Education the Key says Ratten

But anyways, I do believe both Carlton and Richmond have good developing lists but honestly (and it could just be bias ;)) but I see Carlton's list a couple of years ahead now with Judd, Kruezer, Stevens returning etc. but don't get me wrong, big things will come from Cotchin, Foley, King & Thursfield in the future I believe.

Good to see some nice sensible communication and discussion about two clubs lists :thumbsu:

As far as I'm concerned, who is more advanced can go either way. Richmond have alot more ???'s in guys like coughlan, simmonds and brown who may never be as good as they were versus your smaller ?'s over judd and stevens. But on the other hand if all of those guys do get somewhere near their best, I think we will improve just that little bit more to pip you guys. At least for next year ;)

In the next 2-3 years we are going to lose alot of quality/core players to retirement in richo, bowden, simmonds and brown. With not much in the 25-29 region to back them up.

Rancid why are you judging players on Browlow Votes? Are you suggesting because someone has more brownlow votes in their best season - at their best their a better player??

Barrasi, Whitten, Matthews, JESAULENKO (you beauty), Ablett Snr - all never won brownlows.

Ablett Snr averaged 7 goals a game in 1993 i think it was and only polled 13 votes!!! Does that mean coughlan was a better footballer at his best?

Dont think brownlow votes mean much at all really, considering stevens argues with the umpire very agressively often throughout a game it is no wonder he dosnt poll as well as he should.

......As for my best 22: Kingsley came to us a 3 time, 50+ goal, leading goalkicker. He was in our best 22 on reputation. Gaspar was in our best 22 because i wasnt sure ...

lol. Backtrack Alert! So it seems at this time of the year you claim at least 2 players in your "best 22" who you call duds a few months latter. Hilarious stuff. Time now for a little Math lesson. 2008 - 2003 = 5 years. Coughlan was just above average 5 years ago, and was slow then. Now 5 years on, and after 2 knee reco's and sitting on the sidelines for 18 months plus, he'll be even slower. Miller was trying to trade him only 2 months ago! And now all of a sudden he's the Tiges best midfielder and going to dominate in 2008. This is just too funny. Go on, tell me about McMahon and Morton. McMahon is a Bulldogs B-grader, who spent a considerable amount of 2007 at VFL level, and now all of a sudden he's going to be a superstar in your 2008 side. And it gets worse. Morton was solid WAFL level, and would have been delisted by the Weagles if his contract had ended, and now all of a sudden he's going to be a superstar at Tigerland in 2008. Miller needs to stop recruiting recycled ordinaries. The Tiges list is in a shocking state. Trading away a low second round draft pick for a Terry-Favourite-Bulldogs B-grader was just classic trademark Miller incompetence. Your 28 consecutive years of failure was no accident. Richmond supporters are asking themselves when will the Miller-Terry nightmare end. :)

Yet another thread hijacked by Biatchmond supporters.

On topic, sensational work Ratts. Will obviously need to back it up on the track.

Just one minor concern would be how receptive the team will be to this approach.

The following is anecdotal and personal opinion. Take with a grain of salt. ;)

From training reports, it appears Ackland is behaving like a spoilt kid and isn't pulling his weight. In a learning environment, this would be detrimental.

Fev looks like your classic kid sitting down the back shooting spit balls at the swots in the front row...

Happy for Ackland to behave like that...considering he'll be with the Bullants all year.

Fev, well thats just Fev...hopefully come game time he'll put up.

The good thing about Ratt's and his education is that he has so many young kids to influence. Along with people like Mark Riley, Bradley and add in the experience of people like Judd, the bunch of talented kid we have will have the best education possible....look out 2009/2010 when the enducation pays off...onwards and upwards!!!

Carlton supporters crack me up. Compared to Blue History though, parrot is now music to my ears...errr...eyes ;)

If you don't like Carlton fans responding to your posts on a CARLTON THREAD, then i suggest you go back to the board that has 28 years of insipid football associated with it.....

Bye-bye....

Is that Hackland in the light blue?

Is Saddington holding him down while Scottie winds up to kick his head off?

As an aside, a lot of these things worthy of discussion in a thread get lost as soon as the yellow and black ferrals come in and turn every thread into a childish pissing contest.

The mods can't or won't (I don't know what the rules really are about all this) prevent it, so how about we take matters into our own hands and simply ignore them???

Their posts are more about baiting us than actually caring what the thread is about -they'll eventually stop if we don't bite.

Smugly keep your pointers in your pants until round 1 and then pull them out and point at the scoreboard when we're 10 goals up?? :)
