Much as I respect Stanton as a player the idea of losing him does not really concern me.

We still go into next year with Watson, Goddard, Heppell, Myers, Hocking, Cooney and Howlett as experienced players who do not cover the ground particularly well. You really only want the first 5 in the team.

The reality is that something was always going to have to give to help the midfield to get where it needed to go. It kind of makes me want to embrace the rest of the purge. Get rid of Dempsey and free up spots for our quality kids to play (remember that Watson, Zac Merrett, Myers, Hocking and Cooney were not playing for large parts of the second half of the year when some of the younger players were getting games).
I don't mind losing him but would much prefer an early 2nd rounder or Billings/Bruce(this is a joke in case the gullible saints fan take it to heart) over leuenberger who might miss half the season like bellcho.

Windowlicker8 saying there's noises about Tomlinson to us. Would definitely be interested. Would give up both 2nd round picks and maybe a pick upgrade to get it done.
Yes, very much this. Apart from picks, would very gladly make this guy our target for the trade period.

Bennell to Essendon possible? From what i would have thought it simply wont happen due to the last 3 years and the clubs reputation being destroyed cant see that being a good move bringing bennell it who has his own drug issues
No doubt just not sure it would particularly help the Essendon brand from people looking in from the outside
Our next coach is likely to be a Pharmacist. An in one preseason the team he captained transformed from average Joe's into The Mountain from Game of Thrones. AAAND while being senior coach the club/staff turned a blind eye to the players recreational drug use.

Three racked up lines 2 years ago from Bennell would be the least of our concerns if we are talking about "club image".
He is an elite talent, his best I believe is as good as GAJ and Fyfe. He showed that this year after the suspension, if we received pick 11 from the doggies I would trade it for Bennell in a heart beat.

Hmm, makes it difficult. Because you know with having given up Boyd last year and McCarthy not hanging around for the long haul that they won't be interested in throwing away Tomlinson too easily.
They may convince McCarthy to stay around and dump his manager. They stockpiled KPP's for this reason.
Ironic. He is the player we took with the richards pick isnt he?
Yes he is. In the end, if we manage to not sign Leuey and Sydney sign Dempsey it may work out in our favour.

Well they won't move McCarthy this season, that of which I'm sure. So they do have another 12months to turn his opinion around. And with Cameron and Patton there, that might open up our avenue for Tomlinson. Can't see us obtaining him earlier than this time next year though.

Would be interested as well but i just can not see GWS interested in picks as they do not really need youth. They need experience.

Seriously?
Tomlinson is a bright prospect no doubt, but despite being a pick #9, in his 53 games over 4 years (most of which have been played as a key forward) has only managed 17 goals, never having kicked more than 2 in a game, giving up 1 second round pick would suffice, by no means should we give up 2 second rounders and a pick upgrade.

Do any of you see Tom Hickey or Seb Ross as possible trades your club might want? Bit of talk on out board that Hickey is looking around since Longer has passed him and Seb obviously comes from an Essendon family and is Jobe's cousin. He's come on well this year and was tearing it up pre-season before he unfortunately also tore his hammy.

Actually has been shuffled around a lot. I'd guess he's played 15 in the middle (on a wing), and split the remaining games forward and back fairly evenly. Massive talent.

Would have thought Essendon would be interested in Hickey for the right price? Seems pretty decent and young enough.

We are going to be wasting draft picks if all these players leave ie 3 retirees plus Melky, Carlisle and Stants. Not to mention delistings.

We are already keeping Gwilt, Browne, Kav, Pears, Steiny, Giles, Browne on our main list who should be potentially gone now if we wernt in this situation or next yr.

Maybe we could offer 2 late picks for a slight upgrade to GWS pick if it nets extra points for them.

Was Aylett on the senior list or rookie?
Thats 8 gone with him. 1 rookie upgrade (Mckernan). 7 picks probably sign up a ruck it seems (Leuy/Z.Smith/Z.Clarke/other).

Thats 6 picks left still (albeit some good ones. 2 first rounders from 5-13 and 3 2nd rounders from 23-28.

I guess the 3rd rounder will be about 43 so not too bad.

Id consider offering pick 43 up for Lester from Brisbane

My god man, do some research.

Have no idea why North is interested in Stanton, though I can understand Swans interest in Dempsey.
Dempsey would do alright at the swans, I also reckon Steinberg and Pears could find a role as well if they can get back to the press and structure that they've had in years gone by.

North are giving Essendon circa 2004 a run for their money in terms of putting all their eggs in one basket.
