can anyone from EDS tell me what's going on with Darren Phiffer (sorry about the spelling) hasn't played in 4 weeks. And can they fit him in with the points? Looks like they play at almost 50 every week and he's a 5 pointer

Carrying a calf I think. Hurt it badly against Avondale. Slowly getting back. And in regards to getting in. I think a player of his standard ya just find a way to get him in.

Pacco v Douttas today.
The ground was a bit slippery due to the constant rain. Conditions certainly suited Douttas as Pacco fielded a bigger stronger side. Pacco had some big outs with B Ross, Foster and others missing from the line up.
1st half..
Douttas went in harder early on and were 3-4 goals in front with Pacco pegging them back. Great old fashion man on man contests across the ground with the duel between Jackson/Allan and then Thompson/Veszpremi a highlight. I must say I like the look of Allan who's a bloody good player. Runs hard, strong smaller type mid and has a great kick on him. Uses the ball well..
2nd half..
Really goal for goal footy with Pacco getting in front in the last qrt and looked to be the winner until some poor decision making up forward caused some turn overs and Douttas catching them on the rebound. Still don't understand when you have a dominant forward in Wells, clearly on top of Day, that you wouldn't just kick to him 1 out. He was looking like the match winner but was under used.

Douttas seemed to prefer the conditions and were a bit quicker over the ground. The game was played in great spirits and it was quite entertaining footy in the wet. Full credit to all players and I think only one injury to a Douttas player #22 I think. Maybe a shoulder but not sure. Hope his OK and it's not to seroius.

Pacco dominated the rucking contests but the clearances were about even.

The umpiring was really poor. The bald umpire was seen in to many conversations with a couple of Douttas players especially in the first half, yet when Pacco say anything it's 50mts. Ive tried to keep this this low key. I did see some things that umpires did when really they should be concentrating on the game and being neutral. I thought only the captain can engage the umpires..
How does Lewis get clearly pushed in the back forcing him sliding into the footy and then it's hold in the ball.
Ross marks and takes a step with momentum and gets tackled and its hold on the ball, without the umpire calling play on.
The smaller umpire was good but the taller one and the bald umpire are clearly not up to premier standard.
On the positive side they did have courage to pay a few deliberate out of bounds.

Overall Douttas deserved the win but it was a very close contest. The smaller forward line of Douttas probably suited to the conditions hence there spread of goal kickers.
Douttas very impressive after coming back up to premier, but still believe on a dry ground Pacco win but it is what it is.. Always close games as per 2014 when both games were within a few points..

Now I sit back and wait for all the replies but at least I give a game report. That's more than most of you..
Turbo. Fully respect your game report. The umpires were an absolute disgrace both ways. Personally thought the conditions suited pacco with the bigger bodies around the contests. Douttas do have a lot of young kids that a slight bodied. Massive win for Douttas. Played a brilliant first and last quarter.

Greenvale beat Avondale by a point. Is there much to read into greenvales last three weeks because Avondale have been smacked 3 weeks in a row before yesterday.

They've got a decent number of players out injured atm, they obviously still need to lift though.

yes they have a few out but from what I'm hearing not all the players are happy with the coach saying he has his favorites not treating all players the same. Last weeks best players were a joke, not sure what game the coach was watching, one player named went off in the 2nd 1/4 with concussion didn't come back on named in the best. Shannon Grant had better get on top of this or Greenvale will miss the four

They had 8 missing yesterday.
First I've heard of it but if true all parties will need to sort out their differences to avoid wasting a year.

Great entertaining contest won by the better team on the day. Some questionable umpiring both ways in my opinion but had no bearing on the result.
Pfiefer to return next game, who is the equal if not better than Allan.
Look forward to the next contest on the big ground. Doutta's are far better at home which is the biggest ground in the comp. Hopefully it is dry Turbo, the margin will be greater!

Greenvale by 45 points over Avondale.
Abers by a lot over APW.
Keilor by 19 over Marby, although having already beaten both last years Grand Finalists, Marby must be a chance.
Pacco by 5 points over Douttas, continuing Douttas run of unlucky close losses.
Mores by 9 points over West Coburg.
Arguably best 4 qtr effort from the blues this year. All over massive team effort but the ex-heights trio were great again, Galea first class but Tanner huge Across the Backline. To keep the home team to 3 goals for the game and win by over 100 points was not tipped by anyone. Browne in best ever form.
Strong all over the ground, with maybe another 2 or 3 to come back.
Great Game after the break 1 vs 2 at keilor.

I disagree Gremlin, Pacco are suited to a big ground these days. They prefer the open spaces with there class midfielders. If they can get their forwards 1 out with opposition backs they should kick a winning score. But look it's only our opinions..

Good summary of the game. EDS stood up when required.

Have only seen a few different games this season, no particular team. Never normally comment but umpiring is borderline laughable at all games I have seen.
Turbo I don't think either team benefitted from umpires on the weekend. Both teams could complain.
It seems they have three average umpires doing the games with three totally different interpretations of the rules.
Why are three umpires required? Surly two are enough, it was not that long ago there were only two and before that one.
With less umpires on the ground we will get more consistent decisions from game to game.
It would also mean the talent of umpires isn't spread so thin.

Just to change it up a bit, how many home grown players (1 pointers ) are playing at other clubs in the edfl that would be a walk up start back at the original club?

You'd think Caruso x 2, Joyce, Castello, Leech and Arrowsmith would walk back in to their junior clubs starting 18.

It's a good discussion point. I guess only Leech's junior club is in the same division being premier. On Leech he would be handy in Paccos team as a small nippy forward. Could be the missing link..

Carboni and Solomon would be 1 pointers at Pacco

Almost half way through the season - views on the points system to date?

Teams from last week showed:

31 - Abers (Jackson should be a 1 not a 3)
35 - WC
36 - GV (assume Hemala and Townsend are 1's)
41 - SM
42 - AW (assume Denny is a 1)
43 - Keilor
46 - MP
46 - AH
47 - PV
49 - DS
