Is Nova's kid definitely going down the football route?

Highly talented athlete as well, and a decent pedigree with Olympian Daniel Batman his father and Olympian Nova his mother.
He might still be a good chance, played for the Boomerangs last year at the very least. On the small and light side but has some toe and skill.

Hypothetically, if Josh Fahey moved back into GWS Academy territory would he be eligible for academy selection again?
I don’t think so, seems redundant anyway.

When I do my proper rankings for 2021 it will be a top 30. I’ve already got a better grasp on the interstate talent due to the better access of footage and funny enough it will be the Victorian kids that get underrated as some I haven’t seen since last year so I’m going way back on what I saw of them. Vic Metro dominated the championships last year and plenty of good kids didn’t even make the squad with one of those players definitely in my top 30 aswell.

I also have a small list of players for this year that aren’t academy hub players that ive liked, it’s rare that those players go top 20 let alone top 25 for my rankings but I still want to put these names out there to perhaps watch for next year aswell.

Victoria
Max Heath - Sandringham
Fraser Rosman - Sandringham
Charlie McKay - Sandringham
Darby Hipwell - Sandringham
Will Hart - Oakleigh
Dylan Thomas - Oakleigh
Heath Ramshaw - Northern
Liam Kolar - Northern
Jackson Bowne - Northern
Mackenzie Hogg - Northern
Joel Trudgeon - Northern

Allies
Max Pescud - Gold Coast
Maurice Rioli jr - Oakleigh

South Australia
Luke Pedlar - Glenelg
Hagan Wright - Glenelg
Xavier Robins - Glenelg
Finn Heard - Norwood
Brayden Cook - South Adelaide
Phoenix Spicer - South Adelaide
Liam Hamilton - South Adelaide
Malachy Carruthers - Sturt

Western Australia
Zac Meloncelli- Perth
Jaiden Hunter - Perth
Logan Guelfi - Claremont
Logan Young - Claremont
Lachlan Vanirsen - Subiaco
Edward Curley - East Fremantle
What kind of player is Cook? Seems that a few people have started to mention him

Medium forward/wingman, nice kick of the footy and strong overhead. 188cm and 74kg and has kicked 9 goals from 5 games. Certainly the type of player to bolt up the order.

Assuming the Hawks end up with pick 3-4 who are you thinking we’d go after?
I think young key position players is an area of need but so is some speed and class through the midfield. Wouldn’t be suprised if you go best available and adress needs later

I'd say unlikely there would be the right KPP at Hawks pick at this stage. Unless Thilthorpe drops.
Thilthorpe
McDonald
DGB
Cox

All 4 of those players are worthy top 10 picks and the top 10 is hardly set in Stone this early on so still worth considering them all as possible selections for hawks.

Think our most glaring issue is speed and class to deliver to our forwards. Unfortunately our midfield group doesn’t have a big amount of dynamic to it.
Would Hollands be worth the pick that early (assuming he isn’t already gone by 3-4) and then perhaps using a later Pick on someone like Callow.

Mitch Lewis showed great signs last year but is coming back from injury and is void of all confidence. Jeka sounding like he’s doing well in the scratch matches so KPF wouldn’t be our highest priority unless someone too good to pass up was there

Hollands is certainly around the mark and another good option as that dynamic forward/mid.

The type of key forward to look for is one that is a top end prospect and potential focal point and as key forwards I think only Thilthorpe and McDonald fit that bill. Callow isn’t a bad option later but would just add to a list of good key forwards but not truly great ones. If you don’t get a key tall early I don’t think hawks will take one at all this year.

eDPS ... the recent game by Tom DeKoning , in addition to recent games Ladhams has made me wonder just how raw they look in their draft year in comparison to what the potentials are showing this year. I stumbled on a post by yourself mentioning Tom DeKoning upside although he was inconsistent .. He certainly showed a lot of upside.. Would you place the rucks that we have talked about eg Shannon Neale or Michael Mallard in the same potential bucket as Tdek

I also saw an interesting comment rel to Nathan Kruger at the time in 2017 .. rel to something off field. I just wonder if that was the reason he was not drafted in his draft year? Geelong seem to be rel happy with him, so that comment was a surprise.

Appreciate the replies mate. Just another question - I’ve seen a couple of videos of Connor Downie and am actually really keen on him. Obviously tied to our club but how do you see him performing at the next level (hard to say I know but is there a large amount of growth for him)?

Great summation. I've watched him live probably 5 times this year and I would have taken 5 paragraphs to say what you said. That is exactly what he is and where he sits. The boy just looks a footballer

Yeah certainly a little bit of growth left at least, he is another one of those players in the 2nd round logjam who could get bid somewhere in the 20s or later. He isn’t on the same level as Maginness who got a later bid than he should have on talent. I think he will play best at half back but also looks decent on the wing. He was set to play more on the inside this year but personally prefer his traits on the outside.

Neale is upside for sure which tbh every young ruckman is in that boat and players like TDK who played mostly forward as a junior was always going to be inconsistent as most tall lanky kids are.

My understandings on Krueger was that his application wasn’t at the level required which can say the same for plenty of good young talent, same questions where asked of Sydney Stack who obviously had the talent.
