I was thinking IF Hurley AND Hibberd both go how do we get in the best position to re-invigorate our list?
A possible and semi-realistic way I see it is:
Hurley to the dogs for their R1 + R2 (say pick 13+31) and swap 2017 ESS R3 for WB R2 (WB get Hurley for a R1 pick + R2 pick and a pick downgrade)
Hibberd to Melbourne for R2 pick (say pick 25) and possibly a 2017 R4 pick.
Then we trade:
Picks 19,25,31,37 (2822 points) to GWS for picks 8 & 16 (2618 points) (GWS do this because basically they are just targetting academy picks and 204 free points is a good get)
Picks 1, 55 and WB 2017 R2 pick(approx 3770 points) to GC for picks 4 & 7 (3678 points). GC get pick 1 to use on player before Brodie pick plus extra points in 55 plus start stockpiling picks in case of next year academy picks.
This gives us picks:
4, 7, 8, 13, 16, 73
Assuming Prestia goes to either Carlton or Richmond for their first round pick, I see the draft order at the end of the year therefore being something like (not including bids for GWS players):
1) Gold Coast: Brodie
2) Gold Coast: Bowes (Matching Brisbane's bid and using pick gained from Richmond/Carlton (5th/6th pick) + one of their 2nd rounders)
3) Brisbane: SPS
4) Fremantle: Marshall
5) Essendon: McCluggage
6) Richmond/Carlton: Ainsworth
7) Essendon: McGrath
8) Essendon: Venables
9) Port Adelaide: Gallucci
10) St Kilda: Simpkin
11) North Melbourne: English
12) West Coast: Rotham
13) Essendon: Toranto
14) Adelaide: Scharenberg
15) Sydney: Scrimshaw
16) Essendon: Battle
...
73) Essendon: Walla upgrade.
Giving us something along the lines of McCluggage/Marshall, McGrath, Venables, Toranto, Battle.
While also maintaining our 1st and 2nd rounders next year.
Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer Hurley and Hibberd to stay but I think this would really help re-invigorate our list if they were to go.
