Funny , I would have thought (just in case) that you would be trying to bring in as many fresh faces as possible. I guess it depends on other clubs willing to participate
You may get fringe players - Do you think we would have got Goddard if this ASADA rubbish was happening in 2012 ? Nothing wrong with going to the draft and developing your own players.

That's why i keep saying Baugley's the kind of player that you can always improve on, but for key defenders i don't see it as an issue as they won't come up against explosively quick talls like buddy every week.

Hawthorn is just one dramatic example.

There are plenty of combinations of KPFs that move really well.

GWS - Cameron and Tomlinson (in addition to mobile mountains Patton and Boyd)

GCS - Day and Lynch (with Dixon and a ruck in there too)

WCE - Kennedy, Darling, McGovern (with Nic Nat and Lycett being freaks as rucks - Cox is another freak obviously nearing the end)

Sydney - Buddy, Reid and Goodes (with Tippett)

Pies - Cloke, Reid and White

Adelaide also with Walker, Jenkins and Lynch

Probably not Goddard , for a year or two maybe you have to take the Chappys or whatever , but Ess is a strong club , and even a slight drop for a year or so will only mean a stronger bounce with those drafted players that you talk about.
Difficult to really know with it all hanging around , I agree.

Does anyone know why Nick Rippon (North Ballarat/VFL) isn't talked about? Went to St Pats (I was a year or two above him) and is a midfielder who racks them up and is virtually in the best on a weekly basis. Given he's only 20 (I think) can't believe he isn't even talked up as at the least a rookie list prospect.

Yoda_ , do you see your club being seriously involved in trades? Trade a name player to get into first round etc?
Think our club sees us moving into a premiership window so doubt we'd be looking to trade anything with substantial value.

To be honest, the only two viable chess pieces ably valuable (Carlisle/TBC) would have significantly lower remuneration than what they are worth to us hence we'd be looking to keep them.

in lames terms, huh !

Mentioned him in the 'mature aged players' thread on the Drafts and Tradings board. Exceptionaly numbers for a 20/21 y.o. Expecting him to be picked up

(sorry for quoting this twice Turbocat)

One player who I would be genuinely worried we may lose to FA in the coming years (contracted till end of 2016) is David Myers.

Big bodied inside midfielder who has been shuffled around like a Jokers pack of cards. Never has a real chance to get some continuity into the one position so may seek other opportunities when this contract is up.

I doubt he will go as he is selected when fit, but he may want more midfield minutes and seek them elsewhere (although rumours float around he re - signed after significant interest from I think it was Melbourne last off season)

Re-signed for 3 years at the end of last year. Keep trying.

Cheers for that. Who do you reckon is looking at him? I suppose North are, given NB are their affiliate side. Do you reckon we're likely to show any interest, given our draft sanctions?

Yeah geez, wouldn't wanna look at some like Goldsack who actually applies pressure and keeps it in the forward half and is versatile go at both ends.
I just want foorwards that can hit the scoreboard more often than not and GoldSack certainly isnt that. We already have Ambrose/Kommer to play those roles.

Don't know if this guy has been mentioned ... Cam McCarthy...

Pick at #14 in last years draft, KPF, clearly never going to get a game at the Giants with that forward line.

He's from WA so Freo will be falling over themselves but maybe a potential target?

From the GWS site..
Viewed by some as a potential top-10 pick, McCarthy was considered the second-best tall in last year’s draft class, behind new Giants teammate Tom Boyd. A high-flying key forward who suffered a broken leg in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.
