If you ever wanted proof as to why the points system is not going to even up any competition look at the values from Aberfeldie v West Coburg last week. Aberfeldie the highest paying team in the competition - 33 points. West Coburg the lowest paying team in the competition 37 points.

I noticed that as well, but I think Abers were 38 and WC 37. I’m a little confused with the points as one of the WC boys is a 6 point. He has come from interstate but never played SANFL seniors, only colts. If an AFL player is worth 6, how is this young kid on the same level?

for now abers and Greenvale are fine because all there players have been there for years. They aren't going to be playing forever so when 3 or 4 guns leave then the 4,5,6,7 point players will effect abers because they will recruit gun footballers.

Greenvale are fine, as despite their recruiting, around half their senior squad is made up of home grown players.. which leaves them in a pretty similar situation to your mob.

Yeah agree about Greenvale things will slowly even out. It does make it difficult for the team coming up and also the team coming down in grades as players tend to leave clubs or club are trying to strengthen there list to compete in the better comps.

check it again...33 points, they did have one guy listed as six points but it was amended to be a one point player. No idea why the WC kid is a 6 point player

Anything to take the focus away from the scoreboard?

Abers to good. Pacco very disapointing I thought. I think Abers won the ruck duels with 2 non ruckman, and were a bit harder at the contest with bigger bodied mids. To many turnovers through the middle hurt Pacco especially in the first half. Abers very skillful by foot especially into the wind. There short kicking was good and very precise.
Umpiring overall was very disapointing especially the umpire with the shaved hair. He was trying to get involved to often and was not consistent. I won't go any further.

Not trying to take the focus away Flipper but it's not a great look for our league when people leaving the ground under the blood rule 150 mts off the ball. It's the same guy who hit an Avondale player last year behind the ball.

Maybe just not the right fit for Premier...

Whats wrong with pacco, shouldnt be their players with all the ex afl guys, get the impression from your posts you are questioning their coaching? Is there s fitness problem. Or they aren't up to the top 3. You sound a bit disappointed with their performances, they haven't improved this yeat?

keilor vs greenvale today was a high quality contest! half way through the last scores level, greenvale kicking with the wind but Keilor found another gear getting out to a 4 goal lead with under 5 minutes to play
Midfield battle was even
Both teams key towards kicked bags
Umpires got to involved was the only downside to the game
All in all great game of football

Great even game all day, ebbed and flowed both ways. As good as you will get. Jetd looked winners in 2nd term and again had all the run early in the last in front to the scoring end but keilor turned it around with Brown in the centre and run over jets. Great even effort from keilor, Galea 6 in segond half probably the reason keilor won

How is Steve Vocale going?, great young man who may be held back by the points associated with with winning a b&f in Div2 trying his luck in Premier.

Not sure how Vocale is going but isn't it a joke this points system. Really evens out the competetion NOT, but just makes the top sides with strong juniors even stronger. At least give clubs a few years to prepare for it.

Is there an open and available budget (Players wages) available somewhere? It might make for interesting viewing.

Hey Watch it all, I'm not going there mate. It doesn't matter how many ex AFL players you have, the fact is Abers work to a lot bigger budget than Pacco so they have more quality in their side than Pacco. The points system doesn't help clubs like Pacco when trying to compete with sides like Abers as Pacco have to play 4-5 1 point players. Hopefully big Deano returns in a few weeks to add some much needed physical presence..

On your other question I think Abers were concerned about today's game as played an extra defender in there backline and Pacco probably should have pushed someone forward. I don't think Abers play an exciting brand of footy but they got the victory pretty easy really. It was all over 1/2 way through the 2nd quarter. They needed to move the ball quicker to expose Abers lack of height down back, but continually went sideways. Pacco need to find some small/mid forwards who kick goals.

Keilor now clear favourites.. Good on them. Spending some extra coin this year on getting Galea, Cartelli etc has really helped them improve. They do seem to have good depth but would be interesting to see how they handle things if Galea or Brown got injured or if Mick if lost his voice or woke up one Saturday morning and couldn't find his Keilor jacket.. Lol

Keilor seemed to have lashed out and got mick a new jacket so there safe in there lol
brown and galea clearly keilors 2 most important players and they would find it harder without them but I think they still have the fire power to contest if they lost one but not both
Galea has been a 1 man show up foward the last 2 games kicking 10 of his 14 goals in the 3rd quarters when Keilor looked down and out, so I'm interested to see how there foward line will work with gourdis back to full fitness (took a long time to get into the game yesterday) and also mcguane who only played a half against Pascoe vale and not playing yesterday
Them 3 fully fit with bathie, Kennedy and any of there resting midfeilders down forward makes for an extremely difficult day for any backline in local football

Breathe..
Pacco recruited many of their prime movers after the initial discussions regarding the points system had taken place.
The points system was always was going to take some time to make a difference and in time it'll lead to clubs developing and retaining their own, which can only be a good thing.

A top 4 of Keilor, Abers, Gvale and EDS would lead to some great footy come finals time.

Breathe BJ,
Settle down here. Pacco still the 4th best team at present but appear to be 6-7 goals behind the top 3. You would assume they will improve as the season goes on as they gel. Keep in mind Pacco have played all the top 3 sides but they have all been at Paccos ground. Hope they build some momentum going into the back half of the season. I honestly think Pacco better suited to the bigger grounds so hopefully they can beat a Greenvale or Abers on the return game.
EDS are doing very well and good on them, but I don't expect them to get within 5 goals of Pacco.

Wells & Tydell will make a huge difference and expecting Robbins to be back mid season, and that's a huge in for there team balance..
