really like the look of this kid... has a fast lead as well as clean possession! has a lot of composure for such a young player and could definitely be a great future asset. has a bit of height needed in our "short" forward line. also wouldn't mind seeing him play up on the HFF or even on the W sometime this year. I would go as far as to say that if fev was to ever miss a match this season (touch wood) Edwards could replace him down FF. Thoughts?

AND, where did we recruit him from and when?

Cheers!

From the Western Jets, taken 36th overall in the 2005 Draft. I like him.

Jake arrived in the 2005 draft at pick 36. His grandad was a Dogs legend, and his dad Alan played for Richmond, Collingwood and then the Dogs. If you've watched the 79 grand final, you've seen his dad. He was a pretty handy player until his knees caught up with him. I think he came from The Western Jets.

Now I look him up in the Blueseum, his great-grandfather also played VFL. That's some bloodline.

I thought at the time that it might have been his first kick but then remembered him leading and marking outside 50 and I think he kicked inside 50. I suspect it was his second kick but happy to be corrected.

Snake has had a horrible run with injuries during the past 2 seasons and was unlucky not to have debuted towards the end of 2006 and during 2007.

Quick with good hands. Has some size about him too. We need to persist with Snake :thumbsu:

He handballed to fev who set up murphy's first and then kicked the next off the ground. i haven't seen the replay but i think it may have been his first kick.
Thanks.

I have the feeling it was his first kick which would be a great start to his career.

He's our Rusling with his legspeed, but he has a great pedigree and is a footballer not an athlete. :thumbsu:

Definitely a positive for you guys. He looks like he has plenty of development left in him. Once you get Fisher back you will have a pretty potent forward line.

You need to use these second string forwards a bit more. Every time you guys go forward you appear to look for Fev too much.

.

Exactly right. It's so frustrating seeing our players bomb it time after time to Fev for no result.

I know I push his barrow a bit hard! But that's only because I hace complete faith and confidence in him.
a few other things on Jake. In time you will find out that he is equally proficient on his left foot as his right. Not unlike his cousin Shane O"Bree.
Their Grandfather Arthur was a great junior coach and 1954 Footscray premiership player, and was big on kicking with your non prefered when you trained or played with your mates. As a result the boys, and Butch are as comfortable on one as the other

Shocking kick for goal. When he missed that goal from 10-15 metres out in the 3rd Quarter I was listening to SEN.

Commentators called it a certain goal, but Billy Brownless said don't be so sure - Edwards has a 'two handed ball drop' and is not a good kick.

Sure enough he missed it - and another shortly after.

I like his movement and I think he gives a bit of 'grunt' up forward but agree with Billy that his kicking is suspect.

Seems to be a Wayne Hughes prerequisite.

What will his gametime be if Hartlett misses?

Do you think he will take up the slack and spend most of the game on the ground?

Thanks.

Neither of those two goal attempts should've been considered certainties in the third quarter as they were on a tight angle with the wind blowing the ball away from goal . Instead , he should've either gone checkside or looked to square it up . I told my son at the time that he would miss for that very reason .
