The Competition is cyclical and Unfortuanely it is EK turn. Maybe they should revert back to Brown and Gold jumpers for the B grade comp... to resemble their status. It work wonders for Nth Coburg wearing their tradional Guernseys. Any plan to elevate a B grade club back into A grade is a 3-5 year process unless $ fortune arrives earlier. Look at Avondale Heights they are building. A grade comp might as well only have 10 teams have 10 in B grade and bring in a C grade comp for the EDFL bottom 4 sides and enter 4 new teams Sunbury, Gladstone Park, Parkside Coburg Districts for instance. This way every team plays twice and get an even competition there is too much discrepancy from the top A Grade clubs 1-4 AND B grades top 1-4 teams in their respective divisions, given this years results there was arguably more interest in the B comp then A comp b/c B grade comp could of been won by either Marby,WC,APW,Tulla and PACO, everyone knew Strathmore were unbeatle in the A grade comp.

I think a C grade would be a good option. But then again if teams like Sunbry and Parkside join would you put them in c grade?

The EDFL could give clubs notice for instance that for season 2008, they are going to expand to three levels being A,B, and C. They would then give notice to B grade clubs that the bottom 4 clubs at the end on 2007 would form part of a new C grade. The EDFL would then give notice to clubs outside the EDFL that they will be asking for submissions from clubs (say 4 clubs to bring C grade to 8 teams) at the end on 2007. This would give everyone a full seasin to prepare for the changes. Two additional clubs could join further down the track. The EDFL would need to make sure that there were certain parameters met by clubs in terms of club structure, player and supporter behaviour, ground and clubroom standards, ability to field junior teams at all levels. This is where clubs like Gladstone Park struggle with inadequate or no juniors.

GV didn't win it first year up like DS in '99. Huge changes in the past 5 years or so. Would be a huge effort these days to do the double.

yes you correct, Greenvale won the A grade the nexy year, there second year in A Grade. I got the years mixed up. :thumbsu:

My friend ,you would fine that Doutta Stars was the only side to win B grade and then the next year A grade.

yes you are correct, Doutta was the only club to win B Grade and A Grade the next year, well in the last 10 yeras. It will not suprise me if there was someone in the 1980's or eailier that did it.

He does indeed.

Apprantly the problem is neither are keen on the actual coaching role. But are both very willing to assist. Will be interesting which one ends up with the head role.

Hey Barts,
KLACKS has said that Baxter has signed on. Will G Arrowsmith coach reserves or take the role of President. You would think that Grant has done his fair share as club president.

No, he is in the same role as baxter from what ive heard. They are yet to decide who will be coach and assistant coach.

IMO a great move by the club, and great to see him back at EK. Grant is a top bloke and will be sure to persuade some quality players to the club.

He will have no role on the commitee from what ive heard.

Couldn't agree more Jama - Well Said

Strathmore - Is the $$$$ still being pumped in ??
Douttas - Who will coach in 07 ?? Is the Carey heading North ??
Greenvale - Pride will be hurt and they will bounce back in 07 ???
Keilor - Has all this spending awoken a sleeping giant ?

Oak Park - Rebuilding or having a dip in 07 ?
Avondale - Harvey Little ? Is he the man (no senior coaching experience)
Aberfeldie - Is there life after Minty will Casey & Woods return ?
Craigieburn - Could be a big improver in 07 is Sheldon still coaching
Keilor Park are they going to be the real deal ??? Will Joe & Mercs play
West Coburg - Can they make up the 10 goals diff b/w A & B Grade ???

Can't see the cash being a problem at SM.

I went to their Sportsmans night a while back and was very impressed with what I saw, not with the turn out, but more so the way the place is run.

They have some well organised people down there and a real sense of pride. Sticks Kernahans we are carlton the rest can **** of was actually said that night with a SM slant on it !!!!

The quality of the people involved will mean they will always find cash.

I know I went back to my club KP and said that is where we need to be !!!

Simply they get the players because they run the place like a business

No doubt JAMA the Devils are on the right track with someone joining the Executive with the business acumen and calibre of person of M Bentley the club is on the right track.

Is that a business or a brewery?

Spot on The baromater, the big moo will bring a wealth of skills to the club

Hope he does well, although i have some concerns:rolleyes: Could be the reason some of the old faithful are on the move ;)

Strathmore a brewery, would hope not especially give their recent liquor licence problems:eek:

here are my answers

stra- if hillie stays the money will. some players will be going
douttas- carey staying has signed for 07. b.gray will not get the job
greenvale- will look to get a hard mid during the off season
keilor- will pick up some guns next year. SA boys l assume.
oak park- players will leave, tubo is back and bones is at westy. will play after round 8 the mail is.
abers- surely they could have found a better coach for the job, must be running low on coin.
craig- have the money and will spend it next year.
kp- all the talk is about them, lets just wait and see. **** ground tho
wc- will be buying players(have the coin), have good juniors. looking to sign a high profile coach, not sure if this is true

b grade

mp- silly season has started, anything can happen heard the water boys are even on $150 a game?
apw- will go close to winning it, great young players. will get some quailty in the off season
pv- ezard coaching again, kids will learn and be better
who cares after these teams

Strathmore - my mail from their B&F count is the budget at Mascoma st will be reduced in 2007 - from what ive heard the top flight players , are safe but the next rung may be faced with pay cuts also no baxter coaching on the ground will be a loss
Douttas - has any one applied for the job ?? , will the boort boys return ?
Keilor - will keep list apart from a few retirements, and will be a player in recruiting this yr , a few rumours doing the rounds with the coaching staff but - re houston and barbutto - whats goin on there
avondale - will they loose a few? , the pacco boys claim meacham signed sealed and delivered , are the brad lloyd rumours true ?..... harvey little could be a make or break signing depending on what he can add to the list .
Aberfeldie - do we know why they axed the hyphen ? - again big test for the coach again a make or break signing , can this guy cut it ???
crazy burn - who knows , any news on there coaching appointment , they have all the ingrediants , but need 4 bigger names that have got footy in them , not old guys chasing coin ( ala marby )
west cob - will be competitive if they can add a few , use crazyburns first yr as a guide , how competitive I spose depends on how many they add
kp - anybodies guess ( take away the rioli signing and would have to be odds on for bottom 3 again =
Super's september call .....I cant see much change in the top 4 clubs - the gap in resources may just be to big still ...with 3 clubs imo at the "east keilor 2005 " crossroad

It was only an example; I agree what thru da lines suggested give clubs notice and make arrangements. I would think a submission will need to be provided by new clubs wanting to join. Would Sunbury and Parkside join EDFL in C Grade? Probably not however, you can elevate them by having each team in B and C grade play a round robin preseason comp and have work out rankings from there who knows there might be a few surprise's and get every team that’s fair dinkum to actually build a football club instead of making up the numbers.
