He’s a much better player than bonar, what bonar did in u18 has nothing to with what he’s produced so far at senior level.I'm not so sure about him being the better player of the two tbh. Bonar impressed me more in U18s, with the only thing really hurting him being his lack of durability. I just don't see how Hately fits in with Green coming through and already looking better.
I'd have thought Crows would want him more, and potentially Port if Wines goes. If not SA, he'd surely get more minutes somewhere like Essendon, Carlton or Richmond where they need his type more than the Giants do
Hately was a class above Bonar in u/18 level. I was at several of Aiden's games live, and he showed he has an x factor of some sort and was maybe more athletic, but did not show much else. AND only played i think 5 or 6 games. Of of the 2 games i witnessed live of Jacksons, his midfield presence and extraction as well as setting his fellow midfielders free with the ball was much better than anything Bonar came up with. that year for both i watched many games of Jacksons, and if you wanted a pure ball winning clearance machine he was it. Bonar was more of a "maybe he can get to another level. Hence, GWS taking the chance. If you had to project anything taking away any injuries the only thing Bonar was ever going to have over Hately was athletisicm and possibly a slightly higher ceiling given the fact that he could go forward as well as play midfield. Jacksons game is solely midfield. But with the injuries gws did the right thing. Aiden may still be good. Jackson i see as a stright replacement for the Crouch brothers at Adelaide or a straight replacement for Wines at Port. Not saying the brothers leave adelaide or wines leaves port, but that will be his spot at one of those teams, straight into the middle dishing the ball out on a very regular basis. He is ready to go for any team that needs him, and i dont see gws tossing him away cheaply.I'm not so sure about him being the better player of the two tbh. I would think Giants should be more than happy to let Hately go like they did with Bonar. Green already looks ahead of Hately, and his contract will be cheaper in the short term. If we're arguing semantics, I'd think it's close to 50/50 for Crows and Port, with only a marginal chance of him actually staying at the Giants

Bonar barely played in his draft year while Hately was the #1 mid in the team that won the Championships.
In any case GWS rate him higher, as evidenced by him being their first depth midfielder whenever injury demanded and Bonar being moved on for a pittance. Maybe Green is in front but I don't think you can call that on one game. Caldwell seems more likely to be squeezed out.
Doubt the dogs will have the picks if JUH goes really high, would have to offload someone of quality.I’ve heard the Dogs are into Caldwell too.

Yeah wines also came into a very average midfield, hately is surrounded by a graders. You mean replacement as in can play in the midfield right? If you’re trying to say he can replace wines you’re underselling wines a fair bit.
at the same age wines was averaging 25d 5clrs.
That is exactly what i mean. Straight into the midfield. Not 1 for 1. What i meant was the crouch bros are the extractors for adelaide and ollie is that at port. Hately would go into either team and become another one. "Addition" is probably the word i was looking for. But at the time i was also thinking "if" brad left, he would be a replacement. You mean replacement as in can play in the midfield right? I’ve started going over the WA footage and I’ve gravely undervalued O’Driscoll, thought he was good for sure but now I’m thinking he might be a top 10 lock
Not as it stands, but I'd fully expect someone like Toby McLean to request a trade. He struggles for time now due to our mid depth and with Bailey Smith being added to the mix, but his 2017 and 2018 were really impressive and he'd make the starting midfield in most sides. We'd easily get a good second rounder for him if that happened, which pays for a good chunk of JUH.Doubt the dogs will have the picks if JUH goes really high, would have to offload someone of quality.

We have 2020 1st, plus 2021 1st and 2nd to play around with without having to worry about how to match the JUH bid. Caldwell addresses our midfield needs more than McLean does, but I still don't see how we fit all of Bont, Macrae, Dunkley, Smith, Wallis, Libba, West and then Caldwell into the same side
Where’s the Caldwell talk coming from?
Some rumours that popped up. Pretty sure it was repeated by some of the same types who called the Bruce rumours months before they were widely reported.Where’s the Caldwell talk coming from?
Came from the Carlton poster (his username escapes me) who tends to be right. Also backed up how in the mix for Ben King we were if he wanted to return toVic.Where’s the Caldwell talk coming from?

I get 11. It's more than Sydney (8), the same as Brisbane, less than the Suns (12) - though Adelaide beat both in terms of percentage. Giants have them beat with 14-15 (depending on how Phil Davis is classified) but most of that is down to them having a significant chunk of AFL heartland in their "zone".Because with a quick look at the crows list I count 10 Sa lads (very few of which are any bloody good) on their list. I am sure that is more than gcs but is it more than Brisbane / Sydney / gws?
Brisbane has 12 QLD’ers on our list.I get 11. It's more than Sydney (8), the same as Brisbane, less than the Suns (12) - though Adelaide beat both in terms of percentage. Still only a quarter of Adelaide's list being Saussies is interesting. It makes me wonder whether it's hurting their retention problems.
I've got Smith, Cameron (even though the AFL apparently thinks he's from WABrisbane has 12 QLD’ers on our list.
), Ballenden, Zorko, Hipwood, Andrews, Payne, Allison, Fullarton, McFadyen and Coleman. Who's the 12th?Eagles is a qlder isn’t he?I've got Smith, Cameron (even though the AFL apparently thinks he's from WA), Ballenden, Zorko, Hipwood, Andrews, Payne, Allison, Fullarton, McFadyen and Coleman. Grew up in SA IIRC. He did get recruited from the QAFL but by the SOO rules (which AFL have admittedly played hard and fast with) I think he'd count as a SAussie.Eagles is a qlder isn’t he?
