In 1841 the Scottish brothers Robert and Peter McCracken left 'the old country' and set sail for Melbourne,Australia for a new life.

Years later,Essendon FC started out with local juniors playing matches as a team at 'McCraken's Paddock' on the family's expansive Moonee Ponds property.

They later ending up founding the Essendon Football Club at a meeting in the McCracken family home 'Ailsa' early in 1873. This was the when EFC first played in the senior competition.
