Pretty tough to value the proper tall defenders who aren’t Dean and Thredgold. One club could really like him and take him in the National but I don’t see him getting drafted.
Thanks. The Lions need another tall defender to develop but perhaps they'll wait for next year.

Appreciate the effort. From a North perspective I hope to see more developing talls on our list. It is something that has been ignored for far too long.

Hi eDPS , do you reckon Matt LeRay could make a good shutdown defender? Brisbane need a Starcevich replacement, and while LeRay isn't as quick as Starcevich, his aerial strength seems like a real asset for that kind of role.
I think he has the ability to do it although when Starcevich was coming through the draft I would never have imagined he would find his role as a shut down defender

Bryce Sanders goes alright, late to the SANFL pathways, only coming into North Adelaide's U18's squad this season, athletically sound, good overhead, the right size and you would think a lot of growth game wise to come so ticks the upside box. Later/rookie I think he's worth a shot, also looked good forward early before switching to defence.

And that the wildcard….the competitiveness of the player. How willing they are to adapt to play a role. Did anyone thing Starcevitch would become the player he would become? Comes down to the player and player development!

I’ve done a Victorian rankings for the 2026 draft, hoped to re-watch the GF Futures game to get a more well rounded view but the AFL app sucks for videos so it wasn’t happening so yeah going to stick to the Victorians here. I imagine a lot of players will come from the clouds next year with more opportunity.
