Guys can you do me a favour? Go to www.wcfc.com.au and go to the fans forum and participate in the poll that I have there. Look forward to seeing your responses. :)

I will be doing polls regularly so if you have any questions relating to West Coburg I would be more than happy to put them on there. :thumbsu:

also matty with your inside knowledge of the edfl do you no of any other signings clubs have done

Gazza. The EDFL is just getting stronger and stronger and their have been many more comings then goings.

Marby are looking solid. After a slow preseason they have signed David Weston.

The Garbutt link is his strong friendship with Nathan Zerafa, Dave Weston and Sasha Nomouski. With a 80% knee being right, B Grade and playing with his good mates may look attractive for big Garbs. Nothing signed yet.

B Grade will be extremely strong. West Coburg would have to start Premiership favourites with Haoucher, Flavel, Kakoor, Trav Micklewaite, Messaike, Abbouchi, Sam Vass ALL returning to the club.

Strathmore are the side without a doubt. The great Craig Hille has snapped up; Tim Harvey (Box Hill VFL), Johny Lindsey and Josh O'Neill (Port Colts Premiership) watch out for Lindsey, John Tate (G'Vale) last years Comp Runner, Two A Grade WRFL Seddon midfieldlers, Michael O'Brian returns from Osteitis who is a top 10 comp player and they are working on a WAFL ruckman who is deciding between the Mores and Old Xav's.

Avondale have recruited 4 solid players from Parkside (Power, Krulijak, Destonavic and Karavias), the tough Mo Albadine and the Paco F.Forward
Chris Meecham. Also in talks with Johnny Angelopolous, Jim Fezzalari from Moonee Valley. They should be around 2-5 in 2006. Watch out for Leigh Owen.

Are these moves official. I spent a bit of time playing on DeSousa last season and he made me look quite silly a few times. If they are done deals massive loss for the Lakers.

Taylors won't be easy beats. They have still picked up a few from Oakers and had a strong Reserves and U/18's.

The only thing that will beat them is the comp standard going up another notch. GLENROY and JOHN BARBUTO are spending big cash, Marby should be strong, West Coburg have got 8 good players and are very confident, especially DOM the President and Airport West. Micheal Martin, Pappa, Ben Verrall, Marcus Barclay, Rocky Senese, Sivio Fashini, Ray Steer and a group of very handy 2nd year U/18 players.

Cavey,
i`d be careful, the only carroll is creative with is his fist behind play on the unsuspecting!

Matty, I can't believe you're touting Mo Albadine as a big recruit!

But Keep up the good work champ, the EDFL needs you.

Matty, would you care to have a crack at the EDFL Team of the Decade, say 1996 to 2005.

Matty is the EDFL football show coming back on Channel 31 this year??? Maybe you can mention Big Footy on it.
I hope for you sack and my sake that Marby do well and dont choke in the finals like last year. Look out for Moonee Valley, they will be strong in B Grade

garbutt will play only the required 6 games to qualify for finals, but those 6 games will be for big $$$ this is due to his injury problems that play havoc with his job at the force response unit with VICPOL.

The EDFL t.v show will be back bigger and better in 06. Because of our hard work over the years and strong ratings the great news is the show has been promoted to WEDS - 6.30pm - 7.30pm. I just hope I can secure enough sposnsorship to cover csoting of program. I lost a bit financially and lost more in time so with a bit of luck I can increase sponsorship for advertising. With the new timeslot I think the ratings will nearly double. No news to compete with, Junior trainings are 5pm-6pm so are finished in time, people get home in time from work. So hopefully all goes well.
Regards to Marby most people think they are spending way over their budget. Its a fact that 8 regualer senior players play for NO $, then the original Scotty/Dean Agrestas, Gilpin, Milo Bangit, Krugers, play for only $60 a match and functions. So with the great profit they have made and with Glenn Allisons contributions they have landed a few good players for under there value. Most wouldnt know, but Zerafa gets 1/4 of his G'vale salary and Nash 1/2 of his Strathmore offer. Fitness and no injuries in finals will help. Athos and Nash were limping into the changerooms both finals. I also think an extra year together will help. The scary thing is West Coburg, Glenroy and Airport West have recruited AWESOMELY and Westmeadows pretty well. The Paco's, Lakers, Valley's and Tulla's will also be in the finals hunt. Look out for the strongest B Grade Comp in Victoria by a mile.
Lastly, the Valley's will be competitive, but have lost some quality.

Speaking with Garbs the other week and having lunch with his 2nd brother Zerafa yesterday the knee has come up much better than expected.
THe $$$ won't be as big as Greenvale, despite what you hear. His move living in Port Melbourne and saving himself 30 extra mins on road is also a factor.

Matty, your brother's looking in very good shape. Can he play?

Unfortunately he is worse than me and I am a bit of a hack myself. He has lost some weight though. Hopefully, he can start pulling a few more sheila's before Essendon and Marby F.C's take over his life again.

Mo Albadine has actually improved immensely over the past 2 years as he has got off the weights and started triathlons. I think he will be a honest A Grade player who can neglect a tall and run well for a 92kg man. He also tends to intimidate some forwards.

Thanks a lot. I would love to have a crack and actually had mentioned this with Brett Scott a few months ago (good minds think alike). If the EDFL give it the thumbs up it would be a great exercise.

thats one of the ones i was refeering to garbutt to marby park

Gazza, I am having another crack at Marby. Just getting over a few speedhumps from a broken hand that is still in a cask. I broke it in the 2nd semi vs Craigieburn in August and it has needed to be re-set and I have put a few kilos on so the running has began. I look forward to playing with Weston and Garbutt.
I look forward to mentioning some other recruits next week.

Matty do you know anything about Tim Harvey? His name seems to pop up in every conversation when I talk to people about EDFL and recruiting! Apparently a very good player with great skills and will be in the top few in the comp.... Any truth?

Tim Harvey will unquestionably be a Top 5 EDFL player if he plays at Strathmore.

Was a Box Hill Hawks regular and consistently had the better of AFL Listed players.

Unfortunately the system stinks in that quality VFL players are being prised away by local clubs offering $$$ too good to refuse.

You are right about the dollars and in particular Harvey, Vermont offered him four figures per game. Obviously Strathmore`s extensive junior program is not having the desired results.

Eddie sorry I mean Matty you are becoming a very popular person on this thread ;), why is that so??? Anymore news you heard around the traps the other EDFL clubs. How will the new clubs (Roxburgh Park and Sydenham Hillside go in there second season).

Strathmore actually have good juniors, particularly right now with their 18's and 16's. I guess they just aren't patient.
It must be hard for these kids though, coming up through the ranks knowing that senior opportunities will be very limited at Strathmore. They won the flag last year and have recruited more quality over the summer, it will be interesting to see how many of the u/18 premiership side that are now open age players hang around and how many go elsewhere in order to play senior footy in 2006.
