Keilor went down in a close one to Heidelberg.
Douttas by about 5-6 goals over Hoppers Crossing.
Marby lost by less than a kick to Wang Rovers.
APW beaten comfortably by Banyule.
East Keilor flogged by Geelong West.

Any other results filtered through ?
Mooroolbark by 71 points over Deer Park.

12 goal loss to a Division 1 EFNL
Guessing Deer Park were missing a heap and Mooroolbark had a full list
No idea. No little about Deer Park and nothing about Mooroolbark. Can tell you that neither of the McKenzie brothers played, and Smart and Quick didn’t play. No idea who else didn’t play.

DP had 5 from the under18’s play they were cooked at 3/4 time. Very average game.

Word on the street is EK reserves have merged with Essendon supers to be able to field a team this season

no not happening Ess supers are just using the venue thus they are around the EK HQ

Spoke to a current Essendon Supers player today and he said there is absolutely NO CHANCE of any one of them playing for EK Reserves this year. Take that to the Bank.
Can’t blame EK for trying, it sounds like numbers are dire, but I’d imagine the Supers have enough trouble just trying to back up every second week let alone play some 2’s footy as well.

True sign of a great coach is leaving a club in better shape than when you arrived, Pat torched the joint on his way out

Numbers are dying off everywhere. There will be plenty of mergers especially at Magoos level in the future.

Just wait. Clubs will have to merge in the end as numbers of participants decrease. Clubs in the EDFL are battling the same thing every sport is, but in an area in a 7 km radius. With a bigger ethnic dilution amongst the recruitment area, we don’t see the Asian or sub continental kids playing footy. Gets in the way of school work. Add the computer game factor…it’s a struggle to win the hearts and minds. when the money stops and they need to relay on kids coming thru. It’s tough to see but Clubs will have to merge especially at 2nds level unless something seriously changes in society.

21 thirds teams spread over 3 divisions. Wrong to have a club in premier division that will struggle to field a reserves team.

If people can’t see the opportunity to win getting them to play is extremely difficult. With only 7 teams in each division of the thirds it’s an easier sell than what EK can offer in prem reserves.
