I would be astounded if Sam Sturt slips to 29.
Was hard to find the right club for him, a few clubs in the 20s I didn’t think needed his type

And here we go, the post trade mock draft

Could you see Ely Smith being selected in the 1st round? With his size, production and now athleticism being right up there in this draft class I'm trying to understand why most draft watchers have him being picked outside the top 30?

Athleticism mostly comes from his leap tests, I think he tested ok for speed and average for agility. I think the difference between someone like him and Stocker is an ability to hit the scoreboard and in skill level Smith is just a touch below the top 20. I could see Richmond having a hard look at their first but they already have a similar type in Graham, Duursma I believe is best available and he has some genuine flexibility.

He tested top 10 for agility but I see your point. I definitely would love Durrsma a the Tiges so no complaints there.

Gee he did too, must have missed his name

I’ll run nude up Bay St Brighton if Ben King falls to pick #11

Hedge fund. Are you still hearing SOS wants Bailey Smith and Ben King over Sam Walsh? Seems very possible now with Gold Coast's picks...

I’m not hearing it myself, but it makes complete sense to me based on my knowledge of the relationships in play there.

I doubt GC will cough up 2 and 3 to get 1 though. Maybe 2 or 3 and 6, so they still keep 2 or 3.

Can Bailey run anywhere near as well as Sam? If so then he is probably a good option for us.

What do you mean by relationships?

Not a bad effort.

The only hitch may be that Saints take Rankine at 4 without bidding for Blakey. The ITKs on the Saints board believe that if Rankine is available we will grab him. I hope they’re right.

Max King is probably our next choice if Gold Coast draft Rankine.

Ely Smith seems to be a great prospect. Only recently garnered much attention.

His talent and upside is still high regardless, he hasnt gotten any slower or any poorer with his skills. Output isn't high but he will be one of those players that doesn't need over 20 touches a game to have an impact. He has battled injury this year aswell which doesnt help.

Reported Hill did not interview very well for non WA clubs.

Freo at 14 is about right but they need mids.

Eagles have Cameron as an academy prospect and is very similar type.

Interesting where he goes.

You wish they were a similar type.
They're both short and aboriginal but otherwise theyre rather different footballers.

Both are good over head. Can play small forward roles straight away, good defensively, can kick a goal and with some development play midfield minutes.

Both are not terribly tall nor big bodied but are quick.

They are more alike than significantly different.

We arent comparing Cyril with say Fyfe are we?

While Ian will most likely start as a small forward his scope is far greater than Cameron's. Hill will undoubtedly end up a midfield, his skills far outclass Cameron's

Well one was touted as a top 10 pick and the other 30 > rookie pick so that isnt unexpected.

It will be interesting who ends up the better value for money pick uo.

Stocker said in his Morrish medal speech that he wasn't fit enough to be an outside mid.

What do you make of that? I know it was kind of said as a pisstake bur do you think his fitness/athleticism will be an issue at the next level? Or do you see upside there?

depends on the reasons for his lack of fitness.

Getting killed on the spread won't help your team much.

Good work on the podcast, loved hearing your opinions in depth. I'm keen on McLennan for Brisbane because he wants to go to Queensland, we need run off half back and it makes sense to get any young defenders learning from Hodge while he's still around.

It's only cause I am so high on him but having seen him like three times at most I am not sure I would be the best judge anyway.

It doesn't really matter though does it because let's say Hill ends up an a start and is taken at 10 and cameron ends up a very good player but is taken at 50 you would still take Hill despite him not being the "value for money pick"
