I'm not quite sure if peoples opinion of footy has skewed as a result of recent history and a couple of once in a lifetime teams (Brisbane/Geelong). But the reality is teams generally don't consistently stay at the same level every year, particuarly as weaknesses are exposed and tactics change.

I'm pretty happy with a prelim final appearance for the pies. When you make it to a knockout final it all comes down to your performance in one game unlike the expanse of the full season. All credit to Sydney. Played much better on the day and won almost much every position.

Anyways, the jury on bucks is still out. Its laughable how quickly everybody wants to call it a fail. If Voss is still there and Hird is escaping criticism, Buckley deserves one more year, especially since in one year he's accomplished more as a coach then both combined.

As for Malthouse .. no guarantee he could have done a better job this year. Lets see how he goes at the Blues hey?

Now that Collingwood are out its ironical you put up posts about their injury list. Youve finished 4th and had a winning streak of 10 in a row at one stage during the season even with injurys but no one was complaining then. Buckleys coaching performance was ordinary tonight as he continued to let Kennedy do as he liked and he let Ted Richards kill every ball that came into the Collingwood forward line. Sydneys pressure was great but they still butchered the ball continously throughout the night which was why Collingwood were always in with a sniff. If Bucks had of coached well Collingwood might have got over the line tonight as Sydney werent that great

Malthouse is not the best coach and I suspect people will find that out next year. He is a very good at man management but his efforts against Geelong last year showed he isn't anywhere near the best.

Buckley is a young coach who in his first season at Collingwood got us to a prelim, despite having to deal with a pretty average year in terms of injuries, suspensions and players out of form.

Great season from the pies. Full credit to the first year coach and an entirely new coaching panel to exceed expectations by a pretty long margin in the face of one of the worst seasons for injury in the clubs history. KUDOS!
