We'll be ok.

We got smashed in the ruck all day on the weekend and with the inclusion of our other ruckman, who missed this week with an ankle, we will be better. All this and we were level at half time. There were also a number of others that are to come into the side, and a couple are senior players from last year.

Put the 4 players back into the seniors, bring 4 out of the bottom end, add another 6 who are injured or unavailable and that are better players than some of the ones in there and we will be fine.

I reckon we can go at least one better than the Elimination final. Of course injuries always upset the apple cart and this is no different to any other club. So, my assumptions are based on all things being equal...;)

Saturday's Cora Lynn vs Nilma reserves game was a very high standard game. I agree with previous posts about Nilma keeping with Cora Lynn for the first half and then falling away. Cora Lynn's reserves team has won something like 56 out of the last 58 regular season games so we were always going to be a tough proposition at home. The contest was played in a very high spirit throughout which was good to see. Our coach was very proud of the young guys who stood up on the day, for all of those who bake Cora Lynn for only importing players there were 16 people out there who have played juniors for the club at some stage, 15 of those in the last 2 years. The midfield was certainly where the game was won, having a league b&f winner in McEwan in the ruck and midfielders of the calibre of Helsby, Payne, Saunders and Venville this was certainly going to be a key area for the game. I also think the backline stood up alot better after half time and this certainly helped the forwards. All in all a very high standard contest for a round 4 reserves game, I think both sides will be looking forward to return game in the last round.
Looking at results so far this year I believe that the final ladder for the twos will read something like this 1. Nar Nar Goon- alot of depth seem to cruising at the moment. 2. Cora Lynn- hasn't played a full 4 quarters as yet, depth may get tested if a few injuries. 3. Nilma Darnum- Put alot of quality into senior side so therefore the twos will improve. 4. Catani- Again depth is there key. I don't think it matters who finishes 5-6 and no 2 teams stand out as yet. One of our guys was talking to one of the nilma defenders and he mentioned there was a little rumble of discontent between some of the fringe reserves players missing out so that thirds players could play twos, don't know if this is true but.

none taken, apparently the goal umpire asked if someone was playing and the guy said no, he wasn't picked because they wanted to play some thirds players.

Not true, beljak. We literally had 11 players (4 Seniors) that were either unavailable, suspended or injured. That would test most clubs and before Saturday morning, we actually had to decide on 1 out of 2 thirds kids to make up number 22. By 11am, another Senior had succumbed to injury and we could take both kids.

Every player available was playing.

If you are going to play thirds kids, you dont do it at the expense of a reserves player. For a reserves player to miss out because of a thirds kid, it would be because they were included in the seniors and one has to drop out at the bottom of the reserves.

Darnum reserves were nothing to write home about, we played poorly. Should've been further down at quarter time. We controlled the game for the last 3 quarters though and came away with a 7 or 8 goal win. would be comfortable playing them in a final

Right, you are Stan. Just the way it will be til someone knocks them off their pillar. Hope it is sooner rather than later.

Someone needs to knock us off on that last day in September to knock us off that pillar, like Longwarry did 2 years ago. I think at times people can confuse confidence with arrogance. Some people may have a bit of arrogance about them but I know that the whole side has the confidence to beat any side on any day. To put into context, I beleive that the Nilma Darnum people on this site may come across as arrogant at times, but all they have is the confidence to believe that the holy grail may be coming (in the seniors). Expecting to walk out and win every game is not arrogance, it's confidence!

Right you are Beljak. But, at times Cora Lynn have shown arrogance rather than confidence, both on here and on the paddock. There's certainly nothing wrong with being confident.

Anyone with an insight into Nilma vs Goon twos on Saturday, I thought Nar Nar Goon were going to be the team to beat.
