Reckon that Venebales will sneak through to around 19 after all those academy picks ect?
I reckon hes a sneaky chance. Hes dropped of a bit this year and hasnt consistently shown much so hes a bit of a risk, especially so early on. Even if there, we might not take him due to already having Laverde and Langford. All are hopeful mids who show more up forward.

Yeah ive seen this around a bit aswell. Saw somewhere that a recruiter thought McClug wasnt worth pick a top 3 pick. Goes to show that stats dont always mean much
Didnt bat an eyelid when I mentioned Brodie or McCluggage but his eyes lighted up when I brought up SPS and McGrath, like everyone though he has certain players he rates higher than others doesn't mean Dodoro thinks the same.

I just saw someone on the Richmond board suggest they trade Lennon for Laverde lol
Not to do the whole one upping thing, but a Saints board T&D "guru" suggested him for Longer, saying that we need a ruckman.

There's a chance Longer wouldn't even get a gig with our 2nd's, let alone the seniors.

So many daft suggestions. Don't think Laverde re-signing would be that far off, he's had a pretty good year.

I watched some highlights of McLuggage and Brodie.

Luggage has good skill but very slightly built. Brodie is a beast already. A ready made body. We need a replacement for Jobe, he reminds me a lot of him. I am steadfast on getting him over McLuggage.
I want both!
Last year I wanted one of Psrish or Francis at the start of the year andcwe got both. Lol

Depends on the exact definition of "2 years off".

But another one to add to Menzel from earlier ... James Hird would go pretty close to fitting that category. Played very little football for three years, because of crippling injury, at an older age than JOM is now. And returned to be an absolutely brilliant footballer.
Hird was already elite before he injured his foot - He'd already won a Brownlow medal.

Mark Steven just said on Talking Footy we are into:
O'Meara
Ballantyne
Kobe Stevens.
Going to be a busy off season for us
The O'Meara interest was confirmed by Woosha. As for the others I don't trust Stevens in the slightest, he's wrong every time (pretty sure he just makes stuff up).

O'Meara worries me a bit. We could pay overs financially for someone who may no longer have the physical body to support his abilities.
Alternatively he is fine and develops into the games best midfielder - which is how well he was tracking prior to injury. Sometimes you need to take a risk and I'm perfectly fine with O'Meara being that risk.

What happens if the $$$ he asks for cost us a re-signing in a couple of years? Is the risk worth Raz (for example)?

I like the idea of him coming good. But I can also see it the other way. From an NBA perspective, Grant Hill was supposed to take my team places. Injuries stopped that.

EDIT: Meant to multi-quote Old Campaigner too, but my phone was being finicky.

I hope we don't get Ballantyne. Wrong age bracket and nowhere near his best these days. Plus we have some good young developing small forwards in Fantasia, Tippa, Long and then guys like Redman. McKenna might still end up forward although he's looking good down back.

O'Meara is a bit too high risk for my liking but I guess I would be excited if we got him. Hope we don't overpay.

Kobe Stevens - has already been at several clubs and doesn't look to be a type we are particularly short of. Dunno why we would be chasing him.

Are there any good rucks involved? We won't rely on Berger & Chambers forever.
I think we need one ruck, at least. Maybe a ruck and a ruck/forward in addition.
It's been good to have an actual ruck this year.
Luey's achilles and Belly's entire exoskeleton are too dubious to consider skipping over topping up our ruck stocks IMO.

Tim English is the best one in the draft, but Pick 1 is too early for him, and he probably gets taken before Pick 19 so we'd be unlikely to get him unless we got say Pick 15 in exchange for the Hibberd pick and Pick 37 from the Giants and he slid out of the top 10.
In that event I'd be doing the following in the draft:
#1: McCluggage
#15: English
#19: Battle
#55: Cameron
#73: Holmes
#91: McDonald-Tipungwuti (upgrade)

You know he's contracted yeah?
English is NOT a very good tap ruckman though ... He will be selected at the highest pick, but that's more about what he might bring to different positions around the ground
