I think you might be imagining it being in common use like that. If it was so the dictionary definition would be updated. It's just a dumb footy term.
What term would you use?

Lackadaisical, languid, something like that.

Edit: more like Kyle Languid huehuehue.
Laconic is just a better word to say out of those two haha

There isn’t a huge amount of players that fit the description but Langford is certainly one of the first names that comes to mind haha

Been discussed before and use a bit:

Seems to be solely in AFL having the lazy/disinterest meaning.

- Green is an ideal player for the Giants to develop, gets to play with his brother and they do share some similarities in look and size and Josh has the scope to play a range of positions and could develop into an inside midfielder aswell like his brother.

Jack Driscoll
201cm 83kg
Key Defender
DR:?

- I haven’t seen a lot of Driscoll, only got to watch one game that he played in but wasnt a notable performer in that game, looks a good size and will be one to keep an eye on if we get any games out a the end of the year

- Campbell is perhaps the most damaging player in the draft not just for his lethal left boot which he can easily kick 50 with but his ability to hit the scoreboard from the midfield aswell, Campbell has excelled at every role given to him and if he can be a consistent 20+ disposals a game player he certainly would belong in the conversation for pick 1

Errol Gulden

Defensive running

- Gulden knows how to find the footy and generally makes the right choices, his point of difference his his ability forward of centre and he has a lot of confidence which will hold him at good stead. Runs hard forward but could run a bit harder defensively to really round out his game.

Marco Rossmann

Versatility

- Rossmann is a classy mover up forward, a difficult matchup for a small defender with his lead up marking. A creative left footer who makes good decisions he will need more fo the ball to have a greater impact.

- Sheather plays an old school style, likes the physicality of the game and will use it i the to win the ball or tackle the person hard with it. His marking ability is impressive along with his strength and despite having good versatility I’d like to see him play a more permanent role as a forward as his marking ability, tackling and set sot kicking ticking a lot of boxes as a forward.

Kye Pfrengle
189cm 79kg
Utility
DR: ?

- A player I’m yet to see but is rated for his athleticism and reading the play, looks a good size aswell so is one ill be looking for if any games get played this year.

Is Campbell any good at contestant game?

I wouldn’t say he excels at it but he doesn’t have to either as his weapons are his kicking and ability to go forward, he can win his own ball and he does tackle with intent so he is hardly just an outside type. Has good balance as I put in his strengths

Who would you say are the guys that can get in and get it? Just wondering cheers.

Trew, O'Driscoll and Bruhn. None as good extractor as Green from last year.

Davies from GC academy closest to Big bodied extractor in a Cripps mold.

he has that power through the hips and legs that say to me he can explode through contact. Has the upside to be a dangerous ball winner in contested situations imo.

- Callow is a tough one for me to pin down and as much as he has been playing as a key forward he may even become a key defender at the next level aswell. My main concern is his athleticism although his leap looks fine his overall speed and agility especially in general play is pretty slow and would get found out at AFL level, potentially I could see him as an intercept defender with his ability overhead and general competitiveness.

- Davis is the type of player coaches and teammates love, he does the hard stuff and runs all day and just watching the way he plays you see its no surprise he was named Tasmania’s captain as a bottom ager, What keeps Davis away form my top 20 is his scope to be more than the type of player he is now which is a solid AFL midfielder but not a potential elite midfielder of the competition.

- Collins is the type of player coaches like with his tenacity and ability to play a few roles down back, his inconsistent kicking and decision making with those kicks are a focus area and I would like to see him play up the ground more aswell, showed some signs through the midfield late last year.

Patrick Walker (AH)
186cm 80kg
Defender
DR: Late

Strengths

Queries
Contested game
Speed

- Walker is a nice size and already has a few 20+ disposals games under his belt, he knows how to zone off and create from the back half but hasn’t shown a h=great deal defensively and his game is balanced compared to his teammate Collins who is taller, quicker and attacks contests harder. Would like to see him moved into the midfield to see him work on his contested game.

Interesting. English is a living method of expression ... what does terrific mean ie Terror? or what about fantastic ie imaginary? ... there meaning has sort of evolved. I remember the Flintstone theme song talking about having a Gay old time ...

Laconic , I don't think lazy when I hear the word more a lack of stress or a relaxed style. a loping run perhaps .

Similar to Lachie Neale imo, not too sure if you'd say he isn't elite.

Neale is a better athlete and was even more prolific compared to Davis, better kick aswell

Better athlete, yes. Similar level of kick I'd say, with a very 'get it in the general area' approach rather than spotting up targets but Neale has a further boot. Interesting how you see it either way.
If the draft is shortened (say 2 rounds) do see Davis' sort (vanilla for lack of a better term) being the kind missing out?

At the same age Neale was a better kick

I’d say he still gets taken as I feel the players with more scope and take longer clubs will be a bit more hesitant to take, unless they are in the top 20 talent I can see other high upside types being left over for next year. Players like Davis and Luke Edwards are players that could handle senior bodies next year so I feel are more likely than not in getting taken in the top 30.
