Hell, no-one expected Foley to be as good as he is this time last year
It would be great if Edwards didn't get pinged for holding the ball so much but that should improve with age

NATHAN FOLEY- This kid is ready to go bang! played two full quarters and im confident he had the ball more times then anyone else, absolutely electrifying and could be our most important onballer this year, takes off and didnt waste it today, given plentiful game time he WILL feature prominantly in our b&f.His endurance is scary.9/10

Any chance Edwards can get alot more game time next year. Dissapointed in the time he was given this year. Someone remind me which game it was that he took that mark over richo at the g?

I just see it as easing him in to AFL, as he is only a youngster, so they are taking a similar line as they did with Foley. So I would expect by 2009 he would start every game, next year he will probably get a bit more game time than he did this year.

Edwards definately has the ability to be as good as Chris Naish one day. If he can kick 35 - 45 a year as a small forward over a period of 5 or 6 years like Naish did then its a win win.Edwards is an excitement machine but if they can harness that raw energy he could be anything.

I'd be extremely dissapointed if Edwards merely became a permanent small fwd, he will be one of our prime onballers..

and Tugga I see your point, makes sense but i still think hes ahead of a lot of our current onballers so he'll probably be rotated through the middle more than some would expect

RichosGuns you beat me to it i was just about to say he is our version of Dale Thomas.

Hopefully he does become a midfileder because we don't need anymore forward flankers lol.

adamania I think him getting pinged with holding the ball is a good sign, it shows he wants to take the game on and with a bigger body he will be able to break some of those tackles that last year resulted in holding the balls. I think the coaches would be happy with it as well.

He does have that freaky X factor about him I dunno if anyone remembers it or saw it but when he almost pulled off a Dale thomas like goal (the one that wasn't counted cos it went out) where Edwards dodged several players on the boundary line and then ran into an open goal but missed.

I was thinking about that the other day actually. My memory of the event is a litte sketchy but i believe it occured late into the year. He dodged and weaved through people from the 50m arc, running along the boundary into the left pocket before missing a sitter.
Nevertheless, i was up and about, cheering the litte fella on as he showed the football world just a glimpse of what he is capable of.

At least Nash could occasionally take a turn on the ball. Really loved watching the little fella play and still get chills down the spine watching that goal against Essendon in the 95 2nd semi. To compare him to Krakouer is sheer farce. Was about twice the player Krakouer ever was.

It was vs Collingwood, around round 15/16. I just watched it the other day, was a pretty handy little manouvre except for the finish. Looked like Plough was riding it from the coaches box, so I think this indicates he has been told to really take blokes on and they were relatively happy with the result.
