He will fit right into B grade as he took Doutta Stars their.CAN'T COACH
Yeah definately wrong Blastoff(tossoff) as im pretty sure the stars first year in B grade was in 93 ;) and to be brutally honest i think your one of the main reasons that they went to b grade as back then you were in you prime and in your last game ever you kicked goals and took a hangar??? is that right??? so who knows if you had of played in 92 things may have been different :D

Also the only reason you didnt get along with shane, the rumour has it you were considering coming out of retirement in 95 but they(Shane/and the club) wouldnt give you the $400 you wanted???is this true???Greedy prick :(

Huge get for Keilor - wonder how the young blokes going to Marby Park feel now. I believe players come with him wherever he coaches - do you have any news in this area?
Very Good get from Keilor. I wont talk up our chances next season as Greenvale and Strathmore are super sides, but we might not be as bad as everyone on here has predicted.

that is a massive get by keilor - justifies the length of the process, he will no doubt get more from the current crop and attract some quality players to a side that was 3rd last yr
It really throws the challenge out there....not just to smore & greenvale , but to the other 7 clubs ,... you all need to lift to reach the 3 top dogs

According to a recently departed forward, the above is "correct weight".

A official anouncement will follow later today?

Unfortunatley this late appiontment will not sway the departing masses at KFC.
Des Gleeson has waved his hand ''Correct Weight" an official announcement has been made.

I think the departing masses would be due to the money it would cost to get mcguane!!! There is no doubt he's a great get, but if you don't have any money left to pay players then who's he gonna coach?? Yes he will get more out of anyone that's there, if he's as good as people say, but the fact is that they'll need the cattle out there too. Hopefully he's along term appointment and they do take it to another level.

Great appointment for the league as a whole, raises the profile yet again!!!!:thumbsu:

bomber - dont think keilor would be short of the coin to pay mcguane and a what ever recruits they need
maybe the sleeping giant has awoken and decided they need to loosen the pruse strings a bit and invest as smore and gvale have to bridge the gap

The players that left did so well before any coach was announced for the allmighty $$$.
Maybe the $$$'s have been kept for new recruits??? Wait & see.
Let's remember the current group of players have not challenged the top two since 2003 when they went through undefeated & then were beaten by Greenvale in the g/f.
Why spend more on the same players to finish 3rd???

That may be the case Super and am of the opinion that the more competitive teams we can have the better!! The problem being, who are they gonna recruit now?? There have been a lot of names snapped up already whilst they concentrated on signing a coach.... I'll wait and see as I'm sure their are some players out there somewhere, but they may have missed the boat on some key players. As I said the over riding factor is that it is great for the club and the league to have Mcguane on board.;)

Keilor has spent little in recent years , so it should have cash to spend, and while you say there are no players out there left to recruit i will say this, Keilor does not rely on recruiting players from within the EDFL , The net is far and wide , and with two signings from the Sunraysia league already and the supposed 6 Mick will bring from The Eastern and Riddel leagues we will be competitive once again ,

All sounds positive up the hwy then!! That's probably what sets the top 3-4 teams in the EDFL apart is the outside recruiting, getting the player no-one else has heard of or at least getting in first. Obviously having the ability to out bid is very helpful too.....

At a cost. They should put a TAB in keilor rooms with him their, opps better not he owes owes money now.

how very true !!
when at gisborne spent nearly every day down at the tote had his car stolen from out the front supposedly (left it running with keys in it ) so find that hard to believe and also had some major issues down tassie im told also, put those issues aside and keilor have them selves a guy with possibly one of the best football brains in the country ask anyone he has played under and im sure they will tell you the same expect big things from keilor this yr with his signing even with several big names leaving as mcguane is a specialist in getting the best out of all players and lifting their games to another level

Would be a great get for your club, dont know about playing now.getting long in the tooth.Which club is he looking at?
Great fella , Johnny would be at least 35 now i reckon but looks after himself so may look younger , He would rely on aggression now i reckon ,has been around a few clubs i think he played 9 years for 9 different clubs at one stage , have not seen him play for a few years though, But a good bloke.

Boys, Keilor will be fine now they have appointed a coach. This coaching appointment was worth the weight. All these boys have signed at Marby park and OEG but non of them have been cleared as yet. Which I am sure the club has no problems doing. But maybe some of the departing might change there minds? And if it is not this next season they will come back and be around in 2009.

DOn't be suprised if keilor only loose one or two from last year's team.

Signing some paperwork means nothing these days.

But it will be interesting how Keilor will afford to keep there home grown while bringing in some big recruits.

Good Luck boys in 08 you have recruited a super coach has is a proven preformer.

What a terriffic signing by Keilor, the bloke probably gets 40 phone calls every off season for coaching jobs....!!

Pity that some home grown Keilor blokes have moved on before a coach has been signed.

I understand Mark Zucco was weighing up a decision to return to KP next season, so this signing may change a few minds........from what I have heard, Mick pulls no punches, training and on gameday....the odd sunday session as well....!!

Good luck to Keilor in 08....:thumbsu:

Waxy...

You seem to know a fair bit about the stars. How is their recruiting going? Who have they picked up? Can they get back to there form of 2006 and be a general finals contender again?

Interested to know from anyone else who knows anything also

Cheers
