Jeka didn’t really come on in his 2nd year. Didn’t dominate any games or put a solid stretch of form together. Plus there were big queries on his athletism, forward pressure and what he could provide once the ball hits the ground. He has a great set of hands but didn’t show much else last year. Of the 2 Ford definitely had better form at Jets and played 3-4 games where he really cut up the opposition, Jeka had 1 at most (I think against Gippsland). As a top age player that isn’t going to leave a strong impression in eyes of recruiters. Obviously coming into his top age year Ford would have to find more consistency to be considered top 20, but at the moment people talk him up because of the impressive glimpses. His first qtr on grand final day would be an example.Hey guys what are your thoughts on the Eastern Ranges Salele Faegaimalii. Was arguably the best performed bottom ager last year half way through the season. I thought the Hawks would be getting a steal as an NGA. Hasn’t played after round 11. Was an absolute beast running through the middle. And proficient on both sides. Another is Charlie Lazzaro from the Geelong Falcons. I rate these boys just as high as Phillips.....
On another note, not sure how to look at this. I know there has been a lot of talk about Eddie Ford and him being a top 10-15 pick by some. I saw a few of the Jets games last year and more so the previous year. How was Jeka only rated as a rookie pick yet Ford is being touted as first rounder. In my view over the past two years Jeka at 197cm was a far better prospect from the Jets. I’ve seen some really good spirts from Ford but also a lot of laziness from him also. There is no way there should be that great a difference of Jeka and Ford.
Anyways interested to hear your thoughts.

Jeka asked the coaches to play him in the backline, was we’ll documented. To show his versatility to recruiters.Wow thanks guys I didn’t expect a response that quick.
Wow that’s a shame if Sal has gone to take up boxing. Such a talented footballer. Saw him play down back in his U15/16 Vic Teams and always thought he would be a massive chance of creating a lot of damage in the middle. And such a penetrating kick on both sides.
On Jeka I thought the Jets were more to blame for his form and where he ended up last year. They crueled the kid. They were playing him off the back line at times and never really letting him ply his trade as a forward. I suppose they were trying to get Manton or Clarke a chance as they would have thought that Jeka was a certainty to get picked up. Almost cost the kid his shot. But I do remember watching Jeka last year, before he hurt himself(AA game at G) playing in the selection games between Vic Country and Metro. And when he was used as a lead up forward he was the most dominant KPP on the day from both teams by a country mile. He took 5/6 contested marks and kick 4 goals. In his half of football. And was the only reason Vic Metro got back into it and ended up I think just pipping Country. I know the scores in those games are irrelevant. Then he got injured in that AA game at the G where he was playing well also.
I think Ford also played that day as a bottom ager but was more or less unsighted. But another kid Hollands from country was great. Especially as a bottom ager. I agree with what you guys say about Hollands. As a bottom ager that day he was really good. Sad that he got injured.

Great but not even the best kid out of the SA 16s which says a bit, plenty not getting a go for whatever reason especially from West Adelaide who look to need a bit more flaireDPS
How bloody good does that Boy from up the Barossa Valley Austin McDonald (2022) look, only 16 years old and taking it to the 18 year olds like a veteran.
Big game last week and even better today. Hunts the ball like he's possessed and runs hard both ways.
Jesus if his development goes along with no hiccups he's gonna be some sort of player.
Good time to bottom out you think in 2020 to 2022?Great but not even the best kid out of the SA 16s which says a bit, plenty not getting a go for whatever reason especially from West Adelaide who look to need a bit more flair
Really!South Adelaide have the holy trio next year with 3 potential top 10 picks. Jason Horne a big chance for pick 1 in 2021
What can you tell us about Ashcroft?I want the 2022 threads now.
Tsatas.
Viska.
Ashcroft.
Lockett.
Long.
Busslinger.
Zinndorf.
Hagan.
I don't know if he's 2021 or '22 but Jayden Crane too.
He has that size going for him, Rachele and Sonsie as classy as they are are on the smaller side but Horne has just about everything as a taller inside mid. Has burst, skills, overhead marking, tackling and smarts. His main point to work on would be his finishing at goalReally!
Better than the Vic metro boys and Rachele?
