Another potential gun who's either skinny as a rake or too short: Shai Bolton. Do want but probably don't need.
Has good speed and confidence but isn't a great user of the footy he tends to just bang it on the boot which is ok for an inside player but not mm for a player like him it's the only thing keeping him from our second pick I reckon

- We're not trading Pick 1 for O'Meara
- Suns aren't taking one second round pick for O'Meara
- O'Meara's not coming here via the PSD

If he nominates us, a fair deal for both sides will eventuate.

I'd say we'll start off offering Pick 19 (or whatever our second rounder turns out to be) + the Hibberd Pick. After a counter, I'd say we'll then have to include our 2017 second rounder and/or a player.
19 is more than enough for O'Meara - Players with two years experience and then miss two years with injuries have no more currency.

You'd still keep McKernan? I'd be doing everything possible to get rid of him. Doesn't belong at AFL level.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I would give him 1 year. We have 2 injury prone rucks and he can give some cover for a ruck and a forward.

With the severe lack of depth we have on our list, we need to at least entertain the idea of another year.
True I'd just prefer to draft Cameron at say #55, and enquire with GWS about the availability of someone like Flynn or look to pinch Archie Smith from the Lions or something.

Doesn't sound like a particularly good option for us, Woosha has spoken all year about ball-use being paramount if we're to be competitive throughout games. Think we get the speed and class from McCluggage and if we get O'Meara and get him fit he's certainly no slouch in those departments either. Don't want a guy who may be fast but is prone to butchering it.

If he gets a contract you'd think it would be towards the end of trade week, after other options have been explored.
Fair call, I guess if after the trade period we've got no better options then yeah fine 1 more year. But I certainly don't want him around beyond next year at most he isn't good enough.

Also thought I would mention this, when I was talking to shifter I brought up Ainsworth and he said he will be taken in the first 5. I asked who else was looking likely for top 5 and he named SPS, McGrath, Marshall and said Bowes would get bid on but thinking back now he said nothing about McCluggage or Brodie I just assumed it's because it's common knowledge that should be around pick 1 and 2 but maybe there is more to it. Also when I talked to him at the Muray vs Dandy game he didn't say much about Brodie but had alot to say about Marshall.

He'd still be a fair bit behind McCluggage (who has been putting up numbers like that all year).
You're right, I think I'm looking far into just how easily McCluggage gets bowled over. I have Seedsman's body type in my head, who doesn't do well when it comes to push and shove. Obviously it's impossible to tell how McC will fill out, but I don't know something makes me nervous.

I'm leaning towards that high energy Ainsworth and McGrath have, but we have enough midgets as it is.

Anyways, how good is O'Meara. :)

Yeah ive seen this around a bit aswell. Saw somewhere that a recruiter thought McClug wasnt worth pick a top 3 pick. Goes to show that stats dont always mean much

For me, Ainsworth is one of those kids you just want to have but just cant give up the pick you have for him. Pick 1 will probably a be a bit too early for him IMO
Left his run too late imo. Reckon McCluggage is a lock for us at #1, SPS to the Lions at #2 (or #3 if they bid on Bowes), I reckon Freo stretch to Marshall at #3 (if they don't trade it), if Bowes isn't bid on before #4 GCS take Brodie if a bid does occur then Carlton take him. My top 10 is (bare in mind this is before trades):
#1: ESS - McCluggage
#2: GCS - Bowes (Brisbane bid)
#3: BRI - Petrevski-Seton
#4: FRE - Marshall
#5: CAR - Brodie
#6: GWS - Perryman (Richmond bid)
#7: GWS - Setterfield (Richmond bid)
#8: RIC - McGrath
#9: PTA - Ainsworth
#10: STK: Scrimshaw

Can i just chip in and say that despite what your club has been through, it is very admirable that you've signed up all your uncontracted and important guns and are now looking the likely destinations for O'meara + the no.1 pick aswell. a definite smoky for top 4 next year.
cheers!
nice to know there are a few fans out ther who aren't full of sour grapes over pick #1 and all that shit
