Here is a few I have heard from a couple of people.

Turner from Abers to Westmeadows, Saad Saad to Greenvale, Matty Robbins to Greenvale, Brad Murphy-Willoughby-Downey to Roxburgh Park, Turner from Douttas to Westmeadows, James Condos to the GVFL or O&M.

Could be a crock but just a few rumblings, all quality footballers.

APW 34# who won the APW b & f what was the top 5 ?

I do know that McBride and McAllister finished 1 & 2 with McBride winning by one vote, McBride polled a 5 in the last game where McAllister polled a 4 which got him over the line.

As for who finished 3th - 5rd....I'm pretty sure Ange Gentile finished top 5 but I'll have to get back to you.

Am I going out on a limb thinking this is Marby...

Any footy trip stories worth announcing yet???

What goes on the Footy trip, stays on the Footy Trip

How did Dalton's season end up with Marby Park???

In the 2's

Finshed in the Ressies, be very interesting to see what he does in 2008. Maybe back to Glenroy???

Word is Dalton will probably be going back to Mt Pleasant in the Country, only talk so nothing formal yet.

Just spoke to A. Turner and don't we all love rumours. Will be at Abers next year.

Liam Turner has signed at Douttas for 2008 i'm pretty sure. Slammin or General can you confirm.

Just spoke to the big man in bloomfield and he has signed at GV for 08 so its another good start for the premiers i guess

L. Turner has signed...Saad is merely a formality at Greenvale...once he's signed on the bottom line...the bells should start a ringing at all clubs in the "A" grade.....PLAY THE KIDS....if its the last year of the Dollar, and the points system is coming in next year, hand em the cup, back to back.....and PLAY THE KIDS!!!!!

What is the go with the new proposed points system?
I'm pretty sure players are rated eg ex afl 5 pts vfl 4 points home grown players 1 pt etc anyway each week every team wiil have a max amount of points say 50 points so if you had 5 ex afl (5x5pt= 25) that means you have 16 players to make a total of 25 points. If a club goes over 50 points l assume they will forfeit the points if they happen to win the game.

The above is just an example so dont hold me to it just trying to explain l think i've confused myself :)

I take your point but he has always been at Greenvale as a registered player so its not a signing as such. More he has quit Port after giving it his all. Good on him. He is always hanging around the club and training. Exactly the same situation as Gazzo who can play at Greenvale anytime next year if Coburg want him too. (which will be never if he plays like he did this year. Had an outstanding year)

Any chance that Greenvale will get former hawthorn player and current Port Melbourne captain Chris Obst a very good friend of Anthony Aloi so connection is all ready there. Would be a good signing

Is it 100% going ahead?
Greenvale would be over surely.. wouldn't they?

As far as l know it will be brought in for the 2009 season.

What a joke this is if it comes in. The EDFL finally gets itself to be regarded as one of the premier comps in Victoria then it shoots its self in the head.

Clubs who think this will work haven't really thought it through. Clubs will still have money. It will just inflate the prices players already get. Clubs will just spend more money buying the cream players. If you can't afford them now you won't be able to afford them in the future???? Its not going to suddenly offer up cheap AFL/VFL players. Other leagues will love it. The majority of good clubs like Strathmore, Greenvale, Keilor, Abers, Doutta's, Oak Park already have the strongest juniors so what difference will it make to EDFL A-grade apart from a few spots year to year. All those clubs have won or played off in multiple grand finals in the last decade. I don't see one club dominating??? I think some B Grade clubs forget that the basis of the strong A grade clubs are the last 10 players who are gun juniors from that home club. For all the flack they cop Strathmore have this, Greenvale have this, Doutta's have this, Aber's have this and Keilor certainly have this.

If anything this may make the gap even wider. Will Avondale and Marby have 10-12 locals to keep them at the great standard they currently are?

It will do nothing but drive the standard of the league down and the EDFL will be back where it was 10 years ago as a sub standard league.

It won't be the great white hope many people think if it does come in.

It is a pathetic concept, the exact same points system is in place in Mornington and I can tell you that it causes more headaches than its worth. I know that we played with 1 less on the bench to beat the points system in some games and in a match against Sorrento we had 1 bloke do his knee in the first 10 minutes and another bloke get knocked clean out, we played the best mob in the league with 17 players and got flogged.

The points system is really all about evening out the competition but what it will do is force 30-40% of the better players to neighbouring leagues like the NFL and WRFL, those leagues will become stronger and the EDFL will consequently drop in standard.

They tried to bring the points system into the GV a few years back and I think only 1 club opposed it and that was Kyabram, the points system was something that was rejected massively by clubs, supporters, officials and the community. Sponsors and fans love heading to the local footy and seeing an ex AFL footballers running around and that is something the GV are very good at providing and I guess in the end they didnt want to lose.

jett and tige,

you both make valid points, however over the past one club has dominated the competition. The one with most money.
At the moment there is little or no interest in the home and away season.Granted the finals series, have been close high standard games. However we need some interest in the regular season.
If we want a lop-sided competiton where the majority of the clubs have little or no chance of making finals ( playing field is not level ) then by all means lets continue on the same way.

Regardless of who spends the money and wins the premiership, we have and will have a less than interesting home and away season as the system stands.

If everyone is content with uneven competitions, maybe the money clubs could form their own break away competition.

I know Football Victoria are looking at reshaping the whole system in Metro Victoria, in the next 12-24 months their may be no more EDFL or WRFL as their are clubs like Melton-Sunbury-Keilor-St Albans-Greenvale who are not really in any district they are caught between here and there if you understand. St.Albans could very well be in the EDFL or Melton could be in the WRFL instead on the Ballarat league or is Greenvale really closer Keilor or Doutta stars than Sunbury??? so a zoning system may come in. I know that this has been discussed in length at Football Victoria so dont be surprised if things change in the next couple of years, in saying that it all may stay the same but you have to admit sh it is really everywhere with clubs in different leagues and so forth.

My point is it may make it even more uneven and it will. The top 4 would get even stronger under this rule.I think it is wrong to say there is no interest in the home and away this year. B grade will be fantastic this year and so will A grade.

Ahhhhh....whos on first whats on second

i hear the one and only mr bernard drebbing has signed as playing coach of north coburg saints.

He's gunna get a bit of a shock when he rocks up at Hosken reserve considering North Coburg don't play there anymore. They merged with Fawkner Park Blues and are now the Northern Saints playing out of Fawkner in facilities said to be the best in the EDFL(b grade) btw.

The Northern Saints have NOT appointed a Coach yet, I can confirm that!

The facilities are not the best in EDFL B Grade.
Airport West, Moonee Vally and Roxbrough Park all have better facilities.
