Absolutely agree. From a personal perspective I am just really glad that the crows have 2 1st round picks and carltons 2nd rounder which could come in around pick 20 this year as that means at the least 3 very good players will be drafted. Lots of noise on our boards whether Sloane stays or goes but if he goes then it should either net another 1st round compo pick or a trade that will net something in the first round so all in all, this draft (along with Fogarty from last year who I think has almost unlimited potential and already has a bit of a cult following with our supporters) could help keep the crows going in the upper parts of the league for some time to come
The crows fans still love Fogarty? When will they work out he cannot run through the midfield and is only really a 15 possession max forward, that is best suited as a defender?

You might want to check 2016’s early season top 10 compared to the actual draft.

Spot on.

Players come seemingly “from nowhere” - but either AFL recruiters have quietly had their eyes on them for years, or (more likely) there’s been significant development by the player in their draft year to “rocket” them into top 10 consideration.

Read the context and what I am responding to and previous posts.

If what you’re saying is that the top 10 come late November on these boards doesn’t tend to have a lot of variance - I agree.

It was a bit confusing when read in isolation.

May be short of memory but I don't reckon I saw as many bolters into draft positions like I saw last year.

Andrew Brayshaw, Charlie Ballard, Brayden Ainsworth, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Paddy Dow, Nick Coffield, Aaron Naughton, Ed Richards, Matthew Ling, Zac Bailey, Will Powell, Ben Paton, Nathan Murphy, Angus Schumacher, Will Walker, Tristan Xerri, Ryley Stoddart, Dylan Moore, Jackson Ross, Adam Cerra, Hugh Dixon, Sam Switkowski, Gryan Miers, Callum Porter, Harrison Petty and Oskar Baker were all names I hadn't heard of until midway through last year and later or, in the case of Dixon and Zerk-Thatcher, the U18's.

Last year I don’t believe anyone had Brayshaw in the top 5 until Fagan mentioned him in an interview at the draft combine. And even then most draft watchers were slow to move him up draft boards.

Ah-em.... LemmingMaster
and myself had him top 5 in mid September, but others were slow to catch on. :D

Might be worth waiting to see if he still deserves that high selection. I prefer to try and rank my list where I personally rate them, not so much where clubs rate players.

Cerra was still probably my bandwagon last season. It will be interesting to see who will surprise me this year.

I think the King, Rankine, Walsh, Luko, Hill... Will be the obvious ones, just wondering which names will shoot up the rankings.

I am currently on Bailey Williams, but I am free to jump off any minute I want.

What..the kid has had 1 preseason and has played like 3 games. He has done well to adapt so far and he will be a fantastic player over a long period of time for the crows..He shows more in his 3 games than most of your 1st round picks ever do

Which part of my statement do you disagree with?

He can play midfield?
He is a forward?
He will average more than 15 possessions at AFL level?
Or he is best suited as a defender?

Who said he could play midfield..you did but based on what?. He is a forward and was drafted as such. Yes he can play forward and is developing nicely after ONE preseason under his belt. He might average more that 15 possessions..do you know for a fact he won't? and as for being best suited as a defender..he might be a great forward and also be a guy that can go back and play a role there as well. He is very physical and has a big body for an 18 year old and after 2-3 preseasons under his belt will have developed a better fitness base so we believe he will become the player to take a key post up forward. Luckily for the crows, they have options and Fogarty will be allowed time to develop properly..so you could say I disagree with your absoluteness of every statement you made

Cool, it will be interesting to watch long term.

If DPS has Bytel around 5 to 6 and you don't have him in your top 10, where do you have him? Yet DPS likes your top 10, I am confused. Which isn't out of the normal
Boys it is early May.
I just think Bytel is slightly shaded by Hately and Rozee at the moment.
Before I listed my top 10 I did note it was on talent.
I just think JL and Rankine are clearly the two best players in the draft.
I think quite rightly DPS is slightly Vic centric at the moment however the nationals may change that or the Metro boys may just run riot.
I watched private school footy yesterday and there is a vic country kid who can do it all who I think on talent I may have undersold a little.

Why the suspense? just name the kid and give a good spiel about him.
