While I vomit a little at the thought of it, I would love to be in the vicinity of Eddie if Carlton won the flag next year.

As much as i would hate it (I want the Crows to win it next year, i think we're a year early in our development, but i still hold hope for tomorrow) It would be great to see Carlton beat the Pies in the GF

For the Lulz

Except for 4 knee recos, an AA defender retiring, and a litany of other injuries and made the prelim. Shame a lot of other clubs didn't have such shit coaches hey ;)

You got rid of your AA defender at the end of last year. He didn't retire. And wasn't one of your four knee reco's playing tonight?

They went way down hill. 2010 they were almost invincible, 2011 only Geelong could beat them through the whole year, 2012, with still an almost identical list, barely made top 4 and a prelim.

Agree. In modern day footy it's easy to stay on top

Buckley simply wasn't up to scratch. I mean, sure they had 4 acl's and various other injury problems (didak in and out all season, Johnson shoulder, Dawes, Nathan brown knee, Reid quad, pendlbury leg) or even swan suspension etc but they still should have been able to sustain their dominance from previous years!

I'm not quite sure if peoples opinion of footy has skewed as a result of recent history and a couple of once in a lifetime teams (Brisbane/Geelong). But the reality is teams generally don't consistently stay at the same level every year, particuarly as weaknesses are exposed and tactics change.

I'm pretty happy with a prelim final appearance for the pies. When you make it to a knockout final it all comes down to your performance in one game unlike the expanse of the full season. All credit to Sydney. Played much better on the day and won almost much every position.

That is true, as seen from VFL / AFL history it is very hard to back up after a premiership. Maybe something Collingwood should have considered after 2010 instead of seeing this as the start of their dynasty.

Let go the best coach in the AFL and boy has it backfired !

Maybe Eddie will realise the error of his ways and get mick back! He better hurry thou, it's October soon

Worst case scenario for Eddie is that mick goes to coach another club - even then thou he won't coach them when they play the pies so its not the end of the world!

Leon was offered a contract and didn't accept it, several players tried to talk him into staying but he wanted to go home to WA. He retired.
Yes a knee reco played tonight, they're usually at their peak a few months after.

The MCG Specialist....sure not an ANZ specialist tonight. Zero impact

Made it to a prelim in his first year. Let's see if MM can do the same. Then judge.
Made a prelim on the back of Malthouses work more likely. You seem to be forgetting that Bucks inherited an already good side that made last years grand final. Going by Bucks coaching performance tonight i doubt he could coach an average side to success in the same way Malthouse has done so in the past

He was only 1 game away from MMs 2011 result. All things considered he's had a great season.

I think that is kind of the point. It is not so much about what season Buckley had a s a rookie coach. Bringing in a rookie coach, and missing out on the experience that a seasoned coach brings to bear in a final series is a questionable situation to put a club in.

Doubt that this will get many serious responses but the problem has been that the gameplan has been worked out. Buckley basically hasn't changed anything from last season, it's still MM's style of footy we've been playing this season. You can't really fault Buckley for not changing the plan over the preseason either imo opinion seeing that we beat every side last season, looked a million bucks for 3/4 of the season and stuck with Geelong for 3 quarters in the GF. Anyway this season it's been comprehensively beaten. Buckley will be under the most pressure going into next season because he now must change the gamestyle to get results.

Look at all the flogs lining up. Especially the Carlton sheep, so fast to slag us off, but convinced that the only way they can be successful is to turn themselves into a faded, ragged copy of us.

Hilarious. :)

I love the fact that our team is more important to you than your own.

Keep it coming, it's cheering me up.

Mick walked away from a contract

Carlton have sacked their last 3 coaches

Carlton have won 1 final and 3 wooden spoons in 10 years

Carlton despite being in debt just signed a coach to a 1 mil yr a contract and had to payout Ratten and partial payouts to some assistants
