When you’re doing player payments/contracts tho you do go over the cap, but you expect some injuries here and there, VFL players not to play every game ect so it is easy to go over if every one is healthy plus VFL players play 15 games at your club instead of the 5-6 you expected. If you’re paying a VFL listed player $600 a game and they play 5 games the $3k but if they end up play 15 games that’s $9k so there is $6k you didn’t expect just like that!
And the player he replaced was on zero $$ I assume hence the VFL players costs. Haha absolute BS excuse and only an idiot would believe it.

Hey guys, just come down from the bush looking for a club to play for, needs to have a country town feel, happy for backdoor brown bags, job, sign on, wife needs a car and new kitchen, prefer to have senior coach with VFL/AFL experience or can sign on for flat $46k fee, could anyone point me in the right direction....many thanks in advance! PS. Need to also play in Premierships every year!

If you’re happy enough to not play finals then Deer Park would be your best bet

Why didn't they keep the winning formula going? Instead of bringing in a guy on 800 a game, did mick feel sorry for the guys he dropped for the vfl guys, like he says for how, he feels for he's clubs volunteers

Regardless as to whether committee/football ops is made up of volunteers or paid officer bearers they are accountable for the appropriate governance within the club. Basic use of a weekly spreadsheet or simple math and due process would have avoided this fiasco, which they have failed to do so. Club released statement that the club will not be making any further public comment on the matter, only to have a 2 page spread the next day, which is full of rhetoric, nonsense and woe is us! Most other sporting organisations apart from AFL would not be afforded the opportunity to beat their own drum, amazing what strings you can pull when you are a paid employee of the media outlet. If some within are now suffering from mental health issues the only people to blame for this are the administrators of the club. Will be interesting to see if Club President tempers his over the fence sledging this season and whether he can handle what comes back at him.
Bring on the footy!

Don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house every club at some time is guilty and that is fact.
KFNC are a great club just move on they will be premiers in 2025
Is it really?
Don't ridicule the murderer because one day you might do the same, is the line of reasoning here & I can't say that I agree with it.
Frankly, I'd be as annoyed as anybody if my club were to do the same. As a Blues & Storm fan, it's been rough as is.. hah

People invest significant time & money into their clubs & the club that has been held up as the Gold Standard in the district has been winking at the rules. How often have we heard someone say, "don't complain, just be better" in reference to clubs like Keilor?
In this instance, some of the "better" is engaging in pretty dodgy shit so it was always going to draw a response.

The only clubs i see complain about the salary cap are the ones that go to extreme lengths to go over. Keilor are now complaining, Balwyn are complaining, who do they want to play against? And do they just want to spend a ton to win? How's that fun and enjoyable, at least the salary in place curtails spending, and creates a playing field where most clubs can compete.

Absolutely nailed it.

The only clubs across the board that whinge about the salary cap are those few that want to pay huge $ because they have it.

Because they don’t want to compete against everybody, they only want to compete against a select few who can also afford it. Much easier that way.

The majority of clubs just don’t have the money. If you think these big $ exist across the board for local footy and it’s just a case of clubs “doing it better” you are clueless. Go find you regular local club, jump on the committee and start “doing it better”. That’s not how it works.

With very, very, very few exceptions, these clubs are run by volunteers with very little time. Raising money is bloody hard and those clubs that do are lucky to have connected people in place. Those people walk through the door by pure luck.

And it’s not sustainable - because volunteers are turned over.

Of course the salary cap can be cheated but across the board, it has 1000% been effective in bringing salaries down and lightening the load on volunteers to raise ridiculous money just to stop their own players being taken by vultures. We have now also have had premierships stripped for cheating it in two of the best leagues in the state, O&M and EDFL. It’s real and clubs who cheat it are running a hell of a risk because secrets are hard to keep anywhere, let alone in bloody local football.

The stain on those club’s reputations is real, permanent and deserved.

It ain’t perfect and never will be… but it is having a positive impact.

Well said.

East keilor denying more and more clearances. Dennis’ latest one still pending.. let’s see hey..
East Keilor won’t even be able to register a full team. Don’t be surprised if they get relegated by default based on lack of registrations. Can’t have a premier team with no reserves.

Can’t see them Holding Matty, his contract would of been dependant on the changes ahead as he wants to win. Probably holding out for a cash offer from PV. If not assuming will end up at tribunal.

There's been crickets so far from the other clubs...... pretty telling.

Micks built up a ton of respect from both friend and foe over the years, begrudging or not you cant deny the work and results he has achieved for that footy club and during his own career.

Watching him erode it, with nonsense articles like this playing the victim and shouldering no blame, is both sad and embarrassing. The pies fan in me weeps.
He sounds like my ex wife .....

Poor me poor me poor me ....

Winners are grinners .....

Go the Lions we are alive in 25 ....

By the way the club “ increased “ the junior fees for 2024

500 kids x 460 is a lot of revenue of a club spending 100k on its biggest expense player payments

Should have a very profitable 25 and surprised only 45k over on 23 and more surprises 620 dollars over in 22 with such a larger revenue stream without other revenue

If you are as reputable as you say at KDC

#do the sums AND advise where is the money
I don’t mind your posts but seriously you are way off the mark here.

Junior fees simply don’t pay for senior players salaries. I know as a matter of fact.

If your sponsors are not covering senior player payments you’re probably fighting to land in the black.

This whole notion that junior fees are funding a senior player list is absolute BS. And BTW I’m nowhere near Keilor and wouldn’t want to be either but get off the junior fees bus. It’s not where the money comes from

Well shouldn't all junior fees be the same across the state, why are keilors double that of kids in Geelong?

Cap junior fees ..break even for a junior team is max 4K per year

Divide that into 25 kids

Big clubs in EDFL are a disgrace charging families what they do

How about head office do something constructive and adopt this strategy !
