If this is true that is already 6 quality senior players leaving Keilor this year.

What is going on down there?

Very simple - for many years Keilor have been competitive and won premierships with home grown kids plus a few recruits here & there. And with a relatively conservative playing budget. Much to most peoples frustration.

$$$$$ have now just become too attractive for the young blokes to resist. The problem is not at Keilor just look down the road.

Put urself in these blokes shoes that are leaving keilors shoes. You're young, possibly looking to buy your own place. At the end of the day these big dollars can take the presure off. $600pw in Towner's case is a weeks loan repayement for some. Why wouldnt u take it if you can get it?

Haven't heard anything out of Craigieburn as yet.... though I'm led to believe they have some coin to spend in the next year or two. Until they recruit the cream to compliment their home grown talent they'll just be a competitive team making up numbers though. As for KP I wouldn't be expecting too much from them. If they could win as many as they lose I think Marcus and the boys down there should be happy...
Craigieburn have picked up some very good players out of the NFL for 2008 at least 3 have definitely signed the dotted line.

I've heard Keilor arent the only ones in trouble next season. Talk is doutta's are set to lose a few of there top midfielders. Marby look like the favourites to get them at this stage. Theres a saying "money talks
bullsh!t walks!!

Maybe the money Marbi are paying qualifies them for VFL status.

The only hope they have of getting Jimmy and Joey is if they join the VFL because that's where the two will be having a kick by the look of it.

I doubt very much they'll be going back to VFL. From the info i've heard 1's spoken to a vfl club and the other is pretty close to a deal with marbo. Unless you have other info to share

Loyalty..... Mates....... Character..... A place to have a beer in 20 years time ???

Chase the $$$ up in the bush.... Don't play against your junior club

Why would clubs pay out big bucks this coming year and them in 2009 the point sytem comes in and they had to piss all those players off.Wake UP!!!

Wouldn't players that are already at the club be treated differently?? they would/should have a cross over period to the new system....??? surely!! Otherwise that'll be the end of the league as a force in Victoria....

They are dirty words these days, Loyalty, Character, they wouldnt even know what they mean..

how are these blokes going to feel playing against mates for an extra $200 a week, and when the money's gone then what, will they go running back to the old clubs??

Very Disappointing:mad::confused::thumbsdown:

It will work something like this:

Each team will have 40 points to play with.

Ex AFL player 50+ games = 6 points

Ex AFL player 50- games = 5 points

Ex senior VFL player (player must be in the system over the last 4 years) = 4 points

Ex VFL Reserves/TAC footballer (as above) = 3 points

Ex senior footballer from Victorias main leagues leagues (GV,Eastern,O&M,Ballarat,Northern,WRFL,Geelong,Hampden,Mornington,West Gippsland) = 2 points

Home grown footballer or footballer been at club 3 years or longer = 1 point

Each footballer will dowgrade 1 point for every year they are at the club.

This is preety much how it works at the other leagues around Victoria, the system is flawed and really does bring the standard of the league down. It is supposed to reward loyalty but I fear that clubs will now offer much higher $$ to the best ex AFL/VFL footballers to get them before others do, could really do more bad than good.

I dont know about that champ.I think i rather watch more close games, even if the standard does drop off.Would you like to watch Greenvale ,S/more and Keilor all the time in finals or make it a more even comp?

The standard wouldnt drop of that much and who cares... its a local comp not the bloody AFL or VFL................

Well my friend you are wrong on one and jimmy is trying out at port melbourne.Good luck to him.

Who am i wrong on? I've got a very good source!
Hollow has been speaking to Werribee; Levedes and Ramsay have been speaking to marbo park. Also not sure if its true or not but turner has fallen out with Brian Gray and is heading back to Westy or even Glenroy i think.

Hey blastoff if the money was right would you come out of retirement and play next year for the Stars???Seems as if they could use a bit of muscle and grunt in the midfield if Jimmy and Joey arent playing???

WAXY

If thats how the systems works then Strathmores GF side is worth about 30 points. Can't see how that will even up the comp.

Hollow, yes is speaking with Werribee.
Laverde, shook hands with B Gray and will be at the first day of pre season (hand shake means more that a piece of paper i think)
Ramsey, is a signed Doutta Stars Player
Turner, is a signed Doutta Stars Player, AND did not have a falling out with the coach at all..

source is very average i think...

I'm not certain, but I wouldn't think GV's team would exceed the 40 points either... Paxman has been there four years now so would be worth nothing the ex coburg boys wouldn't have been there for four years and by the time the sytem comes in would've been at the club 2 years....etc etc Ur right if that's how it worked neither would be effected.

The loyalty has gone out of footy it seems. With most people prepared to sell themselves to the highest bidder.

The info i've received is that ramsay is yet to sign his contract, hence the meeting with marbo park earlier last week. Maybe im mis informed. Turner was on the westy footy trip and apparently left the stars for personal reasons as well.
