Was cool to see a lot of well known media personalities and former players. Brad Sewell isn't as tall as I thought and I'm taller than Cal Twomey which is nice to know I guess. Had a nice little chat to him until my mate wanted me to take a photo of him with O'Loughlin. Must annoy a lot of former players with spectators always wanting photos. Heap of people wanted a photo with Tom Harley and he was happy to do it he seemed a real ripper bloke.

What?

Just to put some perspective on McClugg's performance today, the opposition had him on a pretty loose leash today. It just seemed like he glided around and did as he pleased.
It was essentially an exhibition game, more about showing what each player is doing. The result is irrelevant really

McCluggages first 2 goals were basically gifted to him, but hes next 2 were class. Still gotta give credit to him for getting in the right spots though
Parish, Zach, Heppell, McLuggage = exciting midfield.

Add in Laverde, Langford, Francis and even Tippa and Fantasia occasionally drifting through.

Then Watson, Goddard, Myers, Hocking

And the hard at the ball Bird and Howlett.

This would be one hell of a midfield.

Thing that impressed me about McLuggage is that he is always in the right place... he knows who to pass the ball to when...... he has incredibly quick closing speed and puts heaps on pressure on the player with the ball forcing turnovers .... he could kick the ball through the eye of a needle Gary Ablett and Stevie J style.

If he plays alongside Joe Daniher I reckon Clugg goals with such ease that It will be contagious and Joe will do similar.

I'm not sure on McCluggage being a genuine midfielder seems more suited to the wing and not in the centre bounces. Goal kicking wingman in the Sidebottom/Embley mould.
Aren't 40%+ of his possessions contested. He has quick hands when tackled. Also noticed that he is not as small framed as people have been making out. He is quite tall compared to the other midfielders and looks like he would fill out nicely with a nice pre-season.

Yeah he's already filled out a lot this season alone, I remember seeing him at the start of the year playing for Vic and he wasn't as built in the chest and arms

I think the advantage with mccluggage is that he could still be a top player even if he doesn't play midfield full time (e.g Jason akermanis type)

He won most of his footy on the wing today. Not a natural in and under player.

I agree mccluggas all class but best case scenario by far imo is to get 5 and 7 for pick 1... if we take pick 1 its going to be a bloody tough call between mcgrath, mcclugga and predominantly based on the last two weeks taranto. if not i'd love two of taranto/brodie/ainsworth/scrima/florent but wondering if dodoro would take English if he's still around over 2 mids?

If we are not targeting an established forward to work with joey, I hope we take mclug. The thought of Heppell, Merrit, Parish and Mcluggage leading our midfield towards our next genuine finals push has me excited a wee bit.

Not to mention the gems we have found providing support in the mid
