He's coming along just fine - They wouldn't be taking the time to teach him new skills like defensive ability if they were going to turf him at year's end.

They KNOW what he can do up forward, so they're trying to give him a defensive side to his game by playing him in the backline at Williamstown.

He'll be back in the side before the year is out.
Collingwood said that at the start of the year. They want Egan playing elsewhere, and that's why he's in the 2's.

I don't see it as a bad thing.

If there was one moment that sticks in my mind from last year's final against the Dogs, it was Chris Egan attempting to tackle Ryan Griffen. After being shrugged off (no shame in that) he lay on the ground and did not chase. I remember Silvagni commenting on how poor an effort it was, so I think the coaching staff would have definetly have noticed it.

While I don't reckon they are scapegoating him for the loss, I think the staff at lexus land are trying to get a real hunger instilled in him and make him realise he can't cruise if he wants to be playing footy week in week out for Collingwood.

I hope he does get that fire in the belly, because if not I think we have lost a talented footballer.

It was pointed out on another site that the number after the goals actually referred to best, and not behinds/points.

Clarke at 5.1 meant he was #1/BOG and kicked 5, whereas Eags was #5 with 2 goals.

I reckon I am not even remotely concerned with his development at this stage. He's the type who will shine at a better level and when he's played in his appropriate position. He's coming back from an injury lay off and is getting heavily involved at whatever level he plays, irrespective of some funny decision making.
Yes agree with that
