Would be good if it ends up like VCFL with rankings, where as EFL might be ranked 1, VAFA ranked 2, EDFL 3, NFL 4 and 1&2 play each other loser drops to rank 3 and the winner of NFL v edfl gets to play rank 1 the following year.

There are some seriously good players who are going to miss out and no one in Div 1 can comfortably say they are better than any of them.

All 6 leagues across the board have the option of picking new players to that league in 2014. WRFL, NFL, SFL, VAFA & EFL will all be doing it. If all leagues are ok with that then it should bring some serious talent in. No doubt AFL scouts will be all over this type of event and see if they can pluck the next Isaac Smith etc

The VAFA will be only selecting players that were registered with the VAFA last year - and I believe the EFL will be doing the same.

In regards to the rankings, that is exactly how it has been proposed to work. The loser out of the VAFA and EFL will drop to 3 and the winner between EDFL and NFL will move to 2 and the loser will drop to 5. Which will be a bit strange as there is no way either the WRFL or the SFL should be ranked higher than any of these leagues.
 
Good to see Patak earn a spot in the squad after a impressive finals serious and consistent year last year.

Interesting to note Matt littles name on the list, surely a handful of games in 2013 doesn't suffice unless he's fully committed to the year at strathmore. Definitely worthy of a spot don't get me wrong.

Interesting to note quite a few names from williamstowns grand final side from few year ago appear in the squad.

Interesting article on the website, looks like Mick has already got his excuses ready. I suppose given that Northern Saints look to be a soft target to go straight back down, it kind of is pointless spending big money if you are not going to be able to compete so Keilor may as well save some coin and then try and have a crack next year.

So Keilor expecting to finish mid table same as 2013.

Not a chance


Have had extremely poor numbers at training. Guys leaving left right and centre very few new players at training pre Xmas sessions. Very concerning for a club in its first year in the top flight

This is just a cop out. This club has been a powerhouse for 20 years and now they are having their turn to be on the decline but don't come out with articles in the press We wont break the bank" Keilor has been one of the highest payers for years. (also one of the best rub clubs) but now they cant get recruits they are pleading financial cautiousness. Give me a spell. if u are worried about coin why would you spend 50k on the coach? and don't tell me he will develop young talent because he has been there 5 years to do that. Me thinks the Blues are making excuses before we even start.

That's fair enough, but it's probably also fair to say a few of those guys needed to move on anyway. Their facebook page indicates some signing news soon so hopefully we'll know more then.

Some quality departures but Keilor being Keilor will still be there a outs. Mick still coaches well and with Browne have the best Ruckman going around. Noticed in the article they have some inclusions and no doubt more will arrive befor round 1.

Most of those leaving simply aren't up to playing Premier Division. It's all about the quality of signings, not the numbers on the track. Might not win many but will make life tough for a few teams and with a bit of luck could stay up.

Leigh Burke will be a quality pickup for Keilor. Starred in the country (ballarat & bendigo) and made the vcfl rep side the past two seasons.

With February almost upon us all the rumours about off season arrivals and departures for all clubs should be confirmed once the clearances start appearing on edfl website.
