A lot of posts have mentioned how it is a disgrace because they are an A grade club. Forget that. Whether it be A grade or D grade that is a disgrace. It is no more or less acceptable for any team to do it.
What is more worrying is that the players agreed to it. If our coach told us not to go back out I can assure you we would be out on that field and the coach would not be there next week.
A complete lack of character and a blight on the competition. East Keilor deserve the harshest possible punishment.
I now have a new least liked club.

Are we just speculating on the EK situation or has someone got evidence that they pulled the pin to save their percentage ??? l just find it hard to believe that the coach and committee would stoop to that level to not be relegated. Surely they have more integrity than that. Dont they?????????

I dont think it matters what the reason is.
You finish a game.
If players have a tight calf they can sit in a pocket. No way could they have had enough serious injuries to force them to throw in the towel.

What would have happen if the oppostion needed the % to to make finals or finish 2nd instead of 3rd and have a double chance in the finals. Luckly not the case here.

Not much of a list there Bricksta. Take out the 2 old blokes and theres 6 who might have played a game or the cast of thousands on the "verge" of playing. They might be "verging" for a while I'd say. No hope for them with the money men lining up. Wonder how many of the big money men will be there next year when the cash fades.

obviously you all know i play for EK... and i can tell you exactly what happened.

Before the match Shaun Smith pulled out with a knee injury.
and 2 ressies players that were named in the ones also pulled out due to injuries sustained the week b4 and in a tackling drill on thursday.
2 of our players were named VFL emergencies and then were both called up saturday morning to play for them.
Ahmed pulled out with Gastro but then was called up and was pretty much told he MUST play because we had nobody else.

so already thats 5 changes b4 the match started,

that left us to promote 3 U/18s players into the Seniors! One player was tucking into a meat pie and a coke half way through the 2nd quarter of the ressies and he was approached and asked if he was able to go again in the seniors playing off then bench,

He soon found out that he would be playing the whole match because 1 player did a hammy 1st quarter, 1 the 2nd quarter, full back did his knee after a marking contest and quinn landed on him.
Bloke who had gastro couldnt get off the ****ter after half time.
another did his ribs after being sandwiched between 2 players.
and the 3 U18 players couldnt physically go another quarter as much as they wanted to.

the last 7-8 minutes we were 2 short.

13 of us ran back onto the ground doing run throughs and stretches, but when the umpire saw a lack of us out there he called a head count and and said we were not aloud to continue.

Spoke to pillios a fair bit sat night because he was our MC for our footy ball and he was on my table, and the league rang him and asked him to find out any information he could about saturday.

And as he found out, all the injureis were genuine because 10 of us looked disabled hobbling around on 1 leg!

EK wouldnt throw a match like that! theres too much at stake! We were only 5 goals down at half time and we hit the post twice!

and how quickly all you strathmore fans forget that Strathmore Vs KP 3 qtr time 2 years ago you all walked off the ground because you were too cold and you were down by 15 goals!!??

but at 17 years old i think is a VERY big ask to play a full game of 18s and then cool down and then try and get back up to play seniors

Mate the opposition doesnt matter.
I am not a great footballer and I managed to play the 2 games and the club was not in dire need.
Mate the club needed them to play the half and they didnt so either the kids are weak where it counts or the club has no spirit.

Totally agree HBG, I hope the EDFL are going to make an example of this, you just cannot pick and choose when you want to play footy in my opinion!
People have worked long and hard to get the league where it is at the present time, coming from an A grade club what a disgrace and insult to the rest of the league.
Mr Price is not happy man l can tell you men, it will be fully investigated by the league and a huge fine(2,000 - 5,000) may a occur which will have to be paid in full by 6.00pm friday night for Saturday's game to go ahead!

To infer that what you did on Saturday is comparable to what happened at Keilor Park two or three seasons ago is an absolute f**king joke!

First of all, before you start mouthing off, get your facts straight first.

Strathmore did not walk off the ground for starters, it didn't happen at three quarter time and we weren't down by 15 goals. The Mores were a chance to make the finals that year, not sitting winless on the bottom of the ladder and fighting for relegation. How many players did Keilor Park have showered and changed before half time that day?

Its more than coincidence that you are playing Keilor Park next week, and percentage might play a big part in deciding whether you go down to B Grade or not. By forfeiting I believe your percentage will remain the same, while KP suffered a big loss to Keilor on Saturday. You had 18 in our forward line at the end of the first half, then 13 players come out after time.

You can rant and rave about injuries as much as you want, of course your club is going to put a spin on what happened. People are smart enough to make up their own minds to what happened on the weekend.

WC still can't play four quarters of footy, both the boys up forward are having a great season, l just hope they dont let there personal goals get in the way the team!
Blokes love the banter down at WC, but come finals time talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words in my opinion.

mate you wouldnt know what its like to have 10 senior and reserve players at training on a tuesday night! and 20 U/18 players that makes training look respectible! NOT ONE GAME this year have we had an unchanged line up b4 the game! these things happen! 3 years ago i was playing in a senior final at the age of 17 mouthing off to my mate who plays ay doutta stars because they were fighting relegation 3 years ago and now the tables have turned. it just a cycle that happens from time to time. EK will rebound from this and no doubt be up there with the best in years to come.

No one cares, the reasons for not taking the field on Saturday are bulls hit bottom line. EK have lost some quality players over the last 3 to 4 years(A B&F winner,leading goal kicker just to name a couple) why?
These players are not leaving for money thats for sure, it just may be the coach!
As for fine, lets just wait and see son!
So klacks with all the injuries EK have, there should be a number of changes(8) for this week?
Either way EK will be in B grade next year, case closed!
