Didn’t play interleague but serious athlete, should go well with some good coaches

Have a feeling the standard will drop in 2026. Will not be unique to edfl. All football competitions throughout Metro & Regional Victoria standards and interest are at threat for the following reasons
1. AFL obsession with Coates League & VFL Pathways.
2. Uptake in Park Run participation
3. Big Build drain on players who can make more holding a sign than any payment playing football
4. Volunteers retiring and dying. Young people rarely volunteer at football clubs
5. Female pressure on their football playing partner to spend more 'quality time' with them because they are not interested in football because it is not their 'thing'.
6. Talented young players 'retiring' when not drafted because they think they are too good to play seconds and or don't want to find out that they are not really very good despite thinking they were.

Enjoy your footy folks because it will not exist in its present form within 10 years.

Yes they signed mid year this year but couldnt get out of Castlemaine, new jobs included in signings

How did they go at Castlemaine?. The maine won 3 games in 2025 so either they didn't play much or didn't have too much impact or they starred but the balance of the team were average?

Two quality young men from quality stock who I’ve watched grow up and at times got to hang with a little bit in footy.

I’m not sure if the transfer mid year was totally correct as I believe they were never intending to leave Castlemaine in 2025 but now the boys can bite down on 2026 and their next chapters in football.

Marby have definitely got themselves two good ones here.

Clearances were lodged yes but I wasn’t sure if it was Marby doing so and not the actual boys requesting.

Means bugger all now either way as everyone looks towards 2026
