As usual the amount of NEW 2014 AW players has been grosley over stated. All clubs have player losses ($ Departures, Work commitments, Retirements & Player general movement) from season to season and lists need to be ammended to suit the type of player losses and game plans set by coaches. AW i have been told have topped up approx 6 players and lossed 3 so thats a gain of 3 not a mass arrival. AW were competive in 2013 and clearly not up with Abers Or Greenvale standard.
The situation you mentioned as home growns are not getting a game is a factor in playing in Prem Div as the bar has been raised many years ago to have a team on the park that is greater than the juniors that each club can produce. We would all love to see all homegrowns in all sides however this is not possible with the standard of the compitition as it currentty stands hence the buy in of outside players. Remember that clubs are only buying outside players to remain competitive in respestive grades. Clubs as bottom dwellers do not attract the junior players at grass root level (Auskick & U10s) as todays attitude of kids & parents only want to accociate with sussuesful clubs and will drive past 1 club to go on a waiting list with another so there is a reason to import players other than WINNING P/SHIPS.
Simply the EDFL rules of NO RESTRICTION regarding budgets or DRAFT or Zonning of juniors so iti s a open system dictates the the FREE AGENT policy and until this changes then the above will be case.
(FYI The EDFL is not the only unrestrected league in Victoria so dont think I am having a shot at them)[

Is it true that Avondale heights might not have money this season. I heard they were involved in the Bill Vlahos punters club. Can anyone give more info?

The president of Avondale Heights has denied his club involvement in the Bill Vlahos punters club on the Herald Sun website this afternoon.

However if true and Avondale are involved then good luck getting their cash back.

As sorry as you feel for people ripped off and fleeced... your intellect has to be questioned if you had placed large amounts of money in a shady betting syndicate. The stories getting around are staggering and just goes to show how greed can blind people. How many local punters clubs have been infected by a person with light fingers... and usually just a couple of grand. People here have dumped life savings into it. Madness

Mick Dundee, Are you in the know about club involvement in Racing BC3? I think the paper said club wasn't. You are either in the know or spreading bad rumours. Which one is it?

They aren't going to publicly state that the club is involved. I think some of avondales money might have been tied up in the punters club. Other wise why would it make front page

Rumours aplenty about Avondale and the punters club but the word is although some Avondale people may have some lost money, they weren't the ones sponsoring the club so doubt any players will leave due to not receiving any promised match payments.

On another footy matter, noticed our inter league rivals have their squad listed. Any idea when edfl and or Bicer will list our squad? Anyone like to list some certainties? I'll open the batting: rose, gallea, Boyd, Browne, young, tiller, patak, potter, smith, Kenny, Caruso (x2), kuret, lee, German. Just to name few.

So players have to decide play for your club in a practice match or play for the EDFL side.
