Bring the points system in, 83% of clubs want it Victoria wide, this an overwhelming majority of clubs.
There will be no senior or U18 training this week. Players and supporters are encouraged to seek solace with friends and family. On Tuesday evening you are welcome to attend the club's social rooms where we can all find comfort in one another's company. Counselors will be present on the evening to assist those who feel they would like to share their thoughts and be comforted by their experience and understanding. This invitation is also extended to the Avondale Heights football club members, players and spectators as well as their wonderful trainers who assisted our own trainers.
Hey Star, it's been an interesting year thus far as what's happened at Strathmore & Avondale to date. I'm struggling to understand what's happened at Strathmore as to my knowledge they didn't lose many from last year however maybe haven't recruited to top up?

Hey there 'Star' I'm really interested in the reasons as to why you regard the current Strathmore coach as one of the best in the business! It would be fair to say at the moment that he would be regarded by most people in the industry as a 'money coach' as he has predominately only ever coached environments were the club in question would have rated in the top two for that particular season in outgoing total player payments so expectations would be that the club in question plays off in the Grand Final..Thanks Turbo, pretty astute summary from where I sit.
I will add that I expect Keilor to round out the Top 4 ahead of Avondale and Marby
As for Strathmore, I think it is a combination of issues.
It looked on paper that they covered most of their losses however we are talking a pretty big turnover of players - as well as experience - never mind the talent. Off the top of my head they are without Mazzeo & R Little (both 4 time premiership players I think) Douglas, Lyons, T Grima, Heppell and Jones. As well Horne is courageously playing under duress IMO. May be others I missed?
Sikora, Potter, Mitchell & Wilson go a way to covering some losses but perhaps haven’t had the desired effect. Having about 7 ‘regular’ seniors playing in the 2s last week raised a few eyebrows. In my opinion Lyon is the one they miss most as they appear a couple of gun mids short at the moment.
On the positive side, the coach is one of the best in the business and has continued to blood local boys from the 2nds and U18s. He does have a challenge as the Seniors look a tad flat and in a rut! Irrespective, there are good things happening around the club and they will bounce back.
It is good to see Pacco this year and Avondale last year challenging.

I believe this season has been and will be his greatest challenge to date as the club in question that he is coaching definitely doesn't rank amongst the top two in the competition for outgoing total player payments..
Lets see how he performs in these challenging circumstances!..
There definitely does seem to have been a tactical change in the clubs approach this season, maybe it has been forced through necessity, maybe they are preparing for the inevitable points system being in place in the very near future..

Having a look at their side from the weekend, if anything they're probably a bit top heavy. (Tagliabue, Sikora, Winter, Grima, Wilson, Potter and Stapleton)Good observation on Strathmore "Star" and pretty accurate. Agree as Douglas and T Grima were very good for Strathmore. As your stated they did cover most of these but they are probably under performing. I reckon they are still paying out good money as per the other clubs, but as we all know they have a bright future due to their junior program.
They are probably a tall forward short ( to replace T Grima) and some pace through the midfield. I'm guessing they will find a young mid from there juniors but will need to recruit another tall forward next year.
Still dangerous on there day..

Post on local footy faceie interesting
In other EDFL news out of yesterday's game. Greenvale Football Club could be losing their score up until just before 3 quarter when scores were 11.10 to Strathmores 5.5. It proceeded a melee that was sent onto supporters hill with plastic chairs flying with fists. The game was out of control and the umpires somehow red carded one Greenvale player, but in the moments of madness Greenvale replaced this player without any direction from the umpires who continued to let the play ...go. Strathmore called for a headcount which saw the scores wiped. Their only chance of winning the dour affair. The scores were wiped but when the umpires were reminded of the actual rules, the score was reinstated. What proceeded was a spirited performance by the Jets who came out in the final quarter and kicked 6 goals 10 behinds to Strathmore's 1 point which means the final result will be a win to the Jets regardless of the EDFL investigation. The result and the final quarter heroics highlight the 2015 demise of the Strathmore Football Club who at this stage are facing an uphill battle to even make the 4. Let alone defend their premiership.
Wow. That's terrible objective 'reporting'
I can't say I saw any flying chairs BTW, perhaps the author attended the darts that afternoon?

From all reports the fight entered the 200 club hill where plastic chairs were set up. The fight entered the hill where the chairs were and although not involved in the fight it wasn't a good look. I can't remember to many senior grounds without fencing right the way around the ground.
It's looking pretty ugly for the EDFL who need to take a stance. Any news or updates from the EDFL on the matter?

I agree the area around the creek side should be roped off. I also don't think the chairs in that area are a good idea. Maybe best to stand or build a small seating area there. From memory the seats are mainly for the elderly and/or ladies to sit. It's a good area for Strathmore supporters and creates a bit of atmosphere so just need to fix it up a bit. The problem is there is not a lot of room around Strathmore's ground as it's very tight.. Not the best viewing area from the rooms or in front of the rooms, hence why they probably go to the hill..
Interesting to see what they come up with or what the league has to say as ultimately the safety of players and spectators is paramount. The EDFL cannot afford any bad publicity..
Turbo , you seem to have a lot of suggestions - Build new rooms , new scoreboard, build a new seating area, get new recruits, rope off the area(do you think that's safe?)... You sound like one of those tools who likes to shoot his mouth off but is never prepared to actually do anything himself.I agree the area around the creek side should be roped off. Strathmore have set up those seats in the same area for 4-5 years now without any issues, the fight was on the ground and spilt over into that area, all the supporters moved away quickly to ensure they were not involved. So your bright idea is to spend $20k-$40k and countless hours of volunteer people's time to build a seating area? Is that going to fix everything, is it? No doubt you will have an opinion on the next thing that comes up whatever that is and have a master plan to fix it!
And if you want my opinion - Fine both clubs for bringing the game into disrepute by engaging in a melee!!!
I have a suggestion for you Bangfrom-wherever .....cut out these personal attacks on one of the better contributors to bigfooty that we've had for quite a while... Keyboard heroes such as yourself would be better off spending some time helping out at your own club ... If you still have one ..... I'm sure your tune would change if you met face to face....... Keep up the good work Turbo!!Turbo , you seem to have a lot of suggestions - Build new rooms , new scoreboard, build a new seating area, get new recruits, rope off the area(do you think that's safe?)... I think that is the biggest issue with modern day clubs, they spend their money in the pursuit of premierships rather than sustainable infrastructure that could ultimately deliver sustained off field success. The safety of kids in surrounding areas is in question, yet you raise the query over $20-40k? that is one or two less players for one season. I would love to see a club draw a line in the sand and build infrastructure that will last a lot longer than the new $40k recruit.
I would love to see the EDFL create a rule in regards to standard of facilities. Marby bought 2-3 flags and have nothing to show for it. Strathmore have won 4 flags and have the worst away change rooms in the league. Do not get me started on Aberfeldie. I understand it has alot to do with council funding, but when clubs spend the way they do upwards of $300k recklessly and have nothing to show for it; it speaks volumes about the club.
