Wookie, are you also forgetting the great Chris Tankard? (in my EDFL Team of the Decade)

Glenn MacLaren & J Pattison were also in the team from memory.

Matthew, were Avondale Heights undefeated in 2004?

I think Douttas lost 1 game in 98 by 7 points to Tulla.

The Avondale and Greenvale teams of 2004 and 2002 were BOTH undeafeated all year.

The Douttas 98 were good, but the standard was much lower back then.

AUSSIE DUDE- Look, I agree and it would of been close. You probably never know. The Jets top 12, maybe just, but I like Marby's bottom 5 better. Backline for the Jets was HONEST at best.
The Hts in 2004 were awesome also. I think Weston, Murphy and J,Bell all firing will do damage in B Grade.
W.Coburg have picked up 10 good players after finishing 2nd and APW have a team which would have won most years.
The main question I want to ask everybody. Who will challenge the Great Craig Hille's team Strathmore and why???

I dont understand what Marby have done to be rated so highly, or is just from all their own players saying 'how good they are'

When your looking at the Doutas 98' Greenvale '02 and Avondale 04' its fine to talk about these teams and rate them, because they have all actually achieved something and are Premiership sides but with Marby I dont even know why they are being comparred? If they do well this year then by all means talk about them, but as for now how about show some results before you all start talking it up.

If by the end of round 13 marby are sitting un-deafeated, every side has played them and hasnt even looked close to beating them,i suppose then you can start talking yourselves up a little bit. But finishing on top of the ladder at the end of the year doesnt mean your the best team. Just ask Port Adelaide im sure they'll be bale to tell you that.

Matty, make sure you add Zerafa to my list. Also guys like McLellan (a grade team of the year), oconner, abboud (captain), webber, corr, nunziato and sash made up the rest of the side.

Who do you think would win?

Personally i reakon g/vale would, as they had more players coming straight from vfl and younger better versions of garbutt and Athos. Their weakness was in the back six, but the ball never went down there so who would know.

We have a decent level of after 10th players- Dave Whelan, Jack Scott, B. Corr, R.Gilpin, S.Agresta, C.Burns (2002 B Grade Comp winner).

The Hts 2004 were Very Strong for B Grade and Greenvale 2004 were very strong for A Grade. I think the overall standard of 2004 is not as good as this year will be or last, but the Jets and O.Park had great sides. Keilor were pretty good also in 2004. Just lost both finals by under a goal.

Understand what your saying. Just fun to compare before hand, as Marby and W.Cob have great lists on Paper to compare with these other past Premiership winners.

Not the greatest fella in the world either, ridiculously arrogant for someone who didn't cut it at Carlton. Anyone would think his VFA achievements Rookie of the year, 100 club games etc was achieved at AFL level.

Mate u must be joking, The year you are referring to is 2002 am i right? Sipthorpe Moore and Gilmour didnt play until 2003, and coburg rolled willy at coburg not punt road. Did you actually play for coburg or are you talking S*** i think u are talking sh**.

Me joking??? , mate your a goose the year im talking about is 2003 round 1. Ash Craig was captain of the 2s and that was his last game he played after walking off the ground when he was dragged in the first quarter. That game Gilmour,Sipthorpe and Moore played and we where full of players who ended up playing seniors and 2 (Randello,Rayson) who became vice captains.

We also beat Willy at Punt Rd in 2004 in about round 8, our side wasnt that strong but we still rolled them. Big Warren Carlyle got reported that day and suspended. I think Carlyle went over to Perth and is now a big recruit for Port Melbourne.

Strathmore to go underfeated and Greenvale a certainty for finals with 3rd and 4th up for grabs.

Doutas are super confident.

I hear Keilor are quietly looking fairly strong. They have lost a couple blokes but have picked up a couple from the SANFL, Troy Patterson will play more than 5 games, James won't be injured all year again and rumour is that Jamie Cuffe is back - who was in the top 5 players in the EDFL whilst he played.

Good call. It will be very close between Avondale - Doutta's - Keilor and Abers for the other two (especially if they improve and recruit an on-baller which they need).
Keilor Park have a fair few on their list and could suprise.
I know Jets have lost Garbs and Tate. I think if they keep Mclellan and Bloomfield they will be up there behind Strthmore and if not then there probably closer to the other 4.
Buttigieg to the Hts is a great recruit. They are quietly confident down Canning St. Meecham fit will be great for them.

also... best night for jacana tonight... very good numbers in the seniors and 18s and was defienetly best training session.

few young kids decided to take it upon themselves and become a leader at the club after losing a few experienced players.. heard them talking and they want to prove to the ones who left it wasnt worth leaving.. and that if they wanted to return they would be most unwelcome....

but they looked really good tonight and good luck to em!

If your saying that the players that left Jacana would be unwelcome then you don't understand what Jacana is about. Jacana would except these players back with open arms as the reason for them to leave were not directly rlate to the playing personal rather income, etc

tige19 l think you are the goose "Ash Craig was captain of the 2s and that was his last game he played after walking off the ground when he was dragged in the first quarter" your words your quote no one else!
He was capatin(A.Craig) is that while everyone else was getting on with there football life and not wasting there time at coburg!
I think by the sounds of it you wasted your time there and thats why your not playing anymore and just watching. The vfl system does not benefit any other blokes/players except the ones that are drafted or rookies. When will people learn and take note and not waste there time and move on.

I dont know what your trying to prove by quoting what i say, you get used to it on this website, very little people make sense.

I was first year out of under 18s (4 years ago) and thought the VFL was the natural step, but yes i did learn quick and moved on and am currentley in the GV. I lasted all but 1 and half seasons in the VFL, it was a good experience but not one i would recomend.

Cheers, they should have lefted the system how it was, there was nothing wrong with it in the first place.

What is goin on with all these rumours, know 4 a dead set fact he has not signed on anywhere. But is leaning 2wards westmeadows with the paul houstan link

Football would be in a muc better state if they got rid of the VFL 2s, it provides little opportunity for the players and is a waste of time and money, imagine how much better local footy would be if these players were playing EDFL...

your right in a way.. but blokes who stuck through hard times will be rewarded rather the ones who only wanna jump on board when there is money and success... it is a topic that has been discussed.

also might be hard to come back when there is no club to come back to because off players going off and chasing a bit of coin...

the vfl system is not a good one but the experience you get the fitness is above any local league plus you train on and play on better grounds so after a few years in my belief you go back to local clubs a better player so tell me did you play seniors or were you one of the bitches who always complained about how afl players were trated better most of them blokes i played with had a very high opinon of themselves but it seemed no one else did and before you ask i played vfl for 3 seasons i managed about 35 senior games at 2 different clubs who both were affiliated with afl clubs and from what i remember ash craig was a handy player with coburg and also to say its not that good i remember lining up in a reserves game with dave weston rabee haoucher alex totora mark budge anthony aloi damien lang dennis bicer richard and tim little steve vernon not bad for a vfl reserves team all dominate whereever they play

agree... have had the opportunity to train and play with a vfl club and you certainly do get fitter.. also its good because when your there who have access to a wide range of things such as the pool, gym, massuese etc... so when you do get back to the local leauge you will be a lot fitter that what you would of been.

the vfl also gives opportunities to kids who were injured during their final year in the TAC Cup, ans players who did not get drafted that year. So in a way it can benefit the right player(s).

Mate do not start saying you know dead set facts when you are dead set wrong. He has signed at West Coburg!
