back if they go up a division but not sure playing in the lower division will do him any good or will it motivate him..
Anyway i guess we see how it plays out!!

Mitch came to Douttas in U14 and has played there for the last 8 years and was a pivotal player in the division 1 premiership. He is a contracted player so he won't be going anywhere except overseas with a few other contracted players. They had the courtesy to let the club and coaching staff know of their intentions prior to signing a contract.
You say Douttas are buying plenty of players if you know anything at all about Douttas you would know that 90% of the recruits are ex players who are returning and are 1 pointers. Another point I'd like to stress is that we are like all other clubs and must fit into a salary cap. You seem to think only Pacco pays under the cap as everyone plays for the jumper and love the club more than money.
Dream on Turdo but i hope this clears up the Mitch Day rumours.

Hey Simmsy, good reply however I wasn't the one saying Mitch was leaving Douttas. Pretty sure he might have signed his contract prior to the 2016 season and this being his 2nd year of the contract. As I stated, I hope he stays at Douttas.
Btw-
1- have Douttas found a ruckman yet?
2- you guys went hard at at a few inside mids, and landed 1 of them in Schroder. However I'm told you might not be playing by the rules and a few clubs (not Pacco) not impressed..

Yes you do have some 1 pointers but like Pacco need to monitor the recruiting as both clubs were regularly up around the max points last season..

Just what I'm hearing but hey I prefer to "spar" with a couple of other clubs higher up the ladder.. Lol

Also what the lastest on Clarkey? Has he fully recovered as it would be great to see him back involved in some capacity.

Here we go again.
Mitch signed his new contract less than a month ago. Douttas will have no problems in the ruck department next season and the only midfielder we chased was a home grown 1 pointer who decided to go to Strathmore and we wish him well. Please tell me which rules we are not abiding by and quite frankly we couldn't care less that other clubs aren't impressed. Thanks for your thoughts on Clarkey. He is slowly recovering but has retired as a player. He has taken a role as development coach with the juniors so he is still involved heavily with the club.
Turbo if you need any more rumours quashed or confirmed please direct them on the premier thread.

Poor comment about Doutta's looking after their own Turbo. Off the mark!
Mitch Day has resigned but is booked in to go to Europe with several other Doutta's players and will miss up to 8 games.
For that reason he probably won't play senior football with EDS. I know his father would love nothing more to see him in a Jacana jumper and maybe the circumstances next year might allow him to do it. Play a few games at the start and a few at the end, no doubt he would be one of the very best players in Div.2 and would be huge helping Jacana achieve an elusive EDFL premiership. His old man Travis played in a flag at Jacana back in the day and I'm sure that he would love to see Mitch do the same.
At this stage he is Douttas but I wouldn't be surprised that's all I'm saying. And there is 6 other mates going with him that played 1's last season that could do the same

All good mate..Hearing some more older Jacana boys getting back involved, so bit of an early buzz around the place.

If he plays next year it will be only 1-2 games. Most likely will be in the states next year

Looks like he is at the club judging from the facebook page. I did speak to a person at the club and they tell me Oak Park are refusing the clearance, a jumper or something owing??? They're just happy the kid wants to play down at the Saints, and looking at the kid he is a lump of a lad..but the other lads seem as tall too..

Northern (coming down from Div 1, will be much better than last year)
Rox (Will be up there again)
Jacana (Could swap with Rox)
CDistricts (Could be anything, but say 4)
East Sun (will improve as are young)
MV (?? - dont' know much)
KP (as above)
BS (as above)

Good luck to all teams will be an interesting and entertaining year me thinks
