im sure lots have a great leg but can they go the other way and defend?
Hard to say for a lot of them since they nearly all attack there is hardly much defending in general at TAC level, they are all told to take the game on because that's what gets them noticed but I'll list a few more names after work that I'd love us to get late. De Witt was also mentioned by shifter as someone who should get drafted when I watched them play against Murray a few weeks ago.

not much else about kpp wise?

could probably use another which would allow Gwilt to retire i guess
If we lose then Gwilt then we will probably be after another defender, it would probably be good from an age demographic point of view to draft a defender in this years draft or next years to even out our 22 and under age group.

No i mean generally. A contracted player who "nominates" a club i.e. Dayne Beams should be told you're under contract mate, if you're leaving, you're going where we tell you to maximise your value. What's the point of a contract if only one party has the security?
but the reverse to that is that if a player is OOC he should have full rights to move where he wants. eg as a free agent.

if both of these were to be implemented we would become like the NFL/NBA, players hold no right of decline to a trade while under contract but become automatic free agents after said contract expires.

The current system the AFL has gives players a bit of a say while under contract and the club a bit of a say when OOC

Dodoro: You take the Hibberd pick and next years 2nd. Also, as we are so easy to deal with by not taking him in the PSD we will also not bid on Bowes with pick 1.

was about to suggest this.
although I'd just offer them the Hibberd pick with a promise not to bid on Bowes.
Other than that he can go to another club that is willing to pay overs or let PSD.

..... Then we bid on Bowes :D

They went after him a few years ago from memory so no surprise.
thought it was Mitch Brown who wanted to return home to Victoria and nominated St Kilda. WCE said no
coincidentally the next year im pretty sure Jamie Cripps wanted a trade home to WCE from St Kilda and WCE pulled the 'you shouldnt stand in the players way card', and got him for relative unders

man Dodoro has a big decision on who to take pick 1. Ainsworth just had a monster game. I have no idea who we should take.
He was hardly sighted for the first half of that game and played against a very young Bendigo team. I'd have McCluggage, Brodie, SPS and McGrath still ahead

Anyone have Aaron Fiora's pre-draft bio? Just interested to see how he stacks up vs some of the players spoken about as possible top 5 picks this year. Fiora was a major bust so need to make sure we don't take a Fiora type with pick 1.
we just have to ask Richmonds recruiting team who is good... then make sure we dont take them

We do get a early first back thou ( pick 4) I feel psd is the type of thing that will haunt us in years to come when other clubs do it to us, not to mention just stop trading with us all together, pick 19 is not enough for him and we will most likely get pick 27 for Hibberd (if he goes to demons), the two seconds would never be traded for a top 10 pick so even thou it might equal that it's not worth it, just wanted to state my reasoning behind it

Pick 19 + Pick 26 combined equal a top 10 pick on points numbnuts. If you still can't see how it's not a terrible deal, I'm not gonna bother anymore. All I'll say is you're delusional if you think any club would do that deal for him. As for GCS not trading with us, given how they're going they may not be around for much longer.

Hey guys. How does a trade of a player work exactly. Players that nominate their club of choice and a trade gets done.

How about players that are out of contract or under contract and get traded, do they have a say in where they go? For example Dempsey has 4 years left on a 8 year deal and we want Nat Fyfe, Freo want pick 19 and Dempsey, Dempsey is under contract, are we able to send him off without him having a say?

Same with JOM if he nominates norf ( why the **** would anyone? ) but norf cannot come up with a suitable trade but Essendon can with pick 1 and Dempsey can they send JOM to Essendon without him actually wanting to?

I really hope this made sense, just finished a 13 hr graveyard shift.
Again giving up Pick 1 in any trade for O'Meara is the dumbest thing we could do.

Would have Hooker and Brown are tall defenders. They can play both ends certainly but are certainly not key forwards (Brown had the occasional decent game up forward but mostly struggled to have an impact), and we can't trust Hooker's goal kicking.
Tall defenders: Hartley, Hurley, Hooker, Brown, Ambrose, Francis.
Tall forwards: Daniher.
