So I think most would agree that we're in need of another forward to work alongside Daniher. Carlisle may or may not get better as a forward (friday night was better, though some confidence in his own set shots would be nice) but our depth is short. Given our draft is limited with sanctions, I suspect we'll miss out on the better talls (though we may sneak keitel). These are the forwards I could think of that we may have a shot at;

Josh Walker
Mitch Brown (Geelong)
Shane Kersten (Will likely be locked up)
Kefford (Essendon VFL)
Johnston (Adelaide)
Robbie Tarrant
Membley (not sure if I have the name right)
Jaksch?
Waite (good god I hope not)

If Tarrant wasn't injured so often I'd be interested. Kersten's probably my choice, but the chances are slim. I could understand if we went for Walker. Has talent but doesn't really dominate at VFL level like he should.

Tim Membrey from Sydney is who I'd target. Can likely be gotten relatively cheaply. If Crameri was the athlete version of a mid sized forward, Membrey is the footballer version.

Good hands, great shot for goal, moves well enough to be a threat at ground level. Also loves the physical stuff and is a good tackler. Sydney have also spent two seasons teaching him the defensive aspects of football.

With Daniher and a resting ruckman, our third tall needs to be mid sized and able to apply defensive pressure to a high standard. Getting Membrey allows us to use pick 19 on a speedy and classy ball user.

Also means that Carlisle, Hurley and Hooker form an awesome defensive trio.

Yeah, don't know why Kersten's name is being thrown around constantly (not just on the Bombers board). Walks straight into the vacancy left by JPod (Geelong obviously have complete faith in him). He would've been playing for the past couple of months if he wasn't injured. Surely re-signing is just a formality now.

I still don't know what Membrey is supposed to do. He's not a key forward.

Think its too easy to say we need another key forward, sure we need some depth but I think our real problem has been bell chambers injury, why? Because structurally we've looked better with Ryder up forward.

So I think we should be looking for another ruck who can jump in when either Ryder or Bell miss next year.

Next we need more speed through midfield, that can kick. Imagine if Colyer could kick like Breust, we would have won 2-3 more games IMO.

He's not, but we need goal kickers of all sizes. He'd hit up at the ball and command a decent defender because of his ability overhead.

If the swans want a key defender then they should look into a stein berg straight swap

We continually have the discussion about small forwards/midfielders - Kyle Martin has to be the man - Dominates the VFL but still on Collingwood's rookie list.
VFL stats for this year -

39 disposals, 9 marks, 6 tackles, 1 goal
20 disposals, 4 tackles
18 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 goals
15 disposals, 14 tackles, 2 goals
30 disposals, 15 marks, 2 goals
34 disposals, 11 marks, 7 tackles, 4 goals
27 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 goal
30 disposals, 8 marks, 4 tackles, 6 goals
18 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 goals
24 disposals, 8 tackles
16 disposals, 1 goal

Im not sure we need tha genuine 'small' forward, more so that mid sized 183cm - 191cm hit up forward who can play small or tall, rotate through the midfield and be able to produce low 20 possessions and 2 goals a game type numbers.

Zaka is the small running version, I would love to see an Angus Monfries marking type forward now.

Never thought I would say this, but, I miss 'Gus'.

Kersten has been close to a game for over a season , just failing by a week or two before last weeks finals. Geelong offered him a longer contract but he only signed a 1 , I suppose that may be why some are thinking he may be available. Its been thought that he may be tempted to go back West , but im not sure its that simple they had a chance to draft him and went past him in teh draft. Now he has finally got in the park , shown form and talent my guess is he unlikely to go elsewhere.

Harvey Daniher also played his first game of TAC Cup football (albeit as an underaged in a Championships depleted Cannons side. Stats were

(20 possessions)
7 effective kicks
2 ineffective kicks
8 effective handballs
3 ineffective handballs
11 handball receives
3 marks
5 tackles

Not bad from a kid on debut as an underager.

Walker and Brown would be behind Kersten now , although both are different types to him and too each other , and depending on who you ask , they either have great potential or limited upside. Therefore , id guess if there was a reasonable offer for trade Geelong would look at it , we are usually fair and try to look after players.

Personally I like Walkers effort , and considering he has played so little senior footy and is still young , it would have to be very reasonable deal to trade him.
