I don’t think they’ll throw Hately out the door like Bonar, much better player and gws rate him highly. Looked ready to explode preseason, so if he does leave it’ll be for a decent price.
I'm not so sure about him being the better player of the two tbh. Bonar impressed me more in U18s, with the only thing really hurting him being his lack of durability. I just don't see how Hately fits in with Green coming through and already looking better.
I'd have thought Crows would want him more, and potentially Port if Wines goes. If not SA, he'd surely get more minutes somewhere like Essendon, Carlton or Richmond where they need his type more than the Giants do
He’s a much better player than bonar, what bonar did in u18 has nothing to with what he’s produced so far at senior level.
Bonar barely played in his draft year while Hately was the #1 mid in the team that won the Championships.
In any case GWS rate him higher, as evidenced by him being their first depth midfielder whenever injury demanded and Bonar being moved on for a pittance. Maybe Green is in front but I don't think you can call that on one game. Caldwell seems more likely to be squeezed out.
Hately was a class above Bonar in u/18 level. I was at several of Aiden's games live, and he showed he has an x factor of some sort and was maybe more athletic, but did not show much else. AND only played i think 5 or 6 games. Of of the 2 games i witnessed live of Jacksons, his midfield presence and extraction as well as setting his fellow midfielders free with the ball was much better than anything Bonar came up with. that year for both i watched many games of Jacksons, and if you wanted a pure ball winning clearance machine he was it. Bonar was more of a "maybe he can get to another level. Hence, GWS taking the chance. If you had to project anything taking away any injuries the only thing Bonar was ever going to have over Hately was athletisicm and possibly a slightly higher ceiling given the fact that he could go forward as well as play midfield. Jacksons game is solely midfield. But with the injuries gws did the right thing. Aiden may still be good. Jackson i see as a stright replacement for the Crouch brothers at Adelaide or a straight replacement for Wines at Port. Not saying the brothers leave adelaide or wines leaves port, but that will be his spot at one of those teams, straight into the middle dishing the ball out on a very regular basis. He is ready to go for any team that needs him, and i dont see gws tossing him away cheaply.
Speaking of revisionism, Jack Higgins won the 2015 U16 B&F. Bonar missed the whole Carnival after doing his knee the first time, two games into the season. Some fair revisionism here. Bonar played all of a couple of games at the very back end of his top age u/18 year.
Before that, it was u/16 football, where he was the #1 player in the carnival.
Note to draftee's, never spend a year in the reserves in the deepest midfield in the comp....
I really dont want to make an update to my rankings. I have so many conflicting feelings on some players and feel some will be lower even though I don’t particularly think they should be lower or feel they aren’t as good as some make out
I see no issue personally if you've been watching footage and readjusting through that, I know when I did it, i got a better rankings overall, but each to their ownI also need to adjust my ratings, but i cant justify it with no new football being played, I hope we get a carnival at least in 2020.

Do it. My advice is follow your gut instincts about where kids should be ranked.I really dont want to make an update to my rankings. On what basis do you need to adjust your ratings?I also need to adjust my ratings, but i cant justify it with no new football being played, I hope we get a carnival at least in 2020.

- Trew is your typical midfield extractor with clean hands and strong stoppage craft he has no issues finding his own ball and will often make his possession count, injury hampered his year and was set for a huge year, isnt the most athletically gifted but is impactful with his possessions and could become more impactful if he can balance his kick to handball ratio as he is a very good kick for his position.

- An elite intercept marker Grainger-Barras has been highly rated for years now and has even grown taller in the offseason with hopefully even more growth to come, DGB is still light and is far from the finished product but his athleticism and upside make him an attractive prospect in the first round. His overall production isnt at a huge level but that should hopefully come with added size and training in an elite environment .

Kicking
- O’Driscoll is almost the complete package, he is a contested beast and hard worker but also a terrific athlete to go with it. At the moment his biggest issue is his kicking and overall composure on the outside as his hands and vision under pressure is actually pretty good but when receiving the ball himself can rush. With his speed I’d love to see him really take off when receiving the ball and settling his kicks and he could become a real weapon if it all clicks.

Agility
- McDonald in what he lacks in speed makes up for it with a strong work rate and skill set that make him a potential difficult matchup with his ability to get up the ground but also impact at ground level. McDonald like DGB has grown in the offseason and again could hopefully grow even more, growth also in strength at the top level could really help his construed marking which could really make him a nightmare to deal with.

- Chapman has been an impressive player at coasts level using his elite endurance to cover the ground not only winning his own ball but working hard to get back and intercept mark, he can often try and go for marks instead of spoiling from behind which I hope gets ironed out but his combination of marking ability and endurance make him a prospect to keep an eye on as potentially going higher than first thought.

- Walker is an exciting prospect with blistering speed and a great leap to go with it he has plenty of tools to become a top line rebound defender at AFL level, he has battled injury and hasn’t been the most productive but his athleticism and style of play are perfectly suited to modern football. - Neale is an elite athlete with a good leap and impressive running ability that makes a great combination for modern rucks but also potential to perhaps play in other positions, Neale is clean at ground level and judges his jumps well for hit outs and there is a lot of potential with Neale and he is one that could have really risen up draft boards with a strong showing this year.

- Western hasn’t done a lot wrong, when he goes out to play he plays his guts out and is a notable performer most weeks with his ability to not only find the ball but to it cleanly and at speed and he works just as hard without the ball. Western’s height is the big issue and his kicking can lack depth at times but athletically he is about as good as anybody in this draft pool and that should be enough to see him taken in the main draft. - Carroll is a smooth mover as he can weave around opponents and hurt you with his silky left foot kicking, he has had some big games at colts level when the likes of Rivers/Warner where out to give him more time as a midfielder and he also showed in the all-stars game that he can find the pill seamlessly when given time. He is a good size and born in December so has a tonne of upside.

Kicking
- Morris is almost like a smaller version of Grainger-Barras with his ability to intercept mark and read the play. Morris is more likely to play as a medium defender standing at 188cm although his athletic traits would be preferred if he could play as more of a key defender, his kicking can look a bit awkward and he will be a long term prospect with plenty of time in the gym to come.

Can’t really help that they don’t have any tall key position defenders in the hubs, holder and Scrieber can play down there aswelll but again are only 190cm. Maybe Carey has to be given a go as a defender, Duke could be an option outside of hubs.No height in defense? We don’t have any chb prospects? Sinderberry has played taller at lower levels I’ve heard but I prefer to see players play the positions they would take at afl level.

Kid has heart is literally a taller Robertson from last draft, his only down fall is his disposal, and if you watch his kicking technique it is very awkwardYep, especially good for O’Driscoll because if he could keep growing to around 190cm it would make him a very attractive prospect long term.
Growing has saved him. If ends up at 190 he goes 5-15 for me. If he hadve stayed at 182 he probably goes mid 2nd round.Kid has heart is literally a taller Robertson from last draft, his only down fall is his disposal, and if you watch his kicking technique it is very awkward
