Im guessing you wouldnt put Carland, Suarez and Schiavello in that category? all three who had previously played for the club for 10 years?
I'd rather not get into naming individuals but the above people all left on good terms and had good reasons for leaving and will hopefully be back one day. If you can name me a local list who hasn't had any turnover from last year then you're a bigger genius than I thought.
Had a look at Abers v Avondale Heights yesterday. Good tough game in wet conditions, both teams had a cracck in front of a good crowd considering the weather. Looked as though Aber were a little too polished for Avondale. Just have to say also there were plenty of places to get a drink and some food. Straight after the game the band fired up in the clubrooms which I though was a great idea. Well done Avondale on organising a good day. My club is hoping to host a 1 off game next year and we certainly took some idea's away from yesterday.

Nick O'Kearney is a gun and is winning plenty of the football in the Premier Division, whilst James Barnes held his own against undoubtedly one of the best ruckman in Barry Brooks.
Any idea how long McGuane intends to play O'Kearney and Barnes in the seniors for?
Does Nick double up for under 16's on the SUnday?

Understand that the so called "brawl" actually involved a few smart a*ses unknown to Aber's people who felt the need to carry on in the club rooms during the presentations and started a couple of push and shove matches with some current players that escalated a bit before being broken up.
The club can hardly be held responsible for everyone who walks through its doors for a beer post match although early season form suggests we should have less of this sort trouble next year when our neighbors up the road and their supporters are no longer scheduled to visit.

James would have been handy back at EDS. Pity he moved on. Nick hasn't been amongst the 16s best for the opening two games which is extremely rare, so I'm thinking it's safe to assume he isn't playing yet, although his name is on the team sheet.

I never said that, I said I understand no one knows who they were, I was just having a cheeky pop at our rivals Douttas at the end there given we beat thrm on said day. You are the one on here inferring the brawl was a sign of trouble at the club mate, stop trying to stir up rubbish.
Cheap shot I would say, long way to go in the season. Yes you have won 2 from 3 and good on you, but given your alleged 350-400 k spend from what I saw Saturday money not well spent. Still only 1 flag on the wall might still be the case come 2013, you can only dream to have 18 on the wall!!!!

Geez can't even have a little crow on here after you beat your arch rivals with getting a full spray. Actually hope Douttas stay up not just for the rivalry but also for the likes of Marcus Barham who was great when at Abers and some great blokes down there.
Don't worry about Abers this year, not going to hard to early like last year and plenty to come into the side. Unfortunately you have to spend the big dollars these days to have a crack at a flag, no choice.

You are right mate , unfortunately spending money on recruits must happen , maybe Maribyrnong a few years back were ahead of their time as far as recruiting , they won 3 flags!.

The big money was being spent before Marby came along, arguably they just spent their money more wisely? Marby still have a fair few to come back and Oak Park are going to be very strong so it'll be a very interesting season. Pacco and Keilor will cause plenty of headaches as well

Money has been a part of footy for a while, it just comes down to who has it and who spends it correctly. Though of course if you can develop a good environment to play in people will generally play for a little less.

Brilliant win by Strathmore over a very good Marby. Mores down by 31 points at 3/4 time and won by 31 points.

I watched about 3/4ers of the Craigieburn v Pascoe Vale game which PV won pretty easily. Craigieburn have a pretty young side. They play EDS next week in a vital game and given the results so far, you'd think Doutta's should get up.
Same game.
The only thing I'll say for Craigieburn is they ran the game out and broke over even with Pascoe Vale in the last half. The Damage was done but if they run games out they might be able to beat fellow stragglers.

Yea, fair call there.
It will be an interesting little scrap. I haven't seen Avondale play and Doutta's were ok against Pacco, but they must have played well to get close to Oak Park.
Injuries could well play a big part and percentages may well play there part too.
