Pure speculating, just think it makes a fair bit of sense when there are 3 teams in the one area and all struggle to get juniors.

Gee a bit rough on EK when they have Under 10s, 12s and 16s all looking at playing finals football this year. To me that doesn't look like they are struggling?

I see on the Northern FL forum that Couta and Hollow are nearly certain to finish up at Epping shortly.

I'm pretty sure that Couta Carrick put in for the job or was close to coming across as a player earlier in the year at Douttas.

Can any of you Douttas blokes confirm? - would be handy pick ups at this stage of the season.

Right you are along with Gathercole coming back some handy inclusions this time of year

You make good Points,

Yes the ladder is a changing situation, trouble is, when you look at the ladder from ten years ago, KP are in the bottom 3 or 4 and still are,

No progress has been made in improving the position or strengthening the club,

Yes there may be some home grown stars in the seniors, but not very many are up to it !!!!

Look at the tallent running around in other sides

All of the better senior players have left for much the same reason, the club is poorly organised, has a culture that is more of a social club rather than a football club, and lacks drive and success

You your self sound like you are well entrenched at the club ???

Are you one of the much needed that gets the 7 sides out each week ?? Well done if you are.

I still think they are in trouble, just cant see how they can be viable in the long term

No arguments from me, results show that the current team isn't up to A Grade standard, but they are still out there. My point is exactly what you make above - the club is not in a situation to be competitive in A Grade.
I just don't think it's because of poor organisation or lack of drive. It's more a matter of not enough cash (we can't all have a Hille or Allison tipping in) and competition from other clubs in a small area.

Rather than bagging KP for being in bottom half of A Grade I think they should be applauded for hanging in as long as they have against the odds.

What makes their chances of survival any less than recent clubs that have been relegated.

This discussion is another indication of the increase in professionalism at the local footy level. It would appear that this is another case of local footy reflecting changes occurring at the higher levels. As the money being spent increases then the fact is some clubs (e.g. Fitzroy-Sth Melb) get squeezed. They either have to find more money on there own or find other ways to become more competitive - as suggested previously merger is one way or even just relocation or change of leagues perhaps.
The fact is that IF and I mean IF, a club wants to be successful at A grade or Div 1 level then $200,000 is fast becoming the benchmark. It's just fact. Can't change it now once the horse has bolted!!
To think it wasn't that long ago we were all s.hit canning SM for spending big, but 1-2 years later the other big clubs just worked out that a little more $$ had to be spent. There's nothing wrong with all this as long as local footy can sustain it overall, in my opinion.:thumbsu:

Who is Winning your Clubs B & F at the 1/2 way Mark ???

Greenvale - Rama Pekes
Strathmore - Mazzeo / Holman ?
Keilor - Marcy / Whichello
Avondale L Owen
W Coburg Hoaucher
Doutta Laverde
Oak Park Boake
CBurn Nolan
Abers Shephard / Egan
K Park Rioli

It could just about be time that the administrators of the EDFL look at adding 1 more team to A grade, when you look at B grade their are probably 4 maybe 5 sides that could accomodate the rigours of A grade finacially and talent wise.

In my opinion a Pascoe Vale and/or Airport West would give Keilor Park a touch up and probably wouldnt be all that far off Abers,Craigieburn and Oak. I have no doubt Marby would be a top 4 side in A grade this year and Roxburgh Park really have the potential to become a power of the league, they seem to have a decent list of footballers and have some powerfull men backing the club, they would be my bolter for next year.

I just think adding that extra team would work wounders for the league, imagine the crowds at a Roxburg Park vs Craigieburn derby or a Pascoe Vale vs Oak Park derby, would be great for the league and create more interest.

Thoughts??

Great idea, but do you then extend the season an extra two rounds so it stays fair.
For example if you were one of the teams vying for 3rd or 4th in A grade this year it would be a very big advantage if you only had to play Strathmore or Greenvale once. It would nearly gaurantee you a place in the finals.
I believe this is the reason why it hasn't happened so far.

Brent Gordan would be close for C/burn

Watch Airport West a few weeks ago and they have along way to go to beat the bottom 2 in A grade.

The league would most certanly have to go to 18 games, which is the case in the GV, works out best for everyone.

I suppose if the EDFL wants to take the next step to get the Eastern F.L,GV and O&M standard not just on the field but off the field in regards to structure, fixturing and marketing wise then why not model it on one of those leagues. The GV is a perfect example, if anyone has been up their to watch any local games of footy when you head out to Moroopna or Echuca or Rochester their is always a grand stand full of people of cars right around the ground. I think the fact the league is covered so well by the media and the rivalries are really blown up by the media that their is so much interest in the games up their.

I am positive if the EDFL had any idea what so ever that they could have got 4-5k at a Strathmore vs Greenvale games on Saturday night or Sunday arvo, it would be huge. I know when Seymour came up against Rochester and Echuca their where 3-4k to watch a Saturday arvo game.

The A grade league is already 18 rounds, with each team playing each other twice. If you add an extra team this would then create a bye.

Don't think you can compare EDFL to top country leagues crowd wise, the SANFL and WAFL barely attract the types of crowds you talk of.
Don't think an extra team is needed for A Grade, too many blow outs already. If anything I'd drop a couple and make a 3 tiered system, would make for much closer footy across all grades.
A Grade should be as elite as possible in my opinion.

Fully agree. There's been nothing this season to suggest that the A grade comp needs another team!! Why add another weaker club?? Granted this year there is a bit of a log jam in the middle of the ladder which is great, but IMO this would be capitalized on by implementing the top 5 suggested not by adding more cannon fodder......

has played A grade footy and cricket..unlike yourself fatman...back to the mower you illiterate barfly!!

Any news from the Stars on Couta, King, Hollow and perhaps Jacobs.

I heard this morning that perhaps Hollow, King and Jacobs may be staying now at Epping but Carrick is still on the move?

Would be big inclusions if you were able to pick up any of the four.

None of your business goon

Saving them for the Abers game.

Bob Chutman ( Ruckman) from Dunnybrook F.C. in the Nth Qld FL will be strutting his stuff next week once paperwork is completed.
Can play according to the Borky Times,a local paper up there.

Results from today:
Greenvale defeated Strathmore by 9 points
Taylors Lakes defeated Marby by 2 goals
Went to the Taylors Lakes v Marby game today and have to say it was a cracker of a game very good standard of footy. Taylors Lakes were very good all day even when Marby threatened they withstood it with some fierce attack on the football and good run allover the field.
From what i saw they done it without Gilmour too whos been their main forward didn't see him out there.
I'm sure we'll hear about how many players Marby had out which i'm not too sure how many maybe a couple but they were just outplayed today by a determined Taylors Lakes.
